Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fairmont Cemetery, north of Follett. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Home of Shattuck, Okla. Mr. Swenn was born May 23, 1946, in Shattuck. He married Anna Spikes in Clovis, N.M., on April 30, 1970. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mistie Clearwater of Fargo, Okla.; and his parents, Dave and Rosie Swenn of Shattuck. The family suggests memorials be to Generations of Woodward. Amarillo Globe-News, July 11, 2003 Matilda I. Summers BORGER - Matilda I. Summers, 89, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Boren officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Summers was a schoolteacher for the Borger and Phillips school districts from 1944 to 1953. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin G. Summers in 1987. Survivors include a son, Darrell Summers; two daughters, Beverly Cardwell and Patricia Kwiatkowski; a sister, Winona Harbison; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 11, 2003 Amarillo Lois M. Thompson Lois M. Thompson, 64, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 9, 2003. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Southwest Baptist Church with J. Alan Ford, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Thompson was born in Wheeler and was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She married Bill Thompson in 1966 in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and member of Southwest Baptist Church. She loved life, fishing, cooking and playing the organ. She was preceded in death by her father, Choice Bridges in 1968; and her stepfather, Roy Custer in 2001. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Conder of Amarillo and Latica Parker of Dumas; two sons, Don Thompson of Amarillo and Steve Thompson of San Antonio; her mother, Gladys Custer of Amarillo; a brother, Calvin Loyd Bridges; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be at 6314 Kalee. Amarillo Globe-News, July 11, 2003 Elsewhere Merlin Sims SUNNYVALE - Merlin Sims of Mesquite died Thursday, July 3, 2003. Services were held. Arrangements are by New Hope Funeral Home. Mr. Sims was a past resident of Amarillo, where he attended Amarillo Schools. He was a plumber by trade. Survivors include his wife, Carlotta; three daughters; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
