Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. McGill was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Levelland. In 1926 her family moved to Erick, Okla., where they lived until 1938, when, as she put it, "the bad times came." They then moved to San Antonio. At age 17 she married her longtime sweetheart and friend, Bill Corbitt McGill, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jerene Ellyce Maxwell and Bettie Sue McGill of Amarillo; five sisters, Nadine Ertell, Billie Mae McGill, Nettie Lue Ecell, Neggie Sue McCoy and Joy Nell Looper; three brothers, Donald Earl Meares, Ray Arnold Meares and Franky Joe Meares; five grandchildren, Kristy Lammes, Keith Bartlett and Jeffrey, Jason and Debra Maxwell; and 13 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 18, 2003 Myrtle Hunnicutt Myrtle Hunnicutt, 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. Mrs. Hunnicutt had been a member of WIBC for more than 30 years. She had an incredible presence and will always be remembered for her generosity, spirited personality and the love she had for her family. Mrs. Hunnicutt gave her entire heart to her family and that is her greatest legacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1986; a daughter, Audrey Mitchell in 1979; and a grandson, Mike Mitchell in 1989. Franklin Williams officiating. Burial will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Schwan was born in Sheridan, Wyo., on March 27, 1920. His family moved to Amarillo in 1928, where he graduated from Amarillo High School. He married Grace Louise Carpenter on Aug. 31, 1942, in Amarillo. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II and worked after that as a postal employee. Mr. Schwan then started work for the Atomic Energy Commission living in Los Alamos, N.M., and Dayton, Ohio, before retiring with the federal government as a security specialist. When they returned to Amarillo in the 1970s they were active members in Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a clerk of the session. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001. Survivors include a niece, Judy Garrett and husband, Bill, of Granbury; a brother-in-law, Virgil Carpenter and wife, Olledine, of Amarillo; his cousins, Ruthann Clayton and husband, Roger, of Odessa, Wanda Milligan of Lubbock and Julie Pearson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and special friends, Joy and Ray Clark of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 18, 2003 Sarah Margaret Farnan Sarah Margaret Farnan, 88, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Farnan was born in Alba, Mo., and raised in Baxter Springs, Kan. She completed her registered nurse training at Kansas City General Hospital in 1940. She married John F. Farnan Jr. on July 1, 1941, in Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Farnan was the registered nurse supervisor at Southwest Osteopathic Hospital in Amarillo from 1969 to 1986, where she was best known as "Boss Lady" to her coworkers. From 1986 until her retirement in 1988 she was the L.V.N. clinical instructor at Clarendon College. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church from 1962 to 1989 and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters and her husband, John, who died March 27, 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Sarabeth Matheson of Amarillo; a son, John F. "Trey" Farnan III of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Amanda S. Matheson of Austin, Marcus L. Matheson of San Marcus and John Wesley Farnan of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 18, 2003 Elsewhere Lynn Dupree Tull DALLAS - Lynn Dupree Tull, formerly of Amarillo, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. A service of celebration will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oak Lawn United Methodist Church. Mrs. Tull died in her home after a two-year battle with brain cancer. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother; a gifted and caring teacher, an effective civic and church leader and a faithful minister's wife. Her two great loves were teaching and music. Her formal education included Cottey College and Southern Methodist University, where she earned two degrees: a bachelor of arts and a master of liberal arts. In 1969, at Polk Street United Methodist, she married the Rev. Justin W. Tull, a United Methodist minister. She served with him in United Methodist churches of Garland, Wolfe City, Cooper, DeSoto, Dallas, Denton and most recently at Oak Lawn United Methodist Church in Dallas. She will long be remembered for her loving attention to her students, most recently at Strickland Middle School and the Episcopal School of Dallas, where she was recently honored by having the future handbell room named after her. In the past 30 years, she had started six handbell choir programs. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Dupree of Amarillo; her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Tull of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Cruden of Dallas; and a grandson, Owen Riley Cruden of Dallas. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 18, 2003 Betty Kritser Johnson FORT WORTH - Betty Kritser Johnson, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Johnson, the daughter of Ursula and Gerald Knight, was born in Madison, Wis., on June 29, 1925. She moved to Texas with her family in 1926, as her father was a geologist with Phillips Petroleum. She graduated from Amarillo High School and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Texas. She married David S. Krister Jr. and they began their life together on the Kritser Ranch, north of Amarillo. Later, she moved to Amarillo and became a member of Junior League of Amarillo and became its president in 1962. She was the first woman elected to the Amarillo Independent School District Board and was its president when the original Amarillo High School burned down in 1970. She was also very active with the Children's Home at 34th and Bowie. After David Kritser's death in 1968, Betty married J. Lee Johnson III in 1978 and moved to Fort Worth, where she had lived until the present. Survivors include her children, Ann Kritser Gunn and husband, Vince, of Wichita Falls, and David Kritser and wife, Sally, and John Kritser and wife, Nancy, all of Amarillo; her stepchildren, Sheila B. Johnson, J. Lee Johnson IV and wife, Renee, Kate L. Johnson and Mark L.
