Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Jose Catholic Church in Hereford. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Medina married Ramon Medina Sr. in Mexico, and they were married for 50 years. They came to the United States in 1963, moving to Hereford in 1969. Mrs. Medina was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include three daughters, Lucy of Amarillo, and Mary Lou and Olga, both of Hereford; two sons, Ramon Jr. of Hereford and Jorge of the Dallas/Fort Worth area; six brothers, Roberto and Lorenzo, both of California, Reyes of El Paso, Manuel of Hobbs, N.M., and Juanito and Camilo, both of Mexico; a sister, Maria De Jesus of Mexico; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 Amarillo Marguerite Koenig Britt Marguerite Koenig Britt, 80, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport, La., with the Rev. Eddie Dehondt officiating. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park. Mrs. Britt was born in Stoner, Colo., and reared in Delores, Colo. She was a former resident of Pueblo, Colo., where she met her late husband, Albert Vern Britt. After they were married they moved to Shreveport. She was a resident of Shreveport for more than 50 years before moving to Amarillo to be near her daughter. While living in Shreveport, she worked for the Caddo Parish School Board as a lunch room manager. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Britt enjoyed spending six months of every year living in Mancos, Colo., where they enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her sister. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and a former member of Summer Grove Baptist Church of Shreveport. She was loved and will be missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Vern Britt. Survivors include two children, Albert Wayne Britt and wife, Anita Brinson, of Jackson, Miss., and Beverly "Tish" Britt Holloway and husband, Tim, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Jason Britt, Darin Britt, Mark Holloway, Amy Holloway Boren and Jennifer Holloway Osteen; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Summer Grove Baptist Church, 2828 Summer Grove Drive, Shreveport, LA 71118. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 L.B. "Littlin" Rinehart L.B. "Littlin" Rinehart, 68, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with Gary Burd of Christian Heritage Church officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Rinehart was born in Haskell and raised in Amarillo. He worked for Wayne's Used Car for 22 years. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Rinehart and Donnie Rinehart, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruth Burdine of Emery and Toy Rinehart of Brownwood; a brother, Doyle Rinehart of Brownwood; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 Elsewhere Dean Herman Bottlinger HAMILTON - Dean Herman Bottlinger, 64, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John Lutheran Church of Hamilton. Burial will be in Aleman Cemetery of Aleman by Riley Funeral Home. Mr. Bottlinger was born in Aleman to Ermin and Gertrude Bottlinger on Jan. 12, 1939. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1957. He attended Tarleton Junior College from 1957 to 1959 where he was a defensive tackle on the football team. He graduated from Texas A&M College in 1961 with a degree in Entomology. Dean owned his own business in Dallas, Chemical and Turf Specialty Co. from 1971 to 1991. Until his death he was employed as a salesman for Greensmiths in Frisco. Dean was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hamilton and before moving to Hamilton in 1998, Zion Lutheran Church of Dallas. Dean was a hard-working, active man who ran his home, ranch, business and family with love for the Lord. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to watch baseball, football and basketball in his spare time. Dean and Nancy also loved to travel and had vacationed to many places during their marriage. Dean married his high school sweetheart, the former Nancy Jane Leeth on Sept. 10, 1960. They had just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary prior to his death. They lived their lives to the fullest with Christ as the center. He died after a 15 month battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl Bottlinger. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dana Bottlinger Young and husband, Dr. John M. Young, and granddaughters, Caitlyn, Christian, Callan and Camryn Young, all of Amarillo; a son, David Hunter Bottlinger and wife, Shelly Boyd Bottlinger, and granddaughters, Amber and Alyssa Bottlinger, all of Murphy; two brothers, Bryan Bottlinger and wife, Pat, of Hamilton and Wayne Bottlinger and wife, Bernice, of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to St. John Lutheran Church of Hamilton, The American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 Virgil Johnson CROWELL - Virgil Johnson, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with Buster McLaury of Paducah, the Rev. Kenneth Rowland, pastor, and Leslie Thomas of Crowell officiating. Burial will be in Crowell Cemetery by Womack-Manard Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Foard County. He married Bonnie Ownbey on July 1, 1934, in Crowell. Survivors include a son, Duane Johnson of Crowell; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Fire Hall Museum or First United Methodist Church of Crowell. