Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Pinner was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Rush Springs, Okla. He was the eighth child of Coy Elmer and Verga Walker Pinner. He was a resident of the Lockney area since 1926 where he was a farmer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lockney and a member of the VFW. He served as staff sergeant, airplane crew chief with the 946th Air Engineer Squadron stationed in Naples, Italy. He was honorably discharged from the Army on Dec. 29, 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include a sister, Birdie Ritchey of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a brother, Ray Pinner of Bentonville, Ark.; seven nephews; three nieces and their families. The family will receive friends from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler, Amarillo, TX 79107. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2003 John R. Goodin CLAUDE - John R. Goodin, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Claude Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, Armstrong Chapel of Claude. Mr. Goodin was born March 29, 1916, in Armstrong County, the fifth child of Emery J. and Clara Brunson Goodin. He was a resident near Claude all his life, residing on the same property from age 18 months. He entered the Air Force on Oct. 24, 1941, and was discharged on Sept. 8, 1945. He served as an airplane maintenance technician and engine mechanic for three years and one month overseas in Australia, New Guinea, North Solomon Islands and the South Philippines and the balance of his service time at bases in Missouri, New York and California. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Claude, Claude Lodge No. 719, American Legion Post No. 344 at Claude and a past member of Range Riders, Dallas Scottish Rite and Khiva Temple. On Dec. 6, 1947, he married Betty J. Everett at Vega. They resided on his farm southwest of Claude where he farmed and ranched until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include his wife; a sister, June Gibbs of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law, Frances Goodin of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Claude, Olivia's Angels in care of BSA Hospice or a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2003 Amarillo Rufus Nanez Jr. Rufus Nanez Jr., 49, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mr. Nanez lived in Amarillo and Pampa before moving to Sunray four months ago. He had been a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Natividad Nanez on July 6, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Browder and Soyla Nanez, both of Amarillo; a son, Rufus Nanez III and wife, Susie, of Pampa; his parents, Rufus Nanez Sr. of Dumas and Margarita Morales of Sunray; seven sisters; six brothers; and six grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2003 Robert "Bob" Rader Robert "Bob" Rader, 88, of Amarillo died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Guy Walker, pastor of Barn Church Dream Center, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Rader was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Meade, Kan. He was united in marriage to Fern Winkleman in Buffalo, Okla., on Sept. 21, 1935. In 1965, he moved to Amarillo. He became a successful farm and ranch real estate broker operating in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. One of his greatest enjoyments was his horses, which he continued to raise until his death. He loved and cared for his wife and family. He was loved and respected for his wisdom, integrity and fairness. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; a sister; and two granddaughters, Baby Lepel and Julie Ann Rader. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years; two sons, Bruce Rader and wife, Gerry, of La Junta, Colo., and Mike Rader and wife, Jo, of Amarillo; three daughters, Marlene Ownsby and husband, Bill, of Amarillo, Mona Myers and husband, Wade, and Marilyn Albert and husband, Don, all of Walsh, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2003 Margaret Burkwall Margaret Burkwall, 89, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Charles Jones, of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Burkwall was born in Osage City, Kan., to Andrew and Matilda Rudeen. She married Morris Paton Burkwall on Sept. 14, 1937. She moved to Beaumont in 1944 where she lived until 1978 before returning to Osage City. In 1996, she moved to Amarillo. She graduated from Emporia State Teachers' College in Emporia, Kan. After graduation she taught school in Kansas and Texas. She was a faithful Christian, loving wife and devoted mother. She taught Sunday school for many years and made two mission trips to Africa. She was a member of Stotler Covenant Church in Osage City and attended Second Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; her parents; and a brother, Vernon Rudeen and wife, Eunice. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Morris P. Burkwall Jr. and wife, Mary, of Conroe and Dr. Paul A. Burkwall and wife, Faye, of Crozet, Va.; a daughter, Joyce A. Greene and husband, Jim, of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Karen Johnson of Naperville, Ill., Katherine Ciscon of Houston, David Burkwall of Richmond, Va., Jana McKinney of Amarillo, John Burkwall of Denton and Ryan Greene of Estes Park, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in San Jacinto Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Wright was born in Pauls Valley, Okla. He married Reta Hudson in Amarillo on Aug. 7, 1953. He was employed by Frito Lay for 34 years. