Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ernie McGaughey, retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Tulia, officiating. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Tucker was born Dec. 20, 1955, in Amarillo. He grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School in 1974. He was a farmer and later was a hay baler. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Tucker. Survivors include his mother, Flo Tucker of Tulia; and a sister, Ruth Marie Tucker of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer research or Muscular Dystrophy research. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Cherry married Buford Cherry on Aug. 13, 1932, in Sulphur Springs. She graduated from Tira High School. She was a charter member of Bunavista Baptist Church and was a non-active member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Leta Bayless and husband, Sid, of Amarillo; a grandson, Bart Bayless and wife, Kim, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Michel Olds and husband, Scott, of Amarillo; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Frith retired from the Amarillo Public School System. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo. She married W.W. "Curly" Frith on Sept. 16, 1933. She moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Borger. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002. Survivors include two sons, Jack Frith and wife, June, of Plano and Pat Frith and wife, Deanie, of Borger; a daughter, Peggy Foster and husband, Van, of Borger; two brothers, James Woodruff of Arlington and Kenneth Woodruff of Wolfe City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 14, 2003 Jewell "Julie" Lusk Jewell "Julie" Lusk, 62, of Amarillo died Sunday, July 13, 2003. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Lusk was born in San Leandro, Calif., on Oct. 8, 1940. She married John Lusk on Oct. 21, 1961. She moved to Amarillo in 1978 from Sunray. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to various sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gigi Lusk in 1976; and a granddaughter in 1977. The Martins came to Amarillo in 1942 from Scurry County to work in the Amarillo Smelting Plant. Later, they owned and operated Phillips 66 Service Station at Sixth and Belleview for 47 years. She will be remembered for her commitment to her church. She was a 61 year member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Algie Martin on Sept. 9, 1995. Survivors include a son, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Jack Martin of Amarillo; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Woody Melton of Amarillo; a son, Mr. and Mrs. Bill R. Martin of Vernon; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Odis Shoffner of Amarillo; a sister, Virgie Shoffner Martin of Big Spring; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, in Pineview Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Wetumpka, Ala., by Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka. Local arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mrs. Nixon had lived in Amarillo for 25 years, moving from Montgomery, Ala. She was a member of Souls Harbor Church. She was very active in all phases of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Nixon Sr., in 1971, in Alabama. Survivors include two daughters, Alma Basa and Tonnie Edwards, both of Amarillo; four sons, Jerry Nixon and Ray Nixon, both of Tampa, Fla., Harold Nixon and Mack Nixon Jr., both of Montgomery; two sisters, Mary Speer and Cansadie Gore, both of Huntsville, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 14, 2003 Aillene Clovis Nelson Aillene Clovis Nelson, 75, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 12, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, and Dr. Winfred Moore, pastor emeritus, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in El Reno, Okla., with the Rev. Fred Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Nelson was born in Fairbury, Neb. She attended El Reno Junior College and then served as secretary to the president of the college. She later served as secretary to the president of the El Reno Chamber of Commerce. In 1952, she married D.G. "Bill" Nelson who was Canadian County Agriculture Extension Agent as well as staff member at Oklahoma State University. After marriage, she became secretary to the president of the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. She served as secretary to the president of Oklahoma State University Alumni and Placement Bureau before moving to Amarillo in 1957. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi where she was elected Queen. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she was especially active with the GA's and W.M.U. She assisted her husband in founding the Texas Grain Sorgum Association and later the Texas Wheat Producers' Association. She was a beloved wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a faithful friend to many. She was preceded in death by a son, Rene'. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Vikki Holcomb and husband, Wesley, of the Woodlands and Tanya Frech of Plano; a sister, Nancy Williams of El Reno; and three grandchildren, Nelson, Allison and Courtney. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resthaven North Memorial Park. Mr. Lopez was born Aug. 29, 1947, in Midland to Simon and Cruz Lopez. He was a Catholic and a cursillista. Ron Roskom officiating. Arrangements are by Jack Loftiss Funeral Home of Cordell. Mrs. Crabb was born June 18, 1918, in Erick to Fannie Johnson and Joel Roberts. She was a very talented lady. She liked to sew, paint pictures, crochet, cook, knit and play the piano and organ. She loved animals, especially her poodle, Brandy. She loved her jewelry and makeup. She always dressed up, everyday. She was preceded in death by her parents.
