Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hughs Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Johnnie Snider officiating. Mrs. Murdock was born Oct. 20, 1906, in Wiley. She married James Elmer Murdock on July 19, 1924, in Plaska. Survivors include a daughter, Billie Byars of Memphis; a grandson; 10 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1600 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79101; or to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 27, 2003 Johnny Wall HEREFORD - Johnny Wall, 51, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Buster Grigg of First Baptist Church in Dibol and the Rev. Jim Bulin of Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford officiating. Private family committal will be in Restlawn Memorial Park by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Wall was born in Hereford and had lived there his entire life. He was a 1970 graduate of Hereford High School where he played football for the Hereford Whitefaces. He was in district play his senior year and played in the Greenbelt Bowl. He attended West Texas State University. He married Judy Yarbro on July 26, 1973, in Hereford. He was a member of Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford where he served as a deacon and worked with the church youth groups as well as Royal Ambassadors. He was co-founder, along with his father and brother, of Wall & Sons Drilling and Plains Pump and Supply of Hereford. He was also active in farming and ranching. His life revolved around his family and his children's activities. He loved to take his family to the lake fishing and skiing, and to the mountains camping. He was also a coach for Kids, Inc. for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Whiteface Booster Club for many years. He was involved in the community as a board member of the Community Concert Association, American Heart Association and American Cancer Association. He was most active in junior livestock shows with his three children. They raised club calves to show in livestock shows and had won Grand Champion in major shows; the Fort Worth Livestock Show and the Houston Livestock Show, as well as numerous other shows around the state. He was a sponsor and supporter of the junior livestock shows in Hereford and the FFA. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Wall. Survivors include his wife, Judy; a daughter, Amanda Wall of Hereford; two sons, Bric Wall and Zack Wall, both of Hereford; his mother, Rosie Wall of Hereford; two brothers, Billy Joe Wall of Hereford and David Sellers of Pampa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Rix Funeral Directors and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday in Avenue Baptist Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 27, 2003 Edith Eliza "Granny" Gibson Levitt WHEELER - Edith Eliza "Granny" Gibson Levitt, 102, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Allison. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Levitt was born Nov. 28, 1901, in Palmyra, Mo. She lived a long, long, long, full life. Edith moved to Canyon as a young girl, graduated from West Texas State Teachers College in 1924 and taught many generations of students in Zybach and Allison schools. She married Lester Lee Levitt on Oct. 25, 1925. She loved singing praises to God and played the piano for First Baptist Church in Allison for 60 years. Granny also loved sewing and writing the Allison News for the Wheeler Times for many years. Granny will be remembered for her exuberant and outgoing personality and her entertaining "Trip to Boston." Edith lived at her Allison homestead until she was 98 years old. Ms. Juanita Boydston and many wonderful and loving friends and neighbors cared for her. She was recently cared for by the gracious staff of Wheeler Care Center and Crown of Texas Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Lester Eugene Levitt; a son, Lynn Franklin Levitt; a granddaughter, Linda Jan Levitt; a great-granddaughter, Jill Nicole Krueger; and a son-in-law, Roy Malcolm Langford. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Johnson was born and raised in Hedley. She graduated from Hedley High School in 1938. After graduation, she joined the Women's Army Corps and was a veteran of World War II. She married Frank Mikesell and had a son. She was a floral and interior designer and owned Golden's of Cherry Creek in Denver for many years. After returning to Amarillo, she married C.Y. Johnson and started her own craft business, Golden Designs, where she sold her handmade products. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Survivors include a son, Tony Mikesell of St. Louis; three sisters, Opal Thomas and Mae Thornberry, both of Amarillo, and Jewell Quisenberry of Hedley; a brother, J.M. Mr. Huckins was born in Beaver, Okla., on Oct. 20, 1932, and lived in Arkansas for many years. He lived in Amarillo in the 1970s. He was a veteran of the Navy. He received a degree from the Gemological Institute of America. He had worked at Mike's Jewelry since 1980 and had been the sole operator since 1995. He married Lisa Melton in 1987 and had two children, Marilyn and Thomas. His kids were his life. He was a very affectionate father who enjoyed spending time with his kids and watching them play sports. He also enjoyed coaching kids sports, playing golf and riding his motorcycle. He was a good man whose love and laughter will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Hinojosa Sr.; and a younger brother, Luis Hinojosa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn; a son, Thomas; his mother, Mary Hinojosa of Amarillo; three sisters, Izabel Dorsey and husband, Dean, of Dallas, Martha Lewis and husband, Mike, of Tulsa, Okla., and Carol Wood and husband, Kelly, of Amarillo; four nephews, Mathew and Hunter Bodiford and Justin and Kelly Wood; and two nieces, Jordan Wood and Sylvia Melton. Osage St. Ms. Owen was born in Amarillo to Willie B. and Dorothy Mae Henry on Sept. 11, 1962. She was baptized on Feb. 3, 1980. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1982. She received a degree in computer development from Amarillo College. She moved her membership from St. John Baptist Church to Jerusalem Church of God in Christ. She loved children and was a very successful child care professional at Watley nursery. She was most recently employed by Web-link Wireless. She will be missed by her co-workers. She always loved to help others in her community. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie B. and Dorothy Mae Henry. Gilbert CLAYTON, N.M. - Harold L. Gilbert, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Gilbert was a longtime Union County rancher. He was a brand inspector in northeast New Mexico from 1964 to 1979. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 27, 2003 Canyon Phillip Langen Phillip Langen, 69, of Canyon died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor, and the Rev. Jim Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Langen was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Phillips to Vincent and Allene Griggsby Langen. He married Jerrie Forbes on Oct. 23, 1953, in Borger and they had been residents of Canyon since 1964. He received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's of business administration from West Texas State University. He was mayor of Canyon from 1978 to 1986 and was employed for 38 years at WTAMU where he was the bookstore manager and served as director of auxiliary services. When he retired, he sold real estate. He was a Gideon and a member of First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and on the Baptist Community Services board. He also served on the Baptist St. Anthony's board of directors. He was a veteran of the Army Infantry and was named "Citizen of the Year" in 1977. He liked to fish with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jay Langen of Canyon and Randy Langen of Iowa Park; two brothers, Charles Langen of Dalhart and Vincent Langen of Albuquerque, N.M.; and seven grandchildren, Dane Langen, Ashleigh Langen, Abbie Langen, Alee Langen, Reid Langen, Jace Langen and Halee Langen. Mrs. Redwine was born July 26, 1915, in Lubbock. She married James Leonard Redwine in Lovington, N.M., on Feb. 28, 1934. She had lived in Muleshoe since 1948, moving from Littlefield. She moved to Hereford in 1995. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hereford and a longtime member of the Progress Baptist Church. She received her GED when she was 70 years old. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 10, 1969; two sisters, Marjorie Pharr and Jane Hull; a brother, Sherman T. Sullivan; a grandson, Bobby Don Henry in 1986; and a great-grandson, John Glenn Henry in 1985. Survivors include two sons, J.L.
