Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Dickerson of Bykota Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Larkan was born in Amarillo on June 8, 1955. He attended Palo Duro High School. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. He was an automotive technician and member of Emanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include seven brothers, Danny Larkan, Roy Larkan, Orville Larkan, Kenny Larkan, Dennis Larkan and Mark Larkan, all of Amarillo, and Eddie Larkan of Del Rio; and two sisters, Brenda Weser and Linda Land, both of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2003 Ursula Varga Ursula Varga, 59, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Jose Mangulabnan, of BSA Hospice, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Varga was born in Vienna, Austria. She came to the United States in 1947 and was raised in Chicago. She married Frank Varga in 1964 in Chicago. She moved to Amarillo in 1969 from Chicago. She was a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband; her mother, Anne Oliver of Amarillo; two sons, Michael Varga and Paul Varga, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Marilynn Todd of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Nancy Penland of Lubbock; a brother, Mark Penland of Dallas; five nieces; five nephews; three grandnieces; and three grandnephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2003 Shelia Yvonne Rasco Phipps Shelia Yvonne Rasco Phipps, 48, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Bob Thomas, minister of spiritual care at Crown of Texas Hospice, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Phipps was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She worked as a telephone operator and was a graduate of Palo Duro High School. She was a very loving sister who never failed to say "thank you." Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2003 Laoma Corbitt Laoma Corbitt, 88, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church Chapel with Mark Zimmerman officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery of Woodward, Okla., with Tim Mascarenas officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Corbitt was born in Ada, Okla. She married Elbert Edgar Corbitt on Dec. 24, 1931, and they were married for 70 years. She moved to California in 1943 and worked in the shipyards during World War II. She graduated from the American School with a high school diploma. She was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Fort Supply, Okla. She worked as a psychiatric aide at Western State Hospital in Fort Supply before retiring. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 6, 2002. Survivors include a son, E.L. "Lee" Corbitt and wife, Francis, of Amarillo; granddaughter, Michelle Miskimen and husband, Cory, of Amarillo; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Daniel Miskimen. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2003 Earl Glenn Gore Earl Glenn Gore, 85, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Norman Grigsby, methodist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Gore was born and raised in Belen, N.M. He moved to Amarillo in 1956 from Slaton. He married Cleo Ruth Henderson on July 15, 1938. He worked for Santa Fe Railway for 41 years from 1937 to 1978. At the time of his retirement, he was office manager. He served in the Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the 752 Railway Battalion. He was a member of the Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731 and a 50 year pin recipient of the lodge. He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 83 and a charter member of Kingswood United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Earl James "Jim" Gore and wife, Cathy, and Richard Wayne "Rick" Gore, all of Amarillo; two brothers, William "W.K." Gore of Belen, and Robert J. She attended Texas Woman's University where she would have been a senior in nursing school this fall. Clinton Young, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitfield was born April 5, 1911, in Hillsboro. She had been a resident of Quanah since 1934. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Rine of Quanah; a son, L.O. Whitfield Jr. of Quanah; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church or Quanah Senior Citizens. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2003 Loyd Richardson DUMAS - Loyd Richardson, 67, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Street Church of Christ with Art Lynch, minister, and William Hamilton, elder, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Richardson was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Goree. He had been a Dumas and Moore County resident for 44 years. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ. He was employed by the American Zinc Co., northeast of Dumas, from 1959 until the plant's closure. He operated a successful excavating business, Richardson Backhoe Service, for 30 years and was employed by Jack Oldham Oil Co. for 11 years until his retirement Jan. 1, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Lois; three daughters, Anita Edwards and husband, Gary, of Denver, Darla Simmons and husband, Clint, of Dalhart and Randi Richardson of Dumas; two sons, Dale Richardson and wife, Debbie, and Karl Richardson, all of Dumas; a sister, Wanda Faye Irby of Seymour; and 13 grandchildren. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. today in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church with Monsignor Arturo Maza officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mrs. Dominguez was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Massis, the daughter of Bonificio and Juanita Garcia. She married Henry Dominguez on Aug. 26, 1960, in Vernon. She was a homemaker and secretary for the family business in Hereford and was a member of La Iglesia de San Jose Church in Hereford. She was preceded in death by a son, Benito Dominguez; her father, Bonificio Garcia; and a brother, Jose Garcia. Survivors include her husband; her mother, Juanita Garcia of Hereford; four sons, Henry Dominguez III of Hereford, Raul Dominguez of Elizabethtown, N.C., and Gene Dominguez and Noe Dominguez, both of Amarillo; four daughters, Connie Tamez of Elizabethtown, Anita Trevizo of Amarillo, and Yolanda Lucero and Noelia Dominguez, both of Hereford; a brother, Blas Garcia of Canyon; two sisters, Juanita Dominguez of Dimmitt and Maria Solis of Hereford; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 27, 2003 Barbara Lee Smith BORGER - Barbara Lee Smith, 59, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Scott Maze, of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Spring Creek Elementary School, a graduate of Borger High School and attended West Texas State University. She worked for an import/export company while living in California. She returned to Texas and continued as a bookkeeper and secretary. She also worked for the Borger Police Department and the Hutchinson County Library. She enjoyed being a member of Desk and Derrick. Her hobbies included sewing, needle point, reading and baking birthday cakes. The most enjoyable time in her life was the time she spent with her son growing up. She thrived on sharing life with her grandchildren and their parents. She had joined First Baptist Church early in life and began her walk with the Lord which continued her earthly life. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mid Newby; and a brother, George Newby Jr. in Oct. 2000. Survivors include a son, Mike Smith and wife, Carrie, of Borger; two sisters, Becky Alexander and Betty Ann Newby, both of Borger; three grandchildren, BreAnna, Michael and Whitney Smith, all of Borger; six nephews; a niece; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and a great-great-nephew.
