Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Central Church of Christ with Trey Morgan of Childress Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Dickey was born May 22, 1938, in Paris. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo. He married Myrna Trussell on Aug. 18, 1958, in Amarillo. They moved to Tulia in 1968. He was parts manager for Wilkerson Ford for several years and then with Grabbe-Simpson Chevrolet for several years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue Dickey. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Gigi Barlow of Canyon; two sons, Carl Dickey and Steve Dickey, both of Tulia; five sisters, Betty Ogden, Carlene Mitchell, Edith Davis and Sherry Gates, all of Amarillo, and Delores Justice of Arkansas; and four grandchildren, J'ami Nicole Dickey, Lori Ann Dickey, Kassidy Rochelle Barlow and Cole Kyle Barlow. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 27, 2003 Avis Johnson Fain CLARENDON - Avis Johnson Fain, 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, in Katy. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ned Creswell of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Oaks Creek Ranch Cemetery near Clarendon by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Fain was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Red River County. She was a resident of Estelline before moving to Donley County in 1941. She married Rodney Burchel "Fuzz" Fain on Feb. 26, 1934, in Memphis. She was a homemaker and ranch wife most of her life. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 23, 1984. Survivors include two sisters, Sylvia Copeland of Slaton and Vida Crowder of Yuma, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. Casket bearers will be Fred Molesworth, Jack Craft, Bill Craft, Mitchell Martin, Doug Lowe and Kade Mathews. Kyle Struen officiating. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilly-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Carson was born Nov. 3, 1911, in Cooperton, Okla. She was married to the late Herschell Carson for 71 years. Survivors include three sons, Wayne Carson and Harlan Carson, both of Olton, and Eddy Carson of Dalhart; two daughters, Alene Allcorn and Fern Gunter, both of Olton; four sisters, Sylvia Wilson and Wilma Sanders, both of Holdenville, Okla., Florence Smith of Pflugerville and Rose Evans of Oklahoma City; a brother, Ed Gentry of Orange County, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in Goodlett Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Penick was born June 2, 1906, in Hardeman County. She married L.B. Penick on May 19, 1934, in Quanah. Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 27, 1903, in Martinsburg, Mo. She was a Stratford resident since 1925. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stratford. She taught school in Stratford for 20 years. She was a graduate of Texas Women's University in Denton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peach Smith in 1966. Survivors include a sister, Ruth Kellogg of Atlanta; two brothers, Tom Romans of Huntsville, Ala., and William Meritt Romans of Lampasas; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special families, the Jim Taylor family and the Glenn Slaton family.
