Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Hale Center with the Rev. Bob O'Daniel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mrs. Smith was born to William Riley Parker and Effie Vidue Smith Parker on Sept. 1, 1911, near Dunlap. She married George Edward Smith on March 9, 1932, in Muleshoe, accompanied by lifetime friends, Jack and Daisy Bell Anderson. For the most part, her work was in the home, and volunteering her assistance in sponsoring school activities while their four children moved through the school system over a period of 20 plus years. She was preceded in death by a son, Dwain Parker Smith in 1962; a daughter, Wynogean Smith Nelson in 1992; her husband, George Edward Smith in 2002; and her only brother, Jesse Parker in 1995. Survivors include two sons, Edward Bailey Smith and wife, Beth, of Copperas Cove and Donnie Jesse Smith and wife, Donna, of Canyon; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Rice was born and raised in Amarillo. He was a 1975 graduate of Tascosa High School and graduated from Texas Tech in 1979. He wrestled for Tascosa where he won the heavyweight city championship, and was Texas Collegiate State Champion while at Texas Tech. He served as a counselor at Texas Rotary Diabetes Camp for two summers. Scott studied judo and karate under Tim Joe and held a black belt degree in both. He moved from Houston to Dallas in 1992, where he worked for Looney Litigation Services. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Bell St. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Aurora, Neb., on July 15, 1912. She married James Harold Mitchell on June 14, 1937, in Lincoln, Neb., and he preceded her in death in 1998. She graduated from the University of Nebraska. She was a teacher at Tascosa High School until she retired in 1974. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Jim Mitchell of Amarillo; a daughter, Jane Stewart of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 25, 2003 Ross Camarata Ross Camarata, 72, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Camarata was born and raised in Independence, La., and was a 1948 graduate of Independence High School. He joined the Air Force in March 1951 and became a medic in Amarillo. There he met Pat "Bo" Fuqua and they married Sept. 13, 1952. He left the Air Force in 1955 and went to work for Bunny Bread until 1956. He then went to work for Heath Furniture Co. until 1962. He worked for Herring Furniture as an interior decorator and soon became sales manager. In 1979, he purchased the Juke Box No. 17 and West Texas Furniture. He changed the name to S&R Furniture. He sold the business and retired in 1989. He bought and sold fishing "stuff" for many years. He had been a member of Paramount Baptist Church for more than 40 years. He will be remembered as a very loving and giving dad, and for trying to give good "fishing" advice. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002; his parents; two sisters, Katie and Mary, both of Louisiana; a brother, Bennie of Louisiana; his father-in-law, Paul Fuqua; and a sister-in-law, Louise Barrett. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Thomason and husband, James, of Amarillo; a son, Scott and wife, Shana, of Amarillo; his brand-new grandson, Cole "Ross" Camarata of Amarillo; his mother-in-law, Loneta Fuqua; a brother-in-law, Lee Barrett; a niece, Cindy Barrett; many other family and friends; and Piddles the Poodle. He was a carpenter and a game warden for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Canyon. He was a veteran of the Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Ann Hernandez in 1986; a brother, Aniceto; and a sister, Adeliada. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Wiley was born on the family homestead at Happy Union, on Jan. 8, 1918. Mrs. Wiley was a bookkeeper for Robinson Trucking Co., retiring in 1985. She was a Borger resident for 67 years. She had a love and a passion for gardening and her yard, which was one of the prettiest on her block. From her garden she shared vegetables with her neighbors around her. Also in her yard on the back and side fences she had grapevines growing and she made jelly for herself and her family, even shipping to Alaska. She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Desk and Derrick Club and Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Wiley on April 16, 1965; her parents, Alvin and Annie Matsler; a son-in-law, Clifford Ogletree; a grandson, Steven Ogletree; and a granddaughter, Rona Jan Ogletree.
