Roscoe Brown, 81, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Quinn's Care Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fairlanes Baptist Church the Rev. Chad Chaddick, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Brown married his wife, Helen, on Sept. 2, 1951, in Chandler, Okla. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Faith Sunday School class. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Roger Brown, and wife, Deane, of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter Karen Barnes, and husband, Brad, of Hart; two sisters, Hazel Clarkson of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Ruby Anderson of Borger; and five grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2003 Ruby Ruth Kelly Brown PERRYTON - Ruby Ruth Kelly Brown, 82, died Friday, May 30, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church of Perryton with the Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for 3- and 4-year olds for 25 years. She graduated from Spearman High School in 1939. She married H.C. "Buster" Brown on Aug. 24, 1941, in Estelline. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oran and Florence "Elmo" Kelly; and her husband in 1991. Survivors include a son, Kelly Brown of Perryton; a daughter, Barbara Palmer of Amarillo; a brother, Howard D. Kelly of Austin; a sister, Colleen Yeary of Perryton; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2003 Alleta Dawson Flynt TULIA - Alleta Dawson Flynt, 87, died Friday, May 30, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Central Church of Christ with Ben Mereness, of Georgetown Church of Christ, and Lynn Camp, son-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with arrangements by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Flynt was born in Eastland on Feb. 12, 1916. She moved to Swisher County in 1920 to the Elkins community. She attended Elkins schools until moving to Tulia. She graduated from Tulia High School. She married Wayne Flynt on Jan. 26, 1936, in Tulia. He died March 15, 1993, in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the family business, Flynt's Jewelry Store, until retirement in 1977. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. Mrs. Flynt moved to Amarillo seven years ago. She was dedicated to her Lord, family and friends. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Camp and husband, Lynn, of Amarillo; a son, Don Flynt and wife, Carlanne, of Amarillo; a sister, Marvie Rie Ford of Denton; eight grandchildren, Carol Buse and husband, Mark, of Amarillo; Cathryn Supplee and husband, Rick, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark Flynt of York, Neb., Philip Camp and wife, Tammy, of Lubbock; Brandon Flynt and wife, Melissa, of York, Neb., Troy Flynt and wife, Cami, of York, Neb., Jonathan Camp and wife, Brenna, of Little Rock, Ark., and Tyson Flynt of Amarillo; and 10 great-grandchildren. Darrell Burton, Crown of Texas Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery. Mrs. Helm was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Canadian to Millard G. Donaldson and Edith E. Richardson Donaldson. She married Robert J. Helm on June 6, 1948, in Wheeler. Mrs. Helm graduated from Canadian High School as valedictorian of the 1945 class. She graduated from West Texas A&M University. She taught school in Allison and Groom, then worked in banking until retiring in 1985. She gave to Dr. Robert Schuller's ministry at the Crystal Cathedral Church for 27 years. Her husband's job took her to seven states and two foreign countries. Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Helm of Wellington; five brothers, Bobby Donaldson of Marfa, Bill Donaldson of Allison, Vance Donaldson of Macon, Ga., Wally Donaldson of Chula Vista, Calif., and Colie Donaldson of Diamond Head, Miss.; and three sisters, Mae Morse and Delores Whitten, both of Amarillo, and Diana Odneal of West Jordan, Utah. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Donaldson. The family suggests memorials be to Groom Cemetery Association or a favorite charity. Rod Bowers officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery of Memphis with Tom Anderson of the Memphis Church of Christ officiating. Mr. Wheeler was born in Memphis. He attended Childress High School until his junior year, then graduated from Wellington High School. He married Tina Hand on Nov. 11, 1996. He was employed at Bell Helicopter and was a previous employee of Tascosa Office Machines. Mr. Wheeler was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Daryl Ann Wheeler of Philadelphia, Lindsy Hand and Andrea Hand of Amarillo; two brothers, Derwin Travis Phelps and Ted Randall Wheeler of Amarillo; his mother, Naydean Wheeler of Amarillo; his grandmother, Jimmie Wheeler of Memphis; and nieces and nephews, Laci, Nick, Wayne, Chris, Wade and Angel Wheeler. Word Jr. on June 5, 1954. Mrs. Word loved her church and family. She was an avid bridge player and will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and a grandson, Christopher in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Gaylor and husband, Bob, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Andrea Gaylor of Amarillo; a brother, Robert "Bob" Loofbourrow and wife, Jean, of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2003 Jerry "Mema" Fisher Johnson Jerry "Mema" Fisher Johnson, 76, of Amarillo died Friday, May 23, 2003. A private family memorial service was held earlier in the week. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Amarillo. She worked in the nursing profession for 40 years in hospitals and in home health care. She married Merton Johnson on June 26, 1943. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Jimmie Ella Fisher; and a brother, Malcolm D. Fisher. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Karen S. Griffin of Amarillo; a son, Johnny L. Johnson of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Leslie Stover of Dallas, Danny Johnson, Eric Johnson and Stacey Griffin, all of Amarillo, and DeAnna Turner of Morning Sun, Iowa; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Hager married the late Irene Elizabeth Jones in Kenton, Ohio. He earned the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge in World War II.
