Services were at Nelson Funeral Home in New York on Aug. 31. Local services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Happy with the Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mrs. Wilcox was a longtime resident of Happy. She was a past postmistress for the Happy Post Office and was a member of First Baptist Church of Happy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Wayne Wilcox in 1995. Lee and wife, Elaine, of San Diego and Betty and husband, Burl, of Warner, Okla.; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cornerstone Baptist Church in Pampa with the Rev. Paul Nachtigall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery of Wheeler by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Chapman was born to Burnice and Martha Grimes Caswell on April 15, 1915, in Sunset. She was a longtime resident of Wheeler until she moved to pampa in 1968. She was a beautician in Pampa for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pampa. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Chapman, and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Tootie Nickell of Pampa; a brother, Howard Caswell of Sayre, Okla.; a sister, Neta Young of Pampa; two grandchildren, Joe Nickell and wife, Dixie, and Oddie Nickell; and two great-grandchildren, Kory and Kenzi Nickell. Graveside services will be in Mutual, Okla., on Saturday with the Rev. Keith Fortner officiating. Family and close friends will meet at First Christian Church in Mutual at 10 a.m. and drive to Dunlap Cemetery together. Ann was born in Woodward, Okla., and grew up near Vici, Okla., on her family farm. She graduated from Vici High School in 1960. Ann attended cosmetology school in Enid, Okla., and lived in Woodward until she married Clifford Schwab in 1969. She was married and lived in Higgins for almost 32 years. Ann retired from a successful career as a cosmetologist to focus on her children. She was a devoted and loving mother who actively involved in her children's lives and the Higgins community. She lived in Pampa for the last two years of her life. Ann was a member of First Christian Church in Mutual, where she became a Christian at an early age. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Higgins and later attended Church of the Nazarene in Higgins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Myron Arthaud. Survivors include a son, Dr. Christopher Schwab of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Brandi Weinette of Stanton; a grandson, Tristan Weinette; two brothers, Alvin Arthaud of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Gary Arthaud of Seiling, Okla.; and numerous cousins and devoted friends. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 5, 2003 Jimmy Lee Shieldknight SPEARMAN - Jimmy Lee Shieldknight, 74, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Spearman Church of Christ with Leonard Harper officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Okla. Mr. Shieldknight was born June 15, 1929, in Childress the son of Mayme Summerville and Jim Shieldknight. The Shieldknight family moved to Spearman in 1940 and Jimmy graduated from Spearman High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Lois Buzzard on July 27, 1947, in Perryton. They were married for 56 years. In 1957, he and Erlis Pittman formed a partnership and friendship that has lasted 46 years. This partnership began with a car dealership, Excel Chevrolet, and several agricultural ventures. He founded AGCO and had interests in farming, cattle, insurance and the oil and gas industry. He was a past member of Spearman City Council, Spearman Jaycees, served on the board of First National Bank and Hansford County Appraisal District and was a member of National Dealer Council for General Motors. He was a member of Spearman Church of Christ and volunteered as a coach for the AGCO Aggies, girls AAU basketball team and was a national square dance caller. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joyce Shieldknight and Loraine King; and an infant brother, Charles Glen Shieldknight. She was well known for making custom drapes in the Dumas area. She married Ernest Glenn Robinson on Dec. 24, 1936, in Collingsworth County. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 21, 1971, and a son, Clinton Keys. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Westmoreland was born to Nathaniel Alexander and Pearl Collins Alexander on May 3, 1935, in Wills Point. Following her mother's death in 1939, Mildred was reared by her father and stepmother, Nathaniel and Ellen Johnson Alexander. The second eldest of six children, she attended public schools in Wellington and Childress. On Aug. 8, 1955, Mildred married Cal Westmoreland Jr. at Amarillo, and to that union four children were born. She accepted Christ at St. John Baptist Church in Childress in 1948, and upon moving to Amarillo she united with Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church in 1955. She remained a member until her death. Mildred was employed by Eva's Fashions and Levi Strauss, and received medical retirement from Levi Strauss in 1978. Throughout the years, she also sold Avon, Home Interior, Tupperware, Princess House, Stanley Home Products and Amway. Through selling these products, she made many friends and was always willing to do whatever she could to help others. Survivors include two daughters, Candis Westmoreland of Amarillo and Renelda Polk and husband, Charles, of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Charles Westmoreland of Amarillo and Calvin Westmoreland and wife, Leola, of Arlington; three sisters, Nellie Nickerson of Amarillo, Barbara Ann Rodgers of Longview and Mary Catherine Goodman of Fort Worth; a brother, Robert Alexander of Childress; seven grandchildren, Karsten Westmoreland, Nakaisha Hubbard, Chris, Christina, Sean, Brandon and Cierra Westmoreland; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Miss Russ was born in Amarillo and lived here all of her life. She attended Bushland schools through the eighth grade and was a 2001 graduate of Tascosa High School. Lindsay loved her friends and was constantly striving to help others. Her smile was a ray of sunshine. She was a member of Junior League of Amarillo and was past president of Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Central Church of Christ since 1951. