He was a retired boiler house operator for the Bureau of Mines at the Helium Plant, working there from 1953 to 1968. Mr. Davis was a World War II veteran, serving with the Army in the 96th Division. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arch and Annie Davis of Claude; two sisters, Ada Krist and Lillian Tetterington; a great-grandson, David Kent; and a great-granddaughter, Adrian. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Alonzo was born in Amarillo. He lived here all his life. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and then Price College, where he was on the Price College baseball team. After graduation, he joined the Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. He then married Lucia Navarrete in 1946 at Amarillo. He worked for the city of Amarillo for several years and then for Potter County where he retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Serapia Soria Alonzo; and a sister, Angelita Gutierrez. Survivors include his wife; four brothers, Lolo Alonzo, Andres Alonzo, Enrique Alonzo, and Paul Alonzo, all of Amarillo; a sister, Marcelina Rodriguez of Sacramento, Calif.; a special niece, Elidia Mendoza of Amarillo; and a special nephew, Manuel Luera of Amarillo. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1957. He went to Brooks Institute of Photography and got a degree in fine arts at Santa Barbara. He was a Baptist. He was the owner of Jackson Insurance Agency in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Jackson in 1995. In 1985, he served as president of First Section of the Shrine. He was a member of Lake Meredith Yacht Club, Panhandle Boat and Ski Club and was also a pilot. He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Sherman was born in Matoon, Ill., to Walter and Magdalene Staub on May 23, 1916. Her father, a minister, moved with the family to several different places and then settled in Glendale, Calif., where Louise graduated from high school. She later enrolled in Simpson Bible College, which was then located in Seattle. While there she met her future husband, Lincoln "Gene" Sherman. They both graduated from Simpson and were married Sept. 25, 1937, in Glendale, Calif. Louise was a pastor's wife and a homemaker. Louise and Gene moved from Oakdale, Calif., to Amarillo in April 2002. Interstate 40. Mr. Bates was born in Donna and moved to Amarillo when he was three months of age. He was an elder at East Amarillo Church of Christ, where he had been a member since 1958. He married Bettye Allen on Feb. 17, 1950, in Lubbock. He was a retired supervisor at Texaco Refinery. He was a veteran of the Texas National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Gertrude Bates; a sister, Gertrude Everitt; and a brother, Gene Bates. Mrs. Halinski was born in Clarendon. She married Robert Halinski in Amarillo on March 1, 1963. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Halinski was an active bowler. She coached the junior bowling league for many years and acted as secretary for various bowling leagues. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Letha Brown; and her husband. She had lived in Memphis prior to moving to Amarillo in 1995. She was a resident of Park Place Towers Retirement Center, and later, Ware Memorial Care Center. Mrs. Srygley was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Memphis before moving to Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell E. "Hack" Srygley in 1981.
