Mr. Longley was born on June 9, 1916, in Spearman. He was a farmer and rancher. Survivors include his wife, Zina Longley; two sons, Darrell Longley of Elizabeth, Colo., and Clifton Longley of Vici, Okla.; a daughter, Geneva Babitzke of Borger; a sister, Evelyn Dodd of Panhandle; five grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Tucker was born on Jan. 8, 1912, in Payden, Okla., to Elbert and Augusta Gilbert. She married Alonzo Muncy in 1926 in Canadian. He passed away in October of 1953. She married John R. "Chink" Tucker in October 1955 in Tulia. He passed away in 1995. She worked as a nurse and retired in 1976. She had worked for Swisher Memorial Hospital, for Dr. Childress as an office nurse and as a school nurse for Tulia ISD. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a brother, Leroy Gilbert, and a sister, Ann Danes. Survivors include a daughter, Mary K. Jose Gomez, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Polendo was born July 28, 1940, in Rosebud. She married Juan Polendo on May 16, 1964, in Rosebud. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Angelita Polendo and Irene Maddux, both of Pampa, and Dolores Kidd of China Spring; a son, John A. Ferrell, 89, of Texhoma, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in Spearman. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Texhoma United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tomisene Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Ferrell was born July 24, 1914, in Alvord to Charlie and Ersie (Shipman) Chambers. She married Gordie Ferrell on Aug. 15, 1934, in Wilson, Okla. In 1950, she moved from Burkburnett to Texhoma where she worked as a postal clerk in the Texhoma Post Office until she retired in February 1985 after 15 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and a charter member of the Carnation Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Sept. 9, 1997, three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Monte Ferrell, and wife, Marilyn, of Texhoma, and Rolland Ferrell and wife, Juanita, of Claremore, Okla.; a daughter Suzanne Freeman and husband, Tom, of Ruidoso, New Mexico; two sisters, Artie Drury of Hurst and Lynn Weatherford of Alvord; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Cremation will be by Cox Funeral Home. Mr. Maddox was born and raised in Wellington. He graduated from Wellington High School and he was a veteran of the Navy in World War II. He married Mary Rose Chalouy in 1981 in Amarillo. He worked as a pilot for over 30 years. Perry, 56, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, and the Rev. Lynn Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Cox Funeral Home. Mr. Perry was born in Tucumcari, N.M., and was a 1966 graduate of Tucumcari High School. He married Sharolyn Davenport on Sept. 3, 1966, in Tucumcari. He moved to Amarillo in 1969. He attended Amarillo College and graduated with an associate's degree in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. He worked for Owens-Corning from 1979 until the time of his death. He was a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Colt Collectors Association. He was a 25-year member of San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #1330 and a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Burley in 1998. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, LeAnn Burley and her husband, Brandon, of Wagner, Okla.; a half-sister, Joyce Quarles of Farwell; and a grandson, Jacob Burley of Wagner. Canyon Dwane Love Dwane Love, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Kevin Deckard, pastor of Westover Fellowship Church of Amarillo, and Rob Blum, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Kress, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Love was born on Nov. 30, 1927, to William and Bessie (Scott) Love. He married Loveta Newson in Tulia on July 22, 1945. He owned Prairie Cattle and Grain Co. and Love Grain in Tulia. He also farmed and was a supporter of Future Farmers of America. He was a member and past president of Kiwanis of Tulia and was an honor leader of the Boy Scouts of Tulia. He served on the Tulia Industrial Development Board and on the board of the Portales Christian Children's Home. He was also a board member of Western Christian College of Canada and served as president of the Texas Grain Dealers Association. He was a member of Tulia Central Church of Christ. He and his wife moved to Canyon from Tulia in January of 1995. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim Love, and wife, Kathy, of Bethlehem, Pa. and Lynn Love and wife, LeeAnn, of Canyon; a sister, Yvonne Mansfield, of Detroit; five grandchildren, Jeff and Kevin Love of Atlanta, and Chance, Ginny and Garrett Love of Canyon; and a great-granddaughter, Brianna Love of Atlanta. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 29, 2003 Viola Cathryn Francis Gum Viola Cathryn Francis Gum, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Canyon, officiating. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mrs. Gum was born on Oct. 19, 1910, in Ochiltree County to Robert H. Francis and Nannie Myrtle Ray Francis. She was the second of five children. She attended Wolf Creek County School and graduated from Perryton High School in 1929 as an honors student. She attended McMurry College in Abilene and West Texas Normal College in Canyon. She taught in a two-teacher school in the Black community south of Perryton from 1930 to 1932. She married L.E. "John" Gum in 1932. During the 1940s, while in Randall County, she raised two children, served as an election clerk and helped with farm duties. In 1949, she joined the Methodist church in Canyon, and was president of the Murray Bible Class. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Canyon and a Past Worthy Matron and a Mother Adviser of the Rainbow Girls of Canyon in the 1960s. Survivors include a daughter, LaNelle Revel and husband, Weldon, of Canyon; a sister, Ona Grace Morris and husband, Clarence, of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother-in-law, C.D. Russell of Perryton; two grandchildren, Sheli Ellsworth and husband, Lt. Cmdr. Mr. McLaughlin was a lifelong resident of Laketon where he farmed and ranched. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
