Mrs. Haller was born Aug. 1, 1940, in Lawton, Okla. She had lived in the area since 2001, moving from Lansing, Mich. She married Fred Haller on Sept. 19, 1987, in Grand Ledge, Mich. She was a computer operator for Michigan National Guard and was a member of Victory Family Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Flora Burroughs. Mr. Burch was born Feb. 9, 1928, to Alcuen and Lucy Burch in Quanah. He moved to Mobeetie with his parents in 1928 from Quanah. He graduated from Mobeetie High School. He was known in this area for his carpentry work. He was a member of Mobeetie Methodist Church. He had also preached at the Mobeetie Community Church. Brewington SHAMROCK - J.W. Brewington, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2003. No services are scheduled. Cremation and arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Brewington was born Nov. 11, 1929, to James Willis and Pearl Brewington in Prague, Okla. He married Mary Williams on Aug. 21, 1949, in Miami, Okla. He was a high school coach and principal and taught atOral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., for 15 years before retiring and moving to Shamrock. He was an avid Oklahoma University fan and avid hunter. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Max Brewington of Fort Worth and Richard Ferrell Brewington of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Martha Lynn Jordan of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Jean Ann Triplett of Shamrock; three sisters, Mayme Famuliner of Harrisonville, Mo., and Dortha Burnham and Helen Confer, both of Tulsa; a brother, Bill Brewington of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 16, 2003 Amarillo Christopher Lee Castleberry Christopher Lee Castleberry, 36, of Amarillo, formerly of Childress, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Childress with the Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mr. Castleberry was born June 17, 1967. A Childress High School and Baylor University graduate. He was the Childress Bobcats' all-district quarterback his senior year in high school. He enjoyed sports. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and loved camping. He treasured his time hunting rocks and artifacts with his daughter, Hanna. At the time of his death, he was employed as a regional director of sales for Forester's Equity Services with the professional designation of financial planner and registered principal. He was a devoted husband, father and son and will be dearly missed by those who loved him. His baby boy is due in December. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Castleberry in 1995; and his grandparents, C.C. and Avis Broughton and Vance and Georgia Castleberry, all of Childress. She first taught school for nine years and then joined the staff of Camp Fire Girls Association working in San Francisco, Tulsa, Okla., Amarillo and North Hollywood, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linnaeus Edward Moyer Jr.; her parents, Lambert T. Kinkead, who built the first church for the Delaware Indian Chief Journeycake, and Theresa Louise Zwanzeke; two brothers, Clark M. Kinkead, who headed the agriculture equestrian department of Oklahoma State University and Lambert T. Kinkead, former chief of police of Riverside, Calif.; and two sisters, Louise Kinkead and Frances Kinkead. Survivors include a daughter-in-law and primary caregiver, Nancy Gilmore Moyer; two stepsons, J. Hudson Moyer and Linneaus E. Moyer III; her grandchildren, Jay H. Moyer and Jon G. Mr. Shelton served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Judith Bradley in Las Cruces, N.M., in 1953. They moved to Amarillo in 1956. He retired from Frito Lay after 31 years. Although he was only here a short time, his life impacted many people. Because of Noah's birth, families were blessed, love was abundant and God's grace and mercy were evident. He will forever be remembered as "our tiniest angel." Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church chapel with the Rev. Clifton Mann, rector, officiating. Burial will be private. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd Mrs. Sawyer was born in Pheba, Miss., June 3, 1908, to James G. Tatum III and Mattie Goodwin Rife Tatum. In 1909 she came with her parents to the territory of New Mexico, when they homesteaded at Tatum, N.M. She attended Montezuma College in Montezuma, N.M., Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus and Texas Technological University. On Nov. 20, 1928, she married Ray C. Sawyer, who later was a well-known Amarillo business property investor. In Amarillo, Mrs. Sawyer was active in Amarillo Garden Club and Chapter Z, PEO, serving both organizations as president. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of the third floor, assisted living unit of The Summitt at Westlake Hills for six years of loving care, as well as Hospice Austin and Dr. William Lockett of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977. Survivors include two sons, James T. Kiser, 89, of Canyon died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Ruidoso, N.M. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Kiser was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Alvord. He married Inez Drennan Harding in 1941. He served at a U.S. CCC Camp for three years and then joined the Army. He was assigned to Horse Drawn Field Artillery, a horse mounted troop at Fort Sill, Okla. He served in World War II and after the war, became an electrician. He owned and operated Kiser Electric in Canyon for many years. He was a musician and played guitar, banjo and fiddle in many country swing bands throughout the years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Canyon and VFW Lucius Penick Post 5681 in Canyon. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 26, 1997; his parents, Albert Hunter Kiser and Cora Alice Gilbert Kiser; a daughter, Janice Elaine Kiser Stovall; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include two daughters, Carmen Sue James of Roswell, N.M., and Korene Kiser Walker of Carrizozo, N.M.; two sons, Floyd Dewayne Kiser of Carrizozo and Edwin Lee Kiser of Denton; a brother, Calvin Kiser of Bowie; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 16, 2003 Elsewhere Bobby R. Chaffin MIDLAND - Bobby R. Chaffin, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with Dr. George Wendell Cantrell, brother-in-law and friend, officiating. Arrangements are by Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland. Mr. Chaffin was born on Sept. 9, 1934, in Winters. Early in life he moved to Twitty. He was a 1953 graduate of Shamrock High School in Shamrock. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Beth Horne, also of Shamrock. In 1958 he began a 34-year career in Childress with the Department of Public Safety as a highly decorated and dedicated police officer. Promoted to sergeant in 1971, he moved to Houston. He earned his BS degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston in 1976. Promoted to captain in 1977, he moved to Midland. He was a faithful servant for his Lord in the two local churches he was active in for over 26 years, First Baptist and Stonegate Fellowship. He was a deacon, usher and worked as a volunteer at the Baptist Crisis Center in Midland for many years. He served on the advisory board for Teen Challenge in Midland. The Pride and Joy of his life were his two granddaughters Tara and Brittani, whom he loved with all his heart. He loved to play golf, work in his woodshop, paint beautiful pictures of God's creations and attend high school football games on Friday nights with many friends. His family and friends will love and miss him forever. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy Chaffin of Midland; son, Greg Chaffin and daughter- in-law, Elizabeth Chaffin, and granddaughter Brittani Chaffin all of Midland; and granddaughter, Tara Chaffin Hodges and her husband David Hodges of Odessa.
