Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Barney Railsback, pastor of Irwin Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Frazier was born in Chillicothe and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1955. She was a member of Irwin Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Frazier married R.T. Frazier on April 11, 1932, in Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, and a grandson, Michael Childress in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Childress of Amarillo; two sisters, Unabee Logsdon and Marie Glover, both of Vernon; two granddaughters, Leslie Vann and Tina Smith, both of Amarillo; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. He had lived in Fritch for 29 years before moving to Amarillo 2 years ago. He served in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring and later worked as a security guard for IBP. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Fritch. He married Lorene C. Rasmuss on Aug. 6, 1956, in Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife Nov. 10, 2002. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Sipes Springs Cemetery in Comanche County. Mr. Line was born in O'Donnell to Harvey H. Line and Alta Rodgers on Dec. 13, 1932. He was an awesome tennis player in his earlier years. He was also a talented musician, gifted in both piano and organ. Harrell taught math at Amarillo College from 1961 to January 1990. He was a resident of Amarillo for 30 years. He had been a member of First Baptist Church and was in the senior adult choir for many years. He was also a member of the Art Thibodeaux Sunday school class. He leaves behind many dear friends too numerous to list. Those he was especially close to include Mary Lou Hesse, Dave Schmedel, Art and Greta Thibodeaux and Dwanna and Alex Martinez. Dwanna summed up his life when she said, "He was truly a Christian gentleman." Survivors include a sister, Lamoyne Line Houser of Comanche; a brother, Rodger N. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Mr. Hayward was born June 18, 1924, in Neosho, Cherokee County, Kan. He was a resident of Blue Jacket, Okla., before moving to Amarillo 19 years ago. He married Earl Dean "Jayne" Wilson on Aug. 22, 1944, in Hays, Kan. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines for 31 years before his retirement. He was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife Nov. 24, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Wilson Hayward of Lubbock and Walter Myrl Hayward of Sand Springs, Okla.; a brother, Jimmy Hayward of Vinita, Okla.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. "Bud" Parker, 94, of Canyon died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Clark Williams and the Rev. Donna Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Parker was born in Lamoni, Iowa, in 1909 to Bessie and O.W. Parker Sr. He had two brothers and one sister. After moving to Independence, Mo., he attended public school. He also attended the University of Kansas. He married Irene Beagel at Olathe, Kan., on Nov. 9, 1941. He served during World War II in the Air Force from 1942 to 1945 as an aerial gunner on a B-12 airplane. Mr. Parker and his family moved to Canyon in 1946 and he was owner and operator of Western Auto store until his retirement. He continued to live in Canyon after his retirement. During his life in Canyon, he was a member of Rotary Club for 25 years, received the Silver Beaver Award in Boy Scouts of America, was a Mason, a member of Eastern Star, Khiva Temple and American Legion. He served as a commissioner for the city of Canyon, served as a volunteer at the fire department for 21 years, was past president of the Chamber of Commerce and was active in Little League Baseball. He attended First United Methodist Church of Canyon. He was preceded in death by a sister, Camille Moe; two brothers, Monte Parker and Paul Parker; and a granddaughter, Melanie Mickey. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Mickey and husband, Vernon, of Canyon; a son, Craig Parker and wife, Cathy, of Dallas; four granddaughters, Shelle Baker and husband, Keith, of Clanton, Ala., Melissa Lawson and husband, Charles, of Plainview, and Lindsay Parker and Lexie Parker, both of Dallas; two great-granddaughters, Kaitlin and Kristin Lawson; and two nephews, Kempel Wilhelmsen of Prescott, Ariz., and Eugene Wilhelmsen of Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Heiskell was born April 5, 1940, in Trinidad, Colo., to Hisel and Rebecca (Weatherford) Wells. She was raised by Rebecca and J.H. Cook after moving to Dalhart as a child. Jamie attended schools in Dalhart and married Greg Heiskell on Sept. 25, 1982, in Clayton, N.M. They made their home in Dalhart until moving to Amarillo in 1989. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Debbie Moreno of Amarillo; a sister, Lorene Ballew of Dalhart; a brother, J.W. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 9, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area John Cecil "Jay" Claborn FRIONA - John Cecil "Jay" Claborn, 83, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Lubbock. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Friona United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, west of Friona by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Claborn was born July 16, 1920, in Post, the son of John and Cordie Claborn. After graduating high school, Mr. Claborn joined the Army during World War II. He was a staff sergeant medic with the 328th Infantry Combat Team attached to the 26th Infantry Division. Mr. Claborn fought in five major battles which include the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes forest, the Invasion of Normandy, the Northern France Campaign, the Rhineland Campaign and the Central Europe Campaign. He was awarded four Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, the Croix de Guerre, Medal of Honor from France, the Belgium Medal of Honor and the American Defense Service Medal. After being discharged from the Army on Sept. 30, 1945, Mr. Claborn enrolled in Landig College of Mortuary Science School in Houston. He graduated from Mortuary School in 1947. Mr. Claborn owned and operated Claborn Funeral Home in Friona for more than 30 years, and was a funeral director for more than 50 years. In 1957, Mr. Claborn served as president of Friona Chamber of Commerce. He also served as president of Friona Evening Lions Club, past president of Friona Boosters Club, served as the mayor of Friona, and in 1953 was elected Justice of the Peace for Parmer County. In 1966, Mr. Claborn was voted Man of the Year of Friona. He was a past president of Panhandle Funeral Directors Association and a past director of the Texas Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association. Mr. Claborn was a life member of Friona V.F.W. Post No. 1413 and Friona American Legion Post No. 209. In 1997, Mr. Claborn married Jonell Clark in Friona and was a member of the Friona United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two sons and 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. Jobey Claborn and wife, Janet, of Muleshoe; two step-daughters, Diana Russell and Teresa Carter, both of Clovis, N.M.; two sisters, Faye Strickland of Plano and Lois Staley of Searcy, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jackie Claborn of Dallas, Jason Claborn of Lubbock and Amy Claborn of Arvada, Colo.
