Miss Settle was born Dec. 16, 1955, in Plainview. She worked in law enforcement in Floydada, Plainview and Amarillo. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Monroe was born in Fort Worth. He graduated from Marcus High School in Flower Mound. He married his wife, Jessica in 1997, in Amarillo. He was a former resident of Amarillo as well as Dalhart. He moved from Dalhart to Florida in 2001 to attend aviation school. He was a flight instructor and a member of The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson. Survivors include his wife of Garland; two daughters, Katelynn Monroe and Lindsey Monroe, both of Garland; his parents, Wayne and Nelda Monroe of Amarillo; a sister, Kyra Lain of Balch Springs; and a brother, Michael Monroe of Mineola. Georgia St. Mrs. Hess was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She attended college at City College of New York and Graceland College in Iowa. She married Lloyd Hess in the Bronx, N.Y., on March 7, 1942, and they enjoyed 61 years together. She worked as a legal administration assistant throughout her career. She also was the assistant director of development of Graceland College. She enjoyed and excelled at china painting, oil painting, sewing and needle work. Everywhere she went she had a friend. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Gloria Heller and husband, Bob, of Phoenix, Beverly Axmacher and husband, Charlie, of Amarillo, Betty Jenkins and husband, Lynn, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rita Stevens and husband, Michael, of Nevada City, Calif.; her stepmother, Millie Filippone of New York City; a brother, Robert Filippone of Franklyn Lakes, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Greg Heller, Mike Heller, Bryan Heller, Chuck Axmacher and wife, Michelle, Mindy Axmacher, Sarah Caylor, Ben Jenkins and Jennifer Barros and husband, Jeff; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Barros and Marcus Barros. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Smith was born in Ionia, Kan. He moved to Amarillo in 1961. He graduated from Scandia High School and from Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia, Kan. He served in the Air Force during World War II. He coached and taught school at Caney, Kan. He retired from Phillips Petroleum in 1984 after 33 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Smith in 2001 and two brothers, Jack Smith and Don Smith. Survivors include a brother, Max Smith of Salina, Kan.; and his two cats, Precious and Pumpkin. Mr. Hitchings was born March 28, 1944, in Dalhart, to Maurice and Myrle Lowery Hitchings. He married Vicky Lynn Cyphers on April 21, 1973, in Sedan, N.M. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1970. He was a member of Acton Baptist Church and the DCBE Men's Golf Association. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alison Nicole Hitchings on March 1, 1981.
