Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bible Baptist Temple with the Rev. Greg Waggoner officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Mathews was born and raised in Tulia and was a graduate of Tulia High School. She had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. She married Louis J. Mathews in 1958 in Amarillo. She worked for the AISD with the Head Start program for eight years. She also catered the lunches for Temple Christian School for five years. She was a member of Bible Baptist Temple for more than 45 years where she worked with puppet ministries. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Burley in 1974; an infant son, Louis Mathews Jr. in 1959; and a great-grandson, Michael Burley in 1998. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Polly Rankin of Amarillo and Mary Grammelspcher of Jasper, Ind.; three sons, Ron Matthews of Brandon, Fla., Eddie Mathews of Jacksonville, Fla., and Brandon Burly of Wagoner, Okla.; two brothers, Charles Haile of Junction City and Leroy Vaughn of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tucker was born in Matador on Sept. 28, 1928. She married Sam H. Tucker Jr. in Abilene. She was an active member of the American Ex-POW's and a member of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam H. Tucker Jr. Survivors include two sons, Larry E. Tucker of Richland Hills and Thomas H. Tucker of Amarillo; a sister, Nita Green of Lawton, Okla.; two brothers, Amos Mize of Amarillo and A.E. "Buster" Mize of Abilene; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 2, 2003 Myrtle Bagley McIntosh Myrtle Bagley McIntosh, 77, of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. McIntosh was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Chillicothe. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1945 and then moved to Amarillo. She married L.D. McIntosh in 1946 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1989. She was a housewife but also worked for Southwesten Bell and St. Anthony's Hospital as a nurse's aid. Her hobby was bowling, which she had been doing since 1970. She bowled in the Club 55 bowling league. Survivors include two sons, Jack McIntosh of Milwaukee and Gary McIntosh of Amarillo; two daughters, Rita Batchlear of Amarillo and Debra Round of Dallas; a brother, George Bagley of Temple; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 2, 2003 Glen I. Atkinson Glen I. Atkinson, 78, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Kingswood United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kan., by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Atkinson was born in Rogers, Ark. He moved to Amarillo in 1990 from Wichita. He worked as a purchasing agent for Cessna Aircraft for 35 years and retired in 1986. He did volunteer work at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wichita for many years. After moving to Amarillo, he volunteered at St. Anthony's Hospital and then BSA Hospital with more than 4000 hours of service. He was also very involved with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 50 years. He married Evelyn Louise Nicholson in 1945 at Peabody, Kan. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998. Survivors include a son, Mike Atkinson of Amarillo; a sister, Joy Slaughter of St. Louis, Mo., and two grandchildren. No services are scheduled at Mr. Sherman's request. Burial will be in Santa Rosa Memorial Park, Shiloh Addition, Santa Rosa, Calif., by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Sherman was born March 20, 1913, in Los Angeles. The family moved to Norco, Calif., and Gene attended Norco Schools. Later he moved to Lowell, Ore., and graduated from Lowell High School. He attended Oregon State University and then enrolled at Simpson Bible College, then located in Seattle. During one summer, he served as a missionary to Alaska. While at Simpson, he met Louise Staub and after they both graduated, they married on Sept. 25, 1937. Gene and Louise lived at several locations in Southern California, finally settling in Northern California in Santa Rosa. He became an ordained minister and was instrumental in starting several churches and serving as pastor. He also worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Co. for 32 years. In 1995, they moved to Oakdale, Calif., and then in April 2002, they moved to Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louise, in July 2003. Survivors include a son, Ron Sherman of Amarillo; a daughter, Marilyn Hedgpeth of Sonora, Calif.; five grandchildren, Dena Albee and husband, Mike, of Corning, Calif., Cheryl Harmon and husband, Kelly, and Pam Sherman, all of Amarillo, Bob Hedgpeth and wife, Joanne, of Jamestown, Calif., and Debbie Witman and husband, Jeff, of Sonora, Calif.; and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Hill was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Clarendon where he resided until moving to Claude in 1977. He moved from Claude to Pampa in 1981. He had worked at various places throughout his life before his retirement. He was a member of Clarendon Church of Christ. Mrs. Williams was born April 26, 1932, to Ansul Victor and Clara Casey Mote in Childress. She married Billy Williams on May 19, 1950, in Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Saunders was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Stanton. She was a homemaker and married Calvin Saunders on March 10, 1971, in Hollis, Okla. She was a member of the ladies V.F.W. auxiliary and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; a brother, Johnny Coffman; and two sons, David and Terry Chapman. Burial will be in the family plot of Logan Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. The Rev. Richardson was born June 25, 1930, in Okmulgee, Okla. He was a retired minister of the United Methodist Church and served 44 years in the ordained ministry. Mr. Gray graduated from high school in Nara Visa and worked as a cowboy in the Clayton and Hayden areas of Union County. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Daughtery was born June 20, 1927, in Alpine to Bertha Carter and William Adolphus Daughtery. He served his country as a sergeant in the Army during World War II.
