Zachary Corp. He served in the Navy from 1960 to 1964, and was a member of American Legion No. 554. Hughes St. Mr. Miller was a longtime Amarillo resident and a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was born in Clarksville. Survivors include a brother, R.C. Miller of Clarksville; three sisters, Mamie Washington of Clarksville, Virginia Maholmes of Mineola and Florence Powell of Houston; a stepbrother; two stepsisters; and his grandmother, Jimmie Miller of Salt Lake City. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 4, 2003 Dorothy Ann Kinney Dorothy Ann Kinney, 83, of Amarillo died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Jim Bankhead officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Kinney was born in Amarillo on March 13, 1920. She attended University of Texas Plan II and graduated from University of Texas School of Law in 1943, one of four female graduates that year. During her law school tenure, she worked for the Texas Legislature and then worked for the general counsel of the U.S. Treasury in Washington, D.C., after graduation. Upon her return to Amarillo, she began private practice as an estate tax attorney and became an officer of the Amarillo Bar Association during her second year of practice. Mrs. Kinney practiced law continuously for 58 years. An avid volunteer, Dorothy Kinney served on the boards of United Way, Art Center, YWCA, Junior League and Epilepsy Foundation. She was elected the first female president of the Amarillo Symphony. She also served two terms as president and was a board member of Maverick Boys Club for more than 25 years. While on that board she worked to make the Maverick Club a center for both boys and girls. She married Sterling E. Kinney, who preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include three daughters, Ann Miranda, Leslie Nimmo and Julie K. Attebury, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Adams and Charles Adams. Mrs. Creps was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Hollis, Okla., to W.L. Trammell and Gladys Rippetoe. She was married to Norman Poire for 26 years. He preceded her in death in 1992. In 1984, she married Bill Creps. She was married to him for 12 years before his death in 1996. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Amarillo Primitive Baptist Church with R.A. Tindall, elder, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Tibbets was reared in House, N.M., where he attended school. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He married Reba Farris on Dec. 5, 1943, in Amarillo. Mr. Tibbets was a mail carrier in Amarillo for 35 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Ric Tibbets in 1987. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday school class. Mrs. Cherryhomes enjoyed sewing, not only for herself but for many friends. She married L.R. Cherryhomes on Nov. 10, 1927, in Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Oveta Gilbert of Amarillo and Helen Neagle of Lubbock; a son, Dale R. Cherryhomes of Amarillo; a brother, Brinson L. Mrs. Campsey was born in Frederick, Okla., and was raised in Amarillo. She attended and was in the first class at Tascosa High School. She married Jerry A. Campsey on Aug. 2, 1959, in Amarillo. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for many years. She moved to Lubbock in 1976 and was a member of Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Campsey in 2001. Survivors include her husband; three sons, David A. Campsey of Amarillo, Mark N. Campsey of Austin and Scott R. Mr. Hibbs was born July 19, 1936, in Cuba, Ohio. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. She was a factory worker for Douglas Aircraft. Survivors include a sister, Opal Blakely of Hereford; and a brother-in-law, Jim Nichols of Tempe, Ariz. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 4, 2003 Dennis Cleo Ledbetter DALHART - Dennis Cleo Ledbetter, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Stephen Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Ledbetter was born March 2, 1913, in Davidson, Okla., the son of Grover and Rena Ledbetter. He was raised in Oklahoma and central Texas until the family settled on a farm near Channing in 1921. Cleo graduated from Channing High School in 1932. He was an active athlete particularly loving tennis and basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lewis, also of Channing on Dec. 22, 1933, and they began farming in the area. Due to the loss of their home in a tornado in 1942 they moved to Dallas, where Cleo was a line foreman for North American Aviation building AT-6 and P-51 aircraft for the war effort. They returned from Dallas for a short time of farming near Springer, N.M. They moved to Dalhart in 1952, and farmed on the Etter highway where they remained until moving to Dalhart on Cherry Avenue in 1974. Cleo was one of the pioneers of irrigation in the area, having one of the first irrigation wells drilled in the two-county area. He was active as a deacon and trustee at First Baptist Church for more than 40 years. There he also taught men and boys' Sunday school. He was a DISD school board member for many years and a charter member of Dallam-Hartley Counties Water Conservation District Board. Cleo and Mary had relocated to Amarillo for heatlh reasons earlier this year. He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Weldon; and a little sister, Ruby. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ruby Depuy and husband, Duane, of Amarillo; two sons, Clyde Ledbetter and wife, Kathy, of Amarillo and Robert Ledbetter and wife, Barbara, of Dalhart; a sister, Margaret Goodrich and husband, Earl, of Pritchet, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Charlotte Evans and husband, Billy, of Monte Vista, Colo., Curtis Depuy and, Penny, of Cornelius, N.C., Tina Walser and husband, Robert, of Waxahachie, Tamara Ramirez and husband, Juan, of Amarillo, Matthew Ledbetter of Omaha, Neb., and Sarah Ledbetter, Rachel Ledbetter and Caleb Ledbetter, all of Dalhart; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gourley was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Phoenix. She grew up and attended schools in the Amarillo, Texas, area. "Bill" White TYRONE, Okla. - William D. "Bill" White, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Liberal, Kan. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Tyrone United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Trobaugh and the Rev. Greg Keith officiating. Burial will be in Tyrone Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker. Mr. White was born Aug. 7, 1932, in East Prairie, Mo., the son of William Joseph and Victoria Hackworth White. He grew up and attended school in this area. The family then moved to Chicago. During the Korean War, Bill served in the Army and after his honorable discharge he returned to Chicago. On Aug. 20, 1955, in Heranodo, Miss., Bill was united in marriage to Fonda Rose Star. They made their home in Chicago until 1958 when they moved to Tyrone. They moved back to Chicago for two years before returing to Tyrone. Bill worked as a welder for Texas County District 1, working out of Hooker. Bill was a member of Tyrone United Methodist Church. He loved to fish, hunt and work in his welding shop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Russell White; a granddaughter, Amy Gardner; two brothers, Dock White and Homer White; and five sisters, Lorene Jones, Thelma Hayden, Christine Byford, Toot Sisk and Willie Mae Mobbs.
