Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Texhoma Cemetery with the Rev. Tomisene Ingram officiating. Arrangements are by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Burks was born March 6, 1906, in West Plains, Mo. She married Oscar Burks on April 14, 1947, in Richman, Calif. Survivors include three cousins, Helen Doolin, Virgi Bibb and Irene Walker, all of California; and many friends. The family suggests memorials be to Texhoma Methodist Church or Texhoma Cemetery. Mrs. Rinehart was a homemaker. She was a member of Harvest Time Pentecostal Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 13, 2003 Noman Hamilton FLOYDADA - Noman Hamilton, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones and the Rev. Clayton Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Hamilton lived in Quitaque, Floydada, Tulia and moved to Lubbock in 1979. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 18 years, and was a rancher and farmer. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Hamilton of Tyler; a daughter, Noma Lou Rainer of Floydada; a son, Steve Witcher of Tyler; a brother, E.J. Hamilton of Lubbock; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 13, 2003 Amarillo Buster LeRoy Caviness Buster LeRoy Caviness, 81, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Garret, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Caviness was born in Emzy, N.M., on Jan. 13, 1922, to James Everett Caviness and Fronie Caviness. He graduated from high school in Causey, N.M., and attended New Mexico State University, where he was president of his class, a cheerleader, a member of the student council and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Buster joined the Army Air Corps at the beginning of World War II, and served at various stations including Saipan. In 1946, Buster married Elna Lavon Ostrom in Borger. From 1946 until 1955, Buster was a partner in Caviness Cattle Co. in Raton, N.M., a partner in Caviness and Ostrom Sales in Phillips, and an insurance agent in Amarillo. In 1955, Buster moved to Borger and became president of First Savings and Loan, a position he had for 27 years. While in Borger, Buster was involved in numerous civic affairs including, Rotary Club, Knife and Fork, Methodist Men and Borger Chamber of Commerce. Buster was co-founder of the "Worlds Largest Fish Fry" sponsored by Borger Chamber of Commerce. Buster also served as chairman for HOPE activities, which raises funds for the local cancer foundation. Buster and Lavon moved to Amarillo in 1995, where he was employed by St. Anthony's Hospital and Amarillo High School. He became the Sandies' biggest fan and he loved working with both students and faculty. Buster was a member of SPRINT, an organization which raised funds for the construction of a new track at Amarillo High School. While in Amarillo, Buster was active in Methodist Men, serving as chairman of Polk Street Methodist Annual Golf Tournament, and the Downtown Lions Club, where he served as director. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karla Hayes of Amarillo and Darla Howard of San Antonio; a brother, Herschel Caviness of Portales, N.M.; a sister, Ruby Thomas of Dallas; three grandsons, Lane Rose of Dallas, Kurt Howard of San Antonio and Brent Turner of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Lyndsy Rose of Houston; a great-granddaughter, Miriah Solis Turner of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Polk Street United Methodist Church, 1401 Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101. The family will be at 3412 Danbury St. in Amarillo. Bell St. Mrs. Borum received her nurse's training at age 50 and worked for High Plains Baptist Hospital until she retired. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Paul Borum in 1977, and a son, Kenneth Borum in 2003. Survivors include three daughters, Jimmie Helen Leonard of Magnolia, JoAnn Halbert of Bluffton and Paula Rowan of McMinnville, Ore.; two sisters, Mary Lou Luna and Ouida Luna of Garland; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Husband lived in Clayton, N.M., until 1956, when she moved to Amarillo. She retired from the insurance business and was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by six brothers; three sisters; and two granddaughters. Survivors include two sons, Jack Hemphill and wife, Marilyn, of Bangs and Jerry Hemphill and wife, Sharon, of Amarillo; two sisters, Mary Mitchusson of Clayton and Ostella Wright of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
