Tucker, 78, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Central Church of Christ with Marvin Phillips, minister of Tulsa, Okla., Trey Morgan, pastor of Childress Church of Christ, and Eric Creel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Tucker was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Tulia to C.C. and Cassie Tucker. He grew up there and graduated from Tulia High School in 1942. He joined the Marines in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater for 28 months. He received the Bronze Star with Combat V during that time. He was discharged in 1945. He married Mary Muncy on June 14, 1946, in Tribune, Kan. They lived in several places before returning to Tulia in 1953. He owned and operated Post Office Cleaners for 15 years before going into the bowling business full time. He owned and operated Dan Tucker Bowling Equipment Co. He opened the Tulia Bowl Bowling Alley, which is still in business today. He bought, sold and installed bowling equipment worldwide. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dianne Crowley and husband, Jerry, of Lubbock; three sons, David Tucker and wife, Barbara, Danny Tucker and wife, Miko, and Daryl Tucker and wife, Becky, all of Tulia; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Richards, 64, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, in Stratford, Texas. No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas, Texas. Mr. Richards was born Dec. 27, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa. He was a Guymon resident for the past three years, moving from Davenport. He served in the Marines. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Laura Richards and Christine Moughler, both of Davenport; three sons, Noah Richards of Davenport, Steven Richards of Dumas and Denny Joe Richards of Guymon; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 9, 2003 McFarland C. "M.C." Osborn FRIONA - McFarland C. "M.C." Osborn, 68, died Monday, July 7, 2003. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Friona United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. A lifetime Parmer County resident, Mr. Osborn was born April 15, 1935, in Hereford. He was a farmer and rancher. He married Ann Whitley on June 9, 1957, in Friona. He was a 1953 graduate of Friona High School and helped set the state track record in the mile relay. That record stood from 1953 to 1978. He was a 1957 graduate of Texas A&M University and was a major in the ROTC. He was a member of Ross Volunteeers and was in the Governor's Honor Guard. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lee, Va. He was a member of the Friona Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and the Friona Evening Lions Club. He was a board member and secretary of Soil Conservation Board, Texas one hundred man committee of the Soil Conservation Board, and served Parmer County soil precinct for 28 years as president. He was a member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America, Texas and National Angus associations, and a member of the Sierra Club, Texas Wheat Growers Association and Southwestern Cattlemen's Association. He was a former deacon in First Baptist Church in Friona and served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. He also taught Sunday school and served on the building committee. He served as a judge at the Houston Stock Show and was a longtime activist for the preservation of the land and betterment of the community. Survivors include his wife, Ann; five daughters, Paige Krakoski of Phoenix, Shawn Kennington of Plano, and Nikki Weslowh, Layce Osborn and Tiffany Barclay, all of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Davis in 1999. Mrs. Hooser was a licensed vocational nurse for 20 years. After residing in the Dallas area for 40 years, she returned to Wheeler in 1998. She married Dudley Ogden Robason on Aug. 4, 1926, in Abernathy, and they farmed in Parmer County for 25 years. In 1953, they moved to Siloam Springs, Ark. After the death of her husband on Nov. 8, 1976, she returned to Friona in 1980. She was a member and teacher at First Baptist Church of Friona. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; a daughter, Patsy Ruth Talley; her parents, L.M. and Annie Crow; four sisters, Myrl Buske, Lillian Jones, Hazel Johnson and Elmina Carlton; three brothers, Wilmont Crow, Clifford Crow and L.M. Crow Jr.; a special daughter-in-law, Carole Robason; and a special son-in-law, Calvin Talley. Survivors include two sons, D.O. Tomberlin Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - James E. Tomberlin Sr., 76, died Sunday, July 6, 2003. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Baylake United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Mr. Tomberlin was born Dec. 22, 1926, to John Penn and Geneva Cason Tomberlin in Port Neches, Texas. He grew up in Amarillo, Texas, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1945. After serving his country during World War II with the Merchant Marine and the Navy, he attended the University of New Mexico, graduating in 1953 with a BBA. James worked in the insurance business for many years and later was associated with N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and was a Mason, Shriner and Rotarian. He enjoyed spending his free time at Lake Meredith, fishing and cruising with friends and family. In 1978, he began the pursuit of a lifelong dream of going to sea. He achieved his goal by attaining his master mariner's license and worked in both offshore oil and cargo shipping industries until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Marie Peterson. Survivors include his wife, Gloria June; a daughter, Mary Ellen Fine of Austin, Texas; two sons, James E. Tomberlin Jr. of Houston and Joseph R. Tomberlin of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Jack Tomberlin of Spring Green, Wis.; six grandchildren; and his former wife, Patricia Moore Tomberlin.
