Chavez FRIONA - Octavio C. Chavez, 35, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Friona United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruben Rivera of the Friona Christian Fellowship church officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Chavez was a Friona resident since 1983, coming from Mexico. He was a self-employed truck driver. Survivors include his wife, Maria; a daughter, Misette Elena Chavez of Friona; a stepdaughter, Monixa Isabel Bautista of Friona; a step-son, Randy Baca of Friona; a sister, Gloria Chavez of Mexico; and two brothers, Roberto Chavez of Mexico and Praxedis Chavez of Friona. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 2, 2003 Inez Messer SHAMROCK - Inez Messer, 80, died Thursday, July 31, 2003. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Messer was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Mineral Wells. She married Robert E. "Bob" Messer on July 8, 1940. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Pepper; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Shamrock Cemetery Association or First Baptist Church building fund. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 2, 2003 Amarillo Elmer Beauford "Jack" Jones Elmer Beauford "Jack" Jones, 92, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 31, 2003. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Amarillo Primitive Baptist Church with R.A. Tindall, elder and pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mr. Jones was born Oct. 19, 1910, in Mansfield. He married Bessie Fuller on Aug. 1, 1936, in Raymondville. Jack spent much of his life farming and together he and Bessie raised seven children. They moved to Amarillo in the mid-1970s, where Jack worked for Bell Helicopter until his retirement. Jack and Bessie shared 44 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1980. Jack married Ruby Merle Doss on Feb. 14, 1981. Jack will be remembered by all for his great love of family and friends. He will be forever missed by all those who loved him. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Wing of Sayre, Okla. Survivors include his second wife; three sons, Elmer Wayne Jones of Whiteface, Gary Jones of Amarillo and Eddie Jones of Elgin; three daughters, Louise Estes of Fresno, Calif., Carol Kinney of Round Rock and Brenda Hodges of Amarillo; a sister, Fern Kerr of Memphis; three half-sisters, Lorraine Skelton, Rosalynn Jones and Emma Jean Newcomb, all of Elk City, Okla.; two half-brothers, Larry Jones and Dean Jones, both of Joshua; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Cole married Hazel Tivis on Dec. 27, 1964, in Juarez, Mexico. He loved classic cars, square dancing, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jennifer Kimberly of Clovis and Allison Autrey of Burlington, Iowa; his mother, Christine Cole of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, J.D. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home Dr. Stella was born June 11, 1930, in Omaha, Neb. He married Philomene Theobald on Nov. 29, 1959, in San Diego. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gina Girard of Pasadena, Calif., and Laura Rowley of Clovis; two sons, Frank Stella of San Diego and Michael Stella of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Salvatore Stella, M.D. and Frank J. Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home. Mr. Andrue was born Aug. 14, 1965, in Texas. He was a salesman in the auto industry. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robby Andreu and his grandmother, Julia Espinosa. Survivors include two daughters, Berkley Andreu and Morgan Andreu, both of Houston; a son, Taylor Andreu of Houston; his parents, Gloria and Gerardo "Andy" Andreu of Amarillo; a sister, Jeanette Andreu of Amarillo; and a nephew, Christian Quintanilla of Amarillo. Mrs. Leeper was born July 9, 1927, in Rifle, Colo. She moved to the Highland Haven area 19 years ago from Dumas. Survivors include her husband, Wyatt; three sons, Larry Thacker and Robert Thacker, both of Farmington, N.M., and Dean Leeper of Austin; two sisters, Jo Wilcher of Sacramento, Calif., and Pat Joslin of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
