Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Messner was born Jan. 7, 1945, in Perryton, the son of Dyette and Ethlyn Messner. He married Leanna Gustin on April 15, 1967, in Follett. They had lived in Hereford since 1995 where he was employed as an Engineering Technician with Xcel Energy. Mr. Messner was a veteran, having served honorably in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Booker Masonic Lodge #1223, a 21-year member of Darrouzett American Legion Post #635, a past member of the Booker Volunteer Fire Dept, a certified EMT for the Booker Ambulance Service and a member of Hereford Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by twin infant sons and a sister. Survivors include his wife; his mother of Follett; a son, Darren Messner and wife, Lisa, of Amarillo; a daughter, Shannon Andreas and husband, Michael, of Plainview; a brother, Victor Messner of Follett; and 4 grandchildren. He married Karren Morrow on April 16, 1966, in Amherst. Mrs. Olson was born April 26, 1918, in Tivoli. She was a resident of Roswell, N.M., and had been living with her daughter in Dalhart and in Roswell. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Hendrix was born March 4, 1915, in Bomarton. She married Robert Estell Hendrix on Dec. 29, 1935, in Lubbock. She and her husband lived in Lubbock and Amarillo before moving to Dimmitt in 1948, where they owned Dimmitt Implement Co. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dimmitt. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961; and a granddaughter, Shannon Camille Vaughan in 1983. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lynn Lankford of Amarillo and Donna Sue Vaughan and husband, David, of Richardson; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, June 29, 2003 Rose Mary Wilhelm NAZARETH - Rose Mary Wilhelm, 77, died Friday, June 27, 2003. Wake services will be at 5 p.m. today in Holy Family Catholic Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with the Rev. John Hickey officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilhelm was born Nov. 22, 1925, to Joseph and Loretta Kleman Guggemos. She graduated from Nazareth High School in 1943. She married Leonard E. Wilhelm on Aug. 6, 1947. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Parish, Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mother's Society, Diocesian Council of Christian Women, Nazareth Art Club and Nazareth Museum Board. Also in past years she was a member of Nazareth PTA, Bandmother's Organization and Castro County Cowbells. She was instrumental in organizing the annual arts and crafts show, the National Historical Society's marker at Holy Family Church as well as designing two of the U.S. Postal Christmas cancellation stamps. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Lucille Drerup and Alice Fisher; and three brothers, Vincent Guggemos, Leonard Guggemos and Richard Guggemos. Amarillo Globe-News, June 29, 2003 Stephen Wayne Hunter Stephen Wayne Hunter, 57, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 17, 2003. No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Hunter was born in Marion, Ind. He was employed as a truck driver for J. Lee Milligan. He married Vicky Lynn Keys in November 1981 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Katrina Mathews and Kammi Hunter, both of Amarillo; and a granddaughter, Reagan of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, June 29, 2003 Sally Dawson Vandale Sally Dawson Vandale, 72, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 28, 2003. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Llano Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Jim Bankhead, Dr. Murray Gossett and Joe D. Taylor officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Vandale was born in El Paso, on Dec. 28, 1930. She had lived in Amarillo most of her life, except for a 14-year period between 1951 and 1965, when she lived in New York City. She attended the Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas, returning to Amarillo where she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948. She attended the Sarachon-Hooley Secretarial School in Kansas City, Mo., from which she graduated with honors. She attended University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a social sorority, and its alumnae association, and graduated from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU in Dallas. She worked for First National Bank of Amarillo from 1965 until her retirement in 1986. She was a vice-president in the commercial loan department. She was a member of National Association of Bank Women and Banker's Wives. She served in the United Way citizen's budget committee for six years and as its president for one year. She served on the boards of United Way, Amarillo Little Theater, Llano Cemetery, Opportunity School and was listed in Who's Who in American Women. Additionally, she was a participant in the Second Leadership Texas Class. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo. Mrs. Vandale married John J. Vandale on March 2, 1985. Survivors include her husband; a brother, Allen Dawson Jr. of Amarillo; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Robert E. Field officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Terrace Cemetery in Post. Mr. Lancaster graduated from Amarillo High School in 1977. On March 20, 1998, he married Debbie Wilds. He owned and operated Lancaster's Lawn Service. He was a collector of pocket watches, was an avid sports fan, chess player and loved being outdoors. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lancaster in 2000 and two infant brothers, Jon Warren and Ronnie Jack Lancaster. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clint Lancaster of Amarillo; two stepsons, Austin Lilley and Taylor Turnbill, both of Amarillo; a brother, Dr. Kevin Lancaster of Conroe; and his mother, Juanita Lancaster of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, June 29, 2003 Mary Catherine Goff Mary Catherine Goff, 92, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 24, 2003. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Crown of Texas Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Goff was born July 17, 1910, on a farm outside Jacksonville. She lived there with her father, Jim Payne, her mother, Jessie Thompson Payne, and her grandmother, Mary Ann Thompson. Catherine had three younger siblings, Oscar, Bill and Louise Payne. Later in life, her mother remarried and they had Leonard Williams. She grew up at Fry's Gap, outside of Cove Springs, and met her husband to be, JD "Jim" Brackney at a local community dance. It was love at first sight. They moved to McGregor to help Jim's family. Catherine spent her life taking care of people starting with her younger brothers and sister. Her husband Jim and his brother came down with tuberculosis and she nursed them until their deaths in 1934. She worked in the sanitarium for some time helping TB patients. She moved to Amarillo to work in the sanitarium there and went to nursing school and got her licensed vocational nurse license. She continued her nursing at Northwest Texas Hospital. She met and married John Gibbs, who passed away in 1966, and then she married Emmett Goff in 1968. She took care of him until his death in 1996. Catherine was known for her quick and subtle wit, which just got better and better with age. She taught us about acceptance, unconditional love, humor and giving without reward. Good gifts to pass on. She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her husbands, and a daughter, Frances Wuaita Riehl. Survivors include her siblings, Louise Payne Wright of Conroe and Leonard Williams of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Paul Michael Florence of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., MorningStar Black of Austin and Kimberly Daly of Fritch; two stepgrandchildren, Tim Riehl and Deeann Blake, both of Stratford; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, June 29, 2003 Thomas M. Wilson Thomas M. Wilson, 90, of Amarillo died Friday, June 27, 2003. Mr. Wilson was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He was the owner of Shoe Hospital for 32 years, and was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, L.V. Wilson in 2001. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Srader of Eustace and Faye Johnson of Amarillo; two sons, B.D. Wilson of Modesto, Calif., and Jessie Wilson of Canyon; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. "Cagey" Carter, 78, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 26, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with J. Alan Ford of Southwest Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Carter was born to Clyde and Grace Carter in Pauls Valley, Okla., in 1924. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1942 and Texas A&M University at College Station in 1950. He served during World War II as a sergeant in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific Theater. He was a brick distributor and salesman for many years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1475, Association of Former Students of Texas A&M and he coached Kids Inc. football for several years. He married Nihla McDonald in 1953 in Amarillo. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Delashaw of Amarillo; a son, Kelly Carter of Amarillo; three sisters, Beverly Jones of Houston, Shirley Whitestone of Grass Valley, Calif., and Norma Davis of Lafayette, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Candace Brooks and Lindsey Brooks, both of Amarillo.