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alicia Brown on Sept. 28, 2001, and a brother, Bill Byers. Georgia St. Mr. Cleland was born in Coryell County on May 11, 1913. He moved to Canyon when he was 12 years old and graduated from Canyon High School and West Texas State University. He earned a graduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He was an officer in the Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserve retiring as a lieutenant commander. He worked as a lifetime public school teacher and was head of the history and government department at Amarillo High School when he retired. He married Elaine Loving Cleland in 1942 and was married for 60 years until her death in 2002. Survivors include a son, Robert Cleland of Trophy Club; and a grandson, Robbie Cleland of Trophy Club. Mr. Robinson was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., to Elbert and Rosa Clark Robinson. He lived in Canadian before moving to Canyon at age 9. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1938 and married Mattie Ruth Davenport at Canyon in 1940. He was a farmer and rancher in Randall County for 65 years. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had served as a deacon. Edgar had a life well-lived. He loved working with the earth and raising cattle. He once said he was happiest when farming and working with cattle. He had a great sense of humor and loved playfully teasing family and friends. He was a man of honor and integrity, and loved his wife and family very much. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Boyle, Mary Pyatt, Lillian Mathis and Esther Gerhart. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patti McNicoll and husband, Roger, of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Jean Fedigan of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, John C. Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church of Coppell. Arrangements are by North Dallas Funeral Home. Mrs. Adair was born Oct. 18, 1960, in Borger. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Coppell, where she was active in the hand bell choir and taught Sunday School to 5-year-olds. Kathryn grew up in Fritch and graduated from Frank Phillips College. She received her BA from Texas Tech University. After college she went to work for Compushop in Washington, D.C., then Compucom in Dallas, where she worked in their legal department. Since 1997, Kathryn had worked for her family business Romar Supply. She was preceded in death by her son, Clayton. Survivors include her husband, Mark; a son, Grayson Adair; her mother, Marcia; her father, Dale; a brother, Rodney Howard; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Winters. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 5, 2003 Jeanie Lanell Henager LUBBOCK - Jeanie Lanell Henager, 62, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003. Services were at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with the Rev. James Haney and the Rev. Ted Dotts officiating. Burial was in St. Christopher's Columbarium. Miss Henager was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Alvin, Calif. She was diagnosed with Stage III cancer in 2001 that recently progressed to Stage IV. Miss Henager was a registered nurse and clinical specialist in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing. She practiced professional nursing for more than 40 years and most recently retired after 15 years of teaching psychiatric mental health nursing at South Plains College in Levelland. She was a graduate of Hendrick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She held a bachelor of science from Hardin Simmons University and a master of science in psychiatric mental health nursing from Texas Woman's University. Miss Henager also practiced in child adolescent mental health at Kilgore Children's Hospital in Amarillo and served as an advanced practice nurse with the Veterans Administration Mental Hygiene Clinic in Lubbock. She is listed in Who's Who of Nursing Education and received numerous Nurse Education Performance Awards. She also wrote poetry and fiction as well as numerous professional papers and articles. She was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Lubbock. Survivors include a sister, Virginia Doster and husband, Tony, of Amarillo; two brothers, the Rev. Al Henager and wife, Katy, of Conway, Ark., and Mark Henager and wife, Carla, of Plano; three nephews, Tony Rodgers Doster Jr. and Mark Brenton Henager Jr., both of Dallas and Alan Whitfield Henager of Rush Springs, Okla.; four nieces, Kathe Tow and Elizabeth Meyer and husband, Ken, all of Amarillo, Jennifer Faith Mansell of Lawton, Okla., and Mollie Mae Henager of Conway, Ark.; four great-nephews; four great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; and her rat terrier, Rosie. College Ave., Levelland, TX 79336; or to a favorite charity for animals. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 5, 2003 Beatrice Ortiz Cristan LITTLEFIELD - Beatrice Ortiz Cristan, 70, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, in Lubbock, Texas. Mass was at 3 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock with the Rev. Andres Mendoza officiating. Burial was in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow by White Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mrs. Cristan was born May 10, 1933, in Midland to the late Pedro Ortiz Sr. and Inez Lerma Ortiz. She moved to Lubbock from Littlefield in 1970. She married Natividad P. Cristan on May 10, 1949, in Hereford. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Pepe Ortiz, Angel Ortiz, Pedro Ortiz, Pascual Ortiz; and a grandson, Adam Hernandez. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Carlos O. Cristan and Raul O. Cristan, both of Lubbock; three daughters, Rosa C. Mendez of Dodge City, Kan., Olga C. Morales of Las Vegas and Dora C. Hernandez of Lubbock; a brother, Juan L. Ortiz of Lubbock; four sisters, Lorenza Gomez of Brownfield, and Aurora Armendariz, Inez Ortiz and Esperanza Aguilar, all of Midland; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
