"Slim" Bagwell, 73, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in San Jacinto Church of Christ with Bret McCasland officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Bagwell was born July 16, 1920, in Claude. He married Odessa Tillman on Oct. 2, 1946, in Liberal, Kan., and they moved to Amarillo in 1949. Mr. Bagwell retired from Farmland Co-op after 38 years as a truck driver. He was a rancher and involved in the Boy Scouts of America program. He was a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ. Mr. Bagwell was a veteran, serving in the Navy as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Letha Brown and Velesta Allstrom. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Pankey and husband, Jerry, of Lorena and Ellen Rowell and husband, George, of Oklahoma City; a son, Henry Bagwell and wife, Amy, of Amarillo; two sisters, M.E. Brunson of Claude and Melva Miller of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Shay, Pamala, Landon and Daylon; and two great-grandchildren, Chyenne and Shane. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 3, 2003 Jeanette Long Jeanette Long, 83, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Lee Walls of New Life Four Square Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Long was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Denton County. She grew up in the Quanah and Childress area. She married John A. Long at Canyon on Dec. 21, 1934. She worked for St. Anthony's Hospital for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 30, 1984; two sons, Bill Long and Dan Long; and a daughter, Clarice Bryant. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Joe Long and Fred Long, both of Amarillo; three daughters, Christine Smart and Crystal Green, both of Amarillo, and Geraldine Clark of Pineville; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews and nieces; and other family members and friends. Georgia St. Mrs. McLean graduated from high school in Dripping Springs and was valedictorian of her class. She married Valgene on Jan. 1, 1961, in Austin. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading and taking care of her cats. Survivors include her husband; a sister, Janice Brownson of San Angelo; and three brothers, Bob Garnett of San Antonio, Grovner Garnett of Washington and Sam Garnett of Austin. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 3, 2003 Jackie Corine Buck Jackie Corine Buck, 70, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003. Mrs. Buck was born Jan. 15, 1933, in Littlefield. She married Kenneth L. Buck on Aug. 1, 1948. They made Amarillo home for 32 years. Jackie was a faithful Christian, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Pam Eager and husband, Lynn, of Amarillo, Cheryl Vanover and husband, Rocky, of Lucas and Kimberly Irons of Amarillo; a son, Greg Buck and wife, Mary; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Gerber of San Antonio. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Jerry Billington, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Sheets was born May 15, 1914, in Mount Pleasant. He married Clair Scott on Feb. 3, 1940, in Longview, and they moved to Amarillo in 1941. Mr. Sheets worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. from 1938 until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and served as chairman of the board of Plains Bell Federal Credit Union. After retiring, he managed Putt Putt Golf Course, then the Golden Spread Farmer's Market. He had been an active member of the Amarillo Classy 39 and Over Singles Dance Club and served as the current president. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Elwell and husband, Rusty, and Joslyn Harney and husband, Art, all of Amarillo; two grandsons, David Harney and wife, Leah, and Seth Harney, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Malissa Craddock of Mineola and Zenna Mae Rice of Alvord; three brothers, Robert Sheets of Murphy, N.C., Marion Connell of Teague and Finis Hearon of Whitehouse. Mr. Price was born April 30, 1928, in Pampa. He was a graduate of Pampa High School and attended Texas Tech University. He married Ida Ruth Taylor on July 7, 1951, in Pampa. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Everyman's Bible Class. Mr. Price spent his lifetime ranching northwest of Pampa, and his legacy will live on through the family and friends that survive him.
