Mrs. Piper was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Beaumont, Texas. She married Elijah Lee Piper in Clovis, where she worked as a housekeeper. Survivors include her caregiver, Aria L. She attended elementary school in Amarillo and high school in Coppell. For the past two years, she worked as a mortgage loan officer in Dallas. She loved above all else her precious 5-year-old daughter, her family, Jeff Thompson and her many friends. We love you, Rae Rae, and will miss so much your kind heart. Mrs. Withers was born in Dumas. She had been a lifelong resident. She married Mike Withers in 1975. She had worked for Moore County News Press as a type setter for nine years. She was involved in the Progressive Steps Rehabilitation Therapy and the Panhandle Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis. She was a member of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. Guerra was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Victoria. He married Maria Christina Guerra in 1950 in Edinburg. Osage St. Mr. Schutz was raised in Venice, Calif., and spent his high school years in Auburn, Calif. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served for two years. Then he enlisted in the Army and served for two years. Mr. Schutz was a loving father and a good man. He was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Schutz of Sacramento, Calif. Survivors include his wife, Vonnie Orr Schutz; a son, Keith L. Schutz of Houston; a daughter, Crystal A. Mrs. Doshier was born in Claude and was the seventh of nine children born to Robert Luke and Bertie Weeks Bagwell. She married George B. Doshier on Sept. 27, 1946. They moved to Vega in 1948 and she had lived in Amarillo for the last four years. She and her husband upon retirement, and before his death in 1999, enjoyed spending time in Zapata and Lake City, Colo. She was a member of Vega United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, David Doshier of Vega; three daughters, Diana Mayhugh of Macau, China, Nancy Brackett of Lubbock and Betty Backer of Taos, N.M.; two sisters, Janice Beach of Phoenix and Imogene Bagwell of Amarillo; a brother, Don Bagwell of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, LaNell Gunter of Claude; her grandchildren, Stephen Mayhugh and wife, Marguerite, Daniel Mayhugh and wife, Anna, Jonathan Mayhugh, David Mayhugh, Benjamin Brackett and wife, Crystal, Catherine Brackett, Stephanie Brackett, Joanna Brackett, Lee Backer, Kellen Backer, Travis Doshier and Valerie Doshier; and 15 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 12, 2003 Amarillo Lula Maude Ivey Lula Maude Ivey, 75, of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003. Private services will be held. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Ivey was born May 13, 1928, to James Granville and Pearl Price Halford. She had worked as a waitress. Survivors include a son, Leonard "Buster" Tieman of Louisville, Ky.; and a grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 12, 2003 George W. Terry George W. Terry, 84, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Central Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Terry went home to Jesus on Sunday after a lengthy struggle with heart disease. He was born June 9, 1919, in Erick, Okla. He grew up and lived most of his life in McLean. In 1942, he married Mary Louise Campbell in Shamrock. In 1947, he established an electrical appliance business in McLean. The enterprise was simply named Terry's Electric. For years and years, George maintained the Maytag, Whirlpool, Zenith and RCA sales franchise. In 1984, he was elected mayor of McLean and served in that capacity until 1988. In addition to George's electrical appliance business, he retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. after 45 and a half years in 1985. George served his country in the Army as a sergeant major for four years during World War II and received the Purple Heart. George served as a deacon at Central Church of Christ from 1992 until his death. George was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Lions Club and the fire department in McLean. George never met a stranger; he loved everybody and had many friends. George will be missed for his great zest for life and for his love of his family. His sunshine, his warmth and his desire to be a servant will be forever cherished and never forgotten. George's family extends the boundless love and thanks to each and every staff member of Northwest Texas Crown of Texas Hospice, for their loving care of George during the last six months. Mere words are not adequate thanks for their untiring service to our family. "Pete" Moore, 84, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Moore was born in 1918 in Altoona, Ala., and moved to San Angelo as a child. He grew up in San Angelo and Forsan, where he graduated from high school in 1937. He graduated from Bowen's College of Business Administration in Columbia, S.C., in 1939. Pete served his country in the Army for six years during World War II, ending up in the Southwest Pacific on the island of Leyte in the Philippines. He was among the first troops to occupy Japan as occupation forces after their surrender in 1945, where he went ashore at Amori on the northern tip of Honshu and again at Otaru, Hokaido, Japan's northern island. Pete's occupation in life was in the grocery business. He owned his own store and was store manager for several stores as a food salesman. He retired from United Supermarkets in 1987. He lost his first wife in 1972 to cancer, and is survived by his wife, Glenna Kaye Moore, whom he married in 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Church. After his retirement, he became a volunteer at Veterans Hospital in Amarillo, where he also worked as a school crossing guard at Hillside Road and Hampton Drive for 10 years (a job he truly loved). He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife; a son, Philip Moore and wife, Sharon, of Odessa; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Burns and husband, Jack, of Midland and Angela Ebert and husband, John, of Glendale, Ariz.; three stepsons, Dana, Steve and Mike Robinson, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Coleen Ventre of Fresno, Calif. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice or Salvation Army.
