Funeral Mass will be at 3 p.m. today in St. Teresa's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Ramirez lived in Friona for 55 years after moving from Alice. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Juanita; three sons, Manuel Luis Ramirez Jr. of Evans, Colo., Moises Ramirez of Round Rock and Daniel Ramirez of Alice; three daughters, Oralia Hernandez of Mesa, Ariz., Margaret Walter of Glendale, Ariz., and Leticia Ramirez of Friona; a sister, Finber Mendoza of Alice; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to St. Teresa's Catholic Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2003 Josefina Jimenez Renteria CANADIAN - Josefina Jimenez Renteria, 61, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, in Amarillo. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church with the Rev. David Contreras officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Visitation will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Renteria married Jose Valenzuela Corchado in Mexico. She was preceded in death by a son, Rogelio Valenzuela Jimenez. Survivors include her husband of Mexico; five sons, Jamie Valenzuela, Oscar Valenzuela, Jose M. Valenzuela, Juan Luis Valenzuela and Juan Pablo Valenzuela, all of Canadian; six daughters, Adela Vasquez, Amparo Lopez, Beatriz Valenzuela, Irma Valenzuela and Linda Vigil, all of Canadian, and Margarita Valenzuela of Mexico; 26 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2003 Waldean Cheatheam MCLEAN - Waldean Cheatheam, 76, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Trinity Church with Jeff Messer officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock, by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, and Wright Funeral Home of Shamrock. Mrs. Cheatheam was born on Nov. 19, 1926, in Magic City. She graduated from Samnorwood High School and lived in McLean for 42 years before moving to Amarillo in 2002. She was a member of Trinity Church in McLean for many years where she kept the nursery. Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Cheatheam of Amarillo and Charlotte Sheffield of Odessa; three sisters, Maedean Bernson of Abilene, Viola Reeves of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rochelle Dougherty of Shamrock; three brothers, C.H. Clark of Dallas, Dail Clark of Oxnard, Calif., and Alva Clark of Shamrock; two grandchildren, Bryan Bockmon and Nikki Bockmon; and three granddogs, Bailey, Leo and Samantha. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2003 Mary Lou Menefee Friona - Mary Lou Menefee, 86, of Friona died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Petty, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lazbuddie Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Menefee was born on Jan. 15, 1917, near Anna. In 1930, her family moved to the Lazbuddie community where she attended school and was active in basketball and other sports. She graduated from Lazbuddie High School in 1935 and married Joe Scott Menefee on July 27, 1935, in Clovis, N.M. The couple farmed for several years and moved to Corpus Christi before moving back to Friona. Mrs. Menefee became a Christian at an early age and continued to be active in church all her life. One of her greatest joys after family was her church friends and families. She enjoyed doing nice things for others, had a ready smile and was loved by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dwain Menefee and wife, Danny, of Fort Towson, Okla., and Keith Menefee and wife, Sherrie, of San Antonio; a daughter, Carolyn Buchanan of Lubbock; two sisters, Dortha Lee Seaton of Lazbuddie and Sarah Donnell of Richwood; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2003 Maye Allison HAPPY - Maye Allison, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rule Cemetery in Rule, with arrangements by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy. Ms. Allison was born on Sept. 9, 1910, in Winnsboro to James and Minnie Worth Robertson. She lived in Rule and Knox City before coming to the Happy community in 1945. She was employed in the cafeteria of Happy Independent School District for seven years and cooked for the Lions Club for 15 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Women's Missionary Union, Happy Senior Citizens and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elton Herman Robertson, Timothy Marvin Robertson and Brice Wilson Robertson; and three sisters, Nola Florence Covey, Lillie Pearl Woods and Esther Paralee Woods. Survivors include two sisters, Alice Earlene Robertson Self of Garland and Ruth Lorrene Robertson Clark of North Richland Hills; and 38 nephews and nieces. Jonah was born May 29, 2003, in Dalhart to Chris and Desa Marquez Provine. He was God's little gift and a blessing to everyone who came into contact with him. Survivors include his parents; a brother, Kress O'Neal Provine; a sister, Kenzie Rae Provine; grandparents Mary Arlene Bigham of Dalhart, Joe B. and Maria Marquez of Dalhart and Bryan and Teresa Provine of Mustang, Okla.; and great-grandparents Harold and Emma Lou Provine of Mustang. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2003 John V. Stevens MATADOR - John V. Stevens, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2003, in Floydada. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Boggs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Stevens was superintendent of the Matador Ranch from 1946 until the ranch's sale. He later purchased part of the original ranch known as Dugout, which he operated until 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1986. Survivors include four daughters, Sondra Francis, Shelley Cox and Shane Jones, all of Matador, and Sue Patterson of Abilene; one son, Steve Stevens of Childress; two sisters, Naoma Martin of Amarillo and Etta Mae Moore of Granbury; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2003 Canyon Mary E. Nepper Mary E. Nepper, 81, of Canyon died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery, by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Nepper was born on July 25, 1922, in Groom to George Lambert and Lilly Black. She married Johnnie Nepper on Feb. 13, 1939. She was a retail clerk in Piggly Wiggly stores. Mrs. Nepper was a member of the Lamplighters at Paramount Terrace Christian Church and the Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Gwen McRoberts and husband, Gary, of Canyon; a son, Johnnie Lane Nepper; two grandsons, Kelly McRoberts of Canyon and David Nepper and wife, Tiffany, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Kimberly Dill and husband, Andrew, of Decatur, Ala.; and her great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Travis McRoberts and Madison and Andi Dill.