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed traveling in his fifth-wheel and making new friends. He loved everyone he met and they loved him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Darren Dye, pastor of Canyon Christian Church, and the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Henderson was born March 27, 1943, in Wellington. She married Durwood Henderson on April 7, 1966. They made their home in Canyon for more than 37 years. She was the owner of Tweedledee Children's Clothing Store in Canyon from 1972 through 1997. She was active in the Canyon Study Club, the mentoring program for Lakeview Elementary, First Baptist Church Sunday school and Canyon Christian Church. She was also involved in missionary work in Monterrey, Mexico. She was a member of Pioneer Promenaders Square Dance Club and Caprock Cruisers motorhome club. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Peeples. Survivors include her husband, Durwood; two daughters, Tawny Lewis and husband, Howard, of Canyon, and Markaye Rothman and husband, Bob, of Evergreen, Colo.; her mother, Hellen Peeples of Canyon; a sister, Gayle Hamby and husband, Ray, of Greenbelt Lake; a brother, Kent Peeples and wife, Elaine, of Canyon; and four grandchildren, Tiffany Lewis, Brittnye Lewis, Joshua Rothman and Justin Rothman. Mrs. Harris was born April 14, 1923, in Iowa Park to C.J. and Ethel McCarty Minick. She married Orville Harris at Bryan on July 11, 1943. She had previously worked as a telephone operator and as a Niagra sales consultant. She spent many enjoyable years traveling with her husband in support of her husband as an ag teacher. They had previously resided in Floydada, Lubbock and Whitharral. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. Survivors include her husband, Orville; a son, Troy G. Harris and wife, Paulette, of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Tamera Fall and husband, Jaime, and Terri J. Mr. Williams was born July 14, 1946, to Dallas and Alma Stewart Williams in Modesto, Calif. He married Debra Blagg on Dec. 25, 1999, in Dodson. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roby Cemetery. Mr. Neves was born May 27, 1906, in Beaver County, Okla. He was the son of the late Thorton Pool and Mena Olea Doss Neves. He lived in Fisher County and Big Spring. He married Katherine Melinda Terry on Sept. 19, 1925, in Roby. He farmed and enjoyed wood working and raising roses. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons, Tommy Jack and Edwin Charles; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Royce Lynn Johnson. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2003 Ralph Wynn LUBBOCK - Ralph Wynn, 77, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003. Mr. Wynn was born March 17, 1926, in Dodson. He served in the Navy in World War II. He married Mildred Mason on Aug. 17, 1947, in Lubbock. He worked in construction, heavy equipment and truck and car sales in and around Lubbock for many years. He was a member of Quaker Avenue Church of Christ. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was loved by many friends. Ralph had a great sense of humor and loved to share his life experiences with many people. He will truly be missed by all who had the privelege to have known him. He was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Wayne of Lubbock; and sister, Mickey McDaniel of Lubbock. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 1, 2003 Rue S. Hestand II DALLAS - Rue S. Hestand II, 89, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Restland Funeral Home, Abbey Chapel. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park. Mr. Hestand was born July 13, 1914, on Hestand Stock Farm in Howe. He was one of the founders of Aztec Manufacturing Company (NYSE symbol AZZ) of Crowley. He retired from Cabot Corp., Machinery Division, in Pampa. He lived in Pampa for 33 years before moving to Dallas in 1991. His parents died in 1924, and grandparents, Ida and Jim Hestand, raised him, a sister, and a brother. He graduated from Sherman High and Southern Methodist University with a bachelor of science in mechanical and electrical engineering in 1937. He married Hesta Smith of Sherman on June 4, 1938. She preceded him in death. He was Past Master of Riverside Masonic Lodge, Fort Worth, and Past Patron of Pampa Charter No. 65, OES. He was an active member of Pampa First Methodist Church and Win Some Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Pampa Rotary, Knife and Fork, Pampa Club, and other community clubs. He was a current member of Dallas Highland Park United Methodist Church and AYA Sunday School Class. Survivors include a son, Rue S. Hestand III of Eustis, Fla.; a daughter, Virginia Lee "Ginger" Reynolds of Dallas; a grandson, Rue S. Hestand IV of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Ed Hestand of Mineral Wells; and a sister-in-law, Kathryne "Kitty" Dawson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
