Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hix graduated from Bowie High School in Bowie and from Amarillo College in Amarillo. She was a member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. She was a licensed Realtor in the Amarillo and Dallas area for 50 years. She was employed by Creative Home Brokers and Century 21, Bob Flowers in Amarillo, and was a member of the Amarillo Board of Realtors. She was a member of the ABCL Bridge Club and was a "Double Life Master in Bridge." She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on Nov. 16, 1987. Survivors include a son, Charles J.A. Hix and wife, Debi, of The Woodlands; a sister, Margaret Helen Lamberson of Hedley; a granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Hix of Amarillo; and a great-grandson, Jordan Anthony Hix of Amarillo. Survivors by marriage include a grandson, Michael D. Hix of Amarillo; two great-grandsons, Breagan Hightower and Brantly Hightower, both of Amarillo; and a great-granddaughter, Melissa Denai Hightower and husband, Bret, of Amarillo. Castleberry, 82, of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount, with the Rev. Howard Batson, of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Castleberry was born July 12, 1921, in Vernon to Wesley Benjamin and Altie Lou Hill Castleberry. He was a football star at Vernon High School and was offered a scholarship at West Texas State Teacher's College where he graduated in 1945. He was a very active athlete, a Golden Gloves boxer and captain of the Buffalo football team where he was known as fleet-footed Castleberry. Ed and Marilyn Beck were married and decided to make their home on their ranch in Dalhart. He served his country in the Marine Corps. He was a pioneer in irrigation farming in the Texas Panhandle, drilling one of the first irrigation wells in Hartley County and was a farmer and rancher for 55 years. He was also a private pilot. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters; and a grandchild. Survivors include his wife of 60 years; two daughters, Becky Castleberry of Amarillo and Diana Lathem of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Ed W. Castleberry of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Velma Zukoski and Ila Pollock, both of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. in Gruver United Methodist Church by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Kruse was born in Charlton, N.Y., on Nov. 2, 1936. She had lived in Gruver since 1968. She married Charles Kruse in 1961 in Del Norte, Colo. She was a warehouse manager for Phillips Petroleum, retiring in 1995. She attended Gruver United Methodist Church and was employed by Caprock Industries for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leo and Gertrude Martin; a son, Michael Griffin; and a brother, Jim Martin. Survivors include her husband; five sons, Frank Griffin, DVM of Hereford, Bill Griffin of Dumas, Bob Griffin of Guymon, Okla., J.L. Griffin of Sheridan, Wyo., and Wayne Kruse of Gruver; three brothers, Bill Martin of Amarillo, Dick Martin of Charlton and Tom Martin of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Nance officiating. Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cruse was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Bridle Bit. She was a member of The Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Debra Smith of Silverton and Melody Hysinger of Clarendon; three sons, Robert Gragson of Pine Bluff, Alaska, Lee Cruse of Happy and Brett Cruse of Round Rock; four sisters, Edna Huffines of Canyon, Inez Payne of The Keys, Fla., Joy Martin of Clarendon and Glenda Perry of Lubbock; and two brothers, Doyle Wynn of Estelline and Jim Wynn of Carlsbad, N.M. Summar, 78, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Downer and the Rev. Wade Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery by Englunds Funeral Service. The Rev. Summar was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. He married Frances Hinton on Sept. 29, 1946, in Amarillo and preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1990. He attended the Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, graduating with a bachelor's of divinity. His ministry began with Central Baptist Church in San Saba before coming to Slaton in August 1957. He pastored Bible Baptist Church from 1955 until his retirement in 1991. "He's the Keeper of My Soul" is but one of the many songs and poems authored by the Rev. Summar which has been sung throughout the world. His life was one of service to God as well as to his family, church family, friends and country. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, William and George Summar; and two sisters, Ruby Hicks and Margie Woodell. Survivors include two sons, Rickey and wife, Sue, and Clifford and wife, Debbie, all of Amarillo; a sister, Imogene Stallings of Amarillo; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special care givers, Patsy and Jerry Copeland of Slaton; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
