Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Bird officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Sanford was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Boise, Idaho, the son of Edwin Helmbolt and Maryle Martens. At a very young age, he was adopted by Delbert and Alvina Sanford. He married Maria Leyva in 1970 in El Paso. He worked as a radio communications engineer for W.T. Services in Hereford for more than 20 years. He was a veteran having served in the Air Force. While serving as a first sergeant in the New Mexico National Guard, he received the outstanding service award for a section leader and the governor of New Mexico presented Ron a commendation award of merit for his service. He attended Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz, Calif., and George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. He had been the assistant pastor of a church in Albuquerque, N.M., and a deputy sheriff of Dona Ana County in New Mexico. He was a member of the Hereford Elks Lodge and the Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 849. He was preceded in death by a brother. Survivors include his wife; Ron and Maria's daughters, Lupe Schneider of Amarillo and SueAnn Sanford of Chicago; two sons, Frank and Stephen Sanford, both of Salem, Ore.; four daughters, Rhonda Kiersey, Carol Chapman, Donna Wilding and Robin Sanford, all of Salem; two brothers, Richard Sanford of California and Edwin Helmbolt of Denver; and 14 grandchildren. Mrs. Osborn was a longtime Friona resident and homemaker. She was a member of Friona United Methodist Church. She worked at the old Northwest Texas Hospital for more than 10 years. She was a member of Eastridge Baptist Church and served at anything that needed to be done. Survivors include a son, Albert O. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1975. She was a homemaker and coordinated the pre-school Bible school department for her church. Mrs. Garvert was born May 30, 1920, in New York City. She and her husband, Freddy, moved to Amarillo in 1956 and have resided there ever since. They celebrated 57 years of marriage in July. She was a unit manager of St. Anthony's Hospital before she retired. After retirement, she volunteered her time at Polk Street United Methodist Thrift Store for 15 years.
