Mr. Nunnelley was born June 22, 1917, to J.E. and Edna Moore Nunnelley in Wellington. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1934 and attended Abilene Christian University. He married Polly Weaver on Oct. 10, 1936, in Childress. He was a lifetime resident of Wellington and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Dial on Sept. 25, 1943, and moved to Amarillo in 1948. She was a home legal typist for 10 years for Brents Norman, longtime court reporter in Amarillo. She was later an executive secretary for Santa Fe Railway and the Postmaster and then retired as secretary for an oil and gas company. She was a member of First Baptist Church and played the piano for children's Sunday school for 55 years. Mr. Weekley served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and later joined the Air Force. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his efforts in Vietnam where he was in charge of the Distribution, Fuels Management Branch at Nha Trang Air Base. He retired in 1974 and began a career as an electronics technician for Pruit TV and Appliance and Sears. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Jerry Askins and wife, Danielle, of Plainview; a daughter, Angela Miller and husband, Brandon, of Plainview; his father, E.E. "Windy" Askins Sr. of New Deal; his stepmother, Evelyn Ann Askins of New Deal; his step-grandparents, Walter and Twity Watts of Abernathy; two brothers, Calvin Askins of Lubbock and Robert Askins of Amarillo; three sisters, Teresa Wilkerson of Amarillo, Carolyn McDonald of Dallas and Marilyn Askins of Lubbock; and three grandchildren, Christopher and Keely Askins, both of Plainview, and Justice Miller of New Castle, Wyo.