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2002 Richard Earl "Dick" Flesher DALLAS - Richard Earl "Dick" Flesher, 53, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003. Memorial services celebrating his special life will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Northwest Bible Church. Arrangements are by Restland Funeral Home. Mr. Flesher was a beloved husband and wonderful father. Dick was born on Feb. 17, 1950, in Tokyo, Japan, and grew up in Amarillo. In high school, Dick was selected to the Texas All-State Football Team in 1968 while playing linebacker for the Amarillo Sandies. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1972 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Following graduation he married his wife of 30 years Barbara Britain and moved to Dallas where he was in the mortgage business for 30 years. Dick was a dedicated father and loving husband. He'll be most remembered for his love for Jesus Christ. He served him as a Sunday school teacher at Northwest Bible Church, as Scoutmaster, and soccer coach. Dick enjoyed sailing, woodworking, playing basketball, photography, and especially driving his silver Cobra. Dick was loved and admired by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Matthew and Scott: two brothers, Jack and Bob Flesher of Amarillo; and two sisters, Barbara Drake of California and Paula Wakefield of Arizona. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 Frank Guthrie Welsh GRAPEVINE - Frank Guthrie Welsh, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Orr, associate pastor of First Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Welsh was born June 11, 1921, in Sunshine Valley, N.M. He was a former Dumas resident. He was a longime employee of Fish Engineering, supervising heavy plant construction projects in many parts of the United States and the world. He retired from Pan West Corp. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served with the Ninth Army Air Force in Europe during World War II. Frank and Wanda lived in Jasper for many years, pre and post-retirement. They recently moved to Grapevine to be closer to family. The family wishes to thank the Harris-Methodist HEB ICU staff. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wanda Rae; two sons, Frank G. "Jerry" Welsh and wife, Betty, and their family, and James H. White and wife, Tammy; a daughter, Lois Ann Lender; a grandson, James M. Ricks-White and wife, Kymberli; two granddaughters, Kari Renee Boylan and husband, Jeff, their mother, Linda K. White, and Alycia Reynolds and husband, Byron; two stepgranddaughters, Brandy M. Moore and her family and Tiffany A. Smith and her family; a great-grandson, Jamie Reynolds; a great-granddaughter, Zoe Boylan; and numerous other relatives and friends. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 Donald James "Jim" Collier SAN ANGELO - Donald James "Jim" Collier died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003. No services are scheduled as per Jim's wishes. He generously donated his body to the University of Texas Southwest Medical School for research and teaching purposes. Mr. Collier was born Jan. 22, 1932, in San Angelo to R.B. Collier and Jean Spink Collier. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors included a son, Duke Collier of Dallas; a sister, Patsy Ferrell of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 D.M. "Ike" Gilbert FLOMOT - D.M. "Ike" Gilbert, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Flomot Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Addison officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Gilbert was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Hulber to the late Marlin Thomas Gilbert and Mattie R. Gilbert. He was a lifelong resident of Flomot. He married Christeen Merrell on Feb. 4, 1940, in Floydada. He was a farmer and rancher until he retired in 1980. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Straughter Gilbert, Dorsey Gilbert, Lossie Gilbert and John Gilbert; and a sister, Ocie Main. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 18, 2003 New Mexico Dennis Fountas TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Dennis Fountas, 68, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anne's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Fountas was born Nov. 7, 1934, in Tucumcari. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. He served in the Navy for four years. He was a member of the VFW. He was retired from the Tucumcari public school system where he was maintenance supervisor for a number of years. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing at various community functions up until the time of his death. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Chavez and husband, Dr. Ben Chavez, of Amarillo; grandsons, Jonathan and Jordon Chavez, both of Amarillo; and his longtime companion, Beatrice Cassidy and her two sons, Tom and Gene Cassidy. Miss Wilcox was born Nov. 3, 1976, in Hobbs. She was employed at Stratus Techspray as a customer service representative for two years in Amarillo. Survivors include her parents, Paul Ray and Marguerite Wilcox of Lovington; three sisters, Amy Northam of Lubbock, Texas, Bobbie Wilcox of Odessa, Texas, and Cindy Wilcox of Portales; and her grandparents, L.C.
