Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Trevino married Lorenza Lerma in 1939. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 1992. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 9, 2003 Lon M. Davis Jr. FLOYDADA - Lon M. Davis Jr., 85, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones officiating. Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was born May 17, 1918, in Quanah to the late Lon M. David and Maggie Bradford Davis. He moved to Floydada in 1920 and graduated from Floydada High School in 1935. He received his bachelor of science from TCU in 1939 and a masters of geology from the University of Oklahoma. He married Florine Cates on Oct. 7, 1950, in Dallas. He was owner of Lon Davis Grain Co. and Davis Farm Supply Inc. and was a rancher. He was a lieutenant in the Navy, having served during World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church of Floydada. He was past president of Rotary Club where he received a "Service Above Self" award. He was president of Mackenzie Water Authority for 22 years, district chairman of the American Cancer Society, member of Floydada City Council for two terms, president of Floyd County Pioneer Association, founding member of the World Championship Rodeo Association, member of American Quarter Horse Association, employee of the year in 1977 of the chamber of commerce, president of Floydada Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Ranching Heritage Center. He was the Floyd County Pioneer Man of the year in 1997. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Miles Davis and wife, Marcia, of Amarillo and Blair Davis of San Antonio; and three grandchildren, Owen and Steven, both of Amarillo, and Alexander of San Antonio. She received the hero of the month award from the American Red Cross Greater Amarillo Chapter for saving a high school student from drowning at the WT swimming pool. She was a certified personal trainer, lifeguard, phlebotomist and CNA. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 9, 2003 Melton Lennon Hill PERRYTON - Melton Lennon Hill, 70, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Full Gospel Church in Perryton. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Hill was born Oct. 10, 1932, on the family farm south of Perryton. He had lived on the farm all of his life with the exception of his tour of duty in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He was in the Air Force Reserve until 1962. He was engaged in farming and ranching. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Melton always loved hunting, shooting and flying. He was known to be a craftsman who enjoyed working in his shop and completing projects to perfection. After his marriage to Juanita Spinden on Perryton in 1987, he gained three stepchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam K. and Jewell Hill; a sister, Avanelle Word of Fort Worth; and a grandson. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Shelley K. Hill of Amarillo and Darrell L. Hill of Joplin, Mo.; three children from a previous marriage, Shannon Morton of Houston, Sam Hill of Dallas and Soraya Johnson of Lufkin; three stepchildren, Pam Wain and Tina Spinden, both of Perryton, and Jim Spinden of Dallas; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson; two step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Weatherly, 94, of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Christian Church with Dr. James Cobb and Dr. John Bridwell officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Weatherly was born Feb. 11, 1909, to John and Maggie Weatherly on the Weatherly Ranch in Isom, now known as Borger. He married his wife of 71 years, Mozelle Bryant in Goliad in 1932. A.D. was a graduate of Texas Christian University, where he played football and was on the Southwest Conference Championship winning team in 1929. He served many years on the board of trustees for TCU and Brite Divinity School. He, his parents, sisters and their families have all been generous financial supporters of TCU. In 1932, he and Mozelle moved to Springhill Ranch in Des Moines, N.M., where their daughter, Ann Vincent was born on the ranch in 1933. The Weatherlys moved to Amarillo in 1944 to oversee the family's oil and gas interest and continued in the cattle business in New Mexico. Mr. Weatherly served many years on the board of directors of American National Bank. He was an active and longtime member of First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Agnes Howe and Opal Purvines; his daughter, Ann W. Vincent; and a grandson, Clifton Edward Vincent II. Survivors include his wife; a granddaughter, Dawn Lark and husband, Stan, of Raton, N.M.; two grandsons, W. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. O'Brien was born in Evansville, Ind., to James Loyd and Jenie Lee DeLain McCurdy. She married Ray O'Brien on June 24, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. O'Brien moved to Amarillo in December 1988 from Albuquerque, where she had been living since 1959. While living in Amarillo she resided at the Continental Retirement Center, Seville Assisted Living Center and Riverstone Assisted Living. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 26, 1979. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Stewart and husband, Norman, of Amarillo; a grandson, Eric Stewart of New York; a special friend and faithful visitor, Maxine Roy of Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Victory Church with David Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Thomason was a native of Panhandle and had resided in Jacksonville, Fla., since 1995. An ordained minister by Kingsway Fellowship International and Cornerstone Church, the Rev. Thomason had a 33-year ministry serving as co-pastor and minister of music at churches in White Deer, Rockwall, Amarillo, Broken Bow, Neb., and Jacksonville, where she co-founded Cornerstone Church with her husband of 33 years, Dr. Ronny Thomason. She was a member of American Association of Christian Counselors. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn L. Pratt and a brother, Vernon L. Pratt. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Heather Fawn Thomason of Jacksonville; a son, Aaron Lee Thomason of Jacksonville; her mother, Ethel Pratt of Panhandle; a sister, Glenda Kay Boothe of Panhandle; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 9, 2003 Dorris Foreman Dorris Foreman, 95, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Foreman was born April 17, 1908, in Munday. She graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton with a bachelor's and master's degree in education in 1930. She taught school in Cross Plains, where she met her future husband. Mrs. Foreman married L.D. "Sandy" Foreman on Aug. 9, 1936, in El Reno, Okla. Sandy and Dorris moved to Amarillo in 1945 after World War II ended. Dorris taught physical education in the Amarillo school system for 22 years. She and Sandy moved to Aurora, Colo., in 1967, where she taught school until her retirement in 1973. They moved to Mission where they lived for two years. She and her husband returned to Amarillo in 1975. She was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees and taught Sunday school. She was a past matron and charter 50-year member of the A.E. Shirley Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Thomas and Rose Durham; two brothers, Jack and Wren Durham; three sisters, Blanche Hamm, Tommie Echols and Nell Durham; and a nephew, Mike Echols. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 9, 2003 New Mexico Eunice Loftis BELEN, N.M. -- Eunice Loftis, 88, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Jim Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Grove Cemetery by Romero Funeral Home. Mrs. Loftis was born Sept. 21, 1914, to Jesse and Odie Lovvorn in Texas. Eunice along with her husband, Edwin, was the owner and operator of the Taos Motel for 16 years in Taos. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Belen for 21 years and volunteered her time with a Spanish missionary group for more than 40 years. The family would like to express its thanks to Quality Continuum for their care and compassion for Eunice during her illness. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lou Jane Martin and husband, Don, of Amarillo, Texas, and Sue Jean Thompson of Albuquerque; six granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Williams was born in Dodge City, Kan., on Sept. 21, 1928. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1947. He attended Texas Tech University from 1947 to 1951, and played varsity football until 1949, when he was injured in a ball game. He received two degrees from Texas Tech University; a bachelor of arts in 1951 and a master of education degree in 1962. He married former Marian Best of Fort Worth in 1951.
