Services will be at 3 p.m. today in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Gordon, pastor of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Gene Gordon, a United Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Hernandez was born in Paulding, Ohio, and had been a resident of Amarillo for 53 years. She was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and was an interpreter for Spanish/English language services. Mrs. Hernandez was very family oriented. She loved her family and enjoyed PTA and church activities with her children. She was a band homeroom mother. An artist, she also loved to play the piano and tap dance. She married Steve Hernandez on July 12, 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 12, 2000; and four sisters, Mary Duran, Remedios Guillen, Mary Louise Ortiz and Genevieve Musquiz. Survivors include eight children, Yvette Bustillos, Steve Hernandez Jr., Arthur Hernandez, Jeannie Morales, Corrine Zambrano, Christine Castillo, Sara Renteria and Don Hernandez, all of Amarillo; a sister, Isabel Orosco of Garden City, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Delashaw was born and raised in Cleburne, and was a graduate of Cleburne High School. She married Thomas Benton Delashaw Jr. in 1933 in Dallas. Mrs. Delashaw had been a resident of Amarillo since 1946. She was active with their family businesses, Green Acres Pharmacy and Westhaven Pharmacy for many years. She was also a homemaker, as well as a 50-year member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; a son, Thomas Benton Delashaw III in 2003; and a grandson, Sam Elkins in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Laney of Dallas and Lee Farr of Amarillo; her brother-in-law, General Robert Lee Delashaw of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Wynne, 74, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Wynne was born and raised in Shreveport, La. He graduated from Fair Park High School. He married Margie Shirley in 1946 in Shreveport. He moved to Amarillo in 1952 and went to work for the police department. He retired as chief of detectives in 1972. He was a Mason, a member of Indian Guides, Civitan Club and a charter member of Texas Association of Polygraph Examiners. He was appointed to the State Board of Polygraph Examiners by Gov. John Connally. He was instrumental in starting the Amarillo Police Benefit Fund for stranded motorists. He was active with the PTA and gave programs for school children. He was president of Amarillo council for mentally retarded. Mr. Wynne was a born-again Christian. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Nolte of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three sons, Jim Wynne, Kelley Wynne and Roger Wynne, all of Amarillo; a brother, Noble Wynne of Pasadena; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Bell St. Mr. Spear was born April 5, 1925, in Lakeview, to Thomas Edgar Spear and Lora Mae Coleman. He graduated from Amherst High School at age 17 and enlisted in the Navy. He served in the South Pacific campaign in World War II aboard the USS Crouter. He married Cherrill "Cherry" in April 1982 in Memphis. Mr. Spear was employed as a cattle rancher, farmer and a Realtor broker. He was a lifelong Texas resident and a former deacon of Palo Duro Baptist Church. He was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Eulogist will be Dr. Robert Morrison. Mr. Hassell was born to Lester and Irene Hassell in Amarillo, where he lived his whole life. He married Margaret "Peggy" Ramsay on April 25, 1953, in Amarillo. He owned Tri-State Parts Warehouse Inc. until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Automotive Wholesalers of Texas and served as president in 1986. He also owned Sam's Restaurant in 1990. Mr. Hassell served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Loretta; his parents; a sister, Betty Stefanik; and his brother, Lester Hassell. She was a Dumas and Moore County resident since 1949. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dumas. She was a former member of 1932 Study Club and a former member of Palo Duro Home Demonstration Club. She assisted in organizing a PTA at Palo Duro Grade School and would organize fund raising projects to help stop polio. She was a homemaker. She married Claude Earl Higley on June 2, 1941, in Atchison. She was preceded in death by her husband in November 1990, and a grandson, Bryan Wayne Higley in September 1973.
