Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Robin Gantz, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Massengale was born Jan. 4, 1908, in Bell County and came to Pampa that same year. She was a graduate of Miami High School and attended West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon. She was the first student and last teacher at the "Little Red Schoolhouse" north of Pampa. She married Joe Massengale on Dec. 21, 1935, in Pampa. She and her husband owned and operated Hoover Mercantile and the post office in Hoover. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Wayside Club. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Nita Tomlinson and husband, Mart, of Marble Falls; a granddaughter, Cara Tomlinson of Austin; two sisters, Minnie Olive Jackson and Roberta Pugh, both of Pampa; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery. Mr. Cobb was born May 11, 1913, in Armstrong County. He was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County. He was a farmer and rancher. He was past president of Claude School Board, past vice-president of Federal Land Bank, past chairman of ASCS and had served on the Claude City Council. He belonged to American Hereford Association, American Quarter Horse Association and Panhandle Livestock Breeders. He was a 60-year member of Claude Masonic Lodge No. 719, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star. He had served as county chairman for various Democratic candidates. He was a member of First Christian Church of Claude. During their married life, they lived in Hall County, Dalhart and Pampa. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, and he was a firefighter. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1947, moving to Plainview in 1995. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Fireman's Auxiliary Club. She was preceded in death by her husband in February 1985; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include a son, Joe D. She lived in Amarillo most of her life. She was a 2002 graduate of Amarillo High School. She joined the Army Reserves where she served as a private first class from Feb. 2, 2001, to July 21, 2003. She received a letter of commendation on Aug 16, 2001, for being an honor graduate of the #36-01 class and citing her academic and military accomplishments. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 11, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bobby Kathryn Bobbitt Myers Bobby Kathryn Bobbitt Myers, 74, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003. Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Allen Burkhalter officiating. Mrs. Myers was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Clayton, N.M., and went to be with her Jesus on Saturday. Bobby attended high school in Clayton, N.M. She then attended Northwest Texas Nursing School, graduating in 1968. Mrs. Myers worked for Northwest Texas Hospital and Fort Sam Houston Medical Center in San Antonio. Then she returned to Amarillo to work for the VA Hospital and Bivins Memorial Nursing Home. After years of nursing she retired but never quit nursing completely. Bobby married Johnny Eckert, with whom she had three children, Sandra K. Eckert, Linda L. Eckert Ballard and Allen "Bubba" Eckert. After Johnny's death, she married William "Bill" McKee and at the same time received a very precious gift of a daughter, Cheri McKee Pownall. Bobby and Bill had a son, Robert F., in 1954. Bobby then married Charlie E. Myers. Bobby's family was very important to her, both physically and spiritually. Her love was never demanding or judgmental. She had repeatedly asked that all live by God's grace. Her fondest memories were of being on the farm and with family. Bobby buried three husbands, two children and watched many grandchildren and great-grandchildren be removed from the family. She never gave up on God's love to help bring the children back together. She now has put everything in God's hands. She was preceded in death by her three husbands; a daughters, Cheri McKee Pownall; a son, Allen "Bubba" Eckert; and a sister, Bonny Pearson. Survivors include two daughter, Sandra Woodard of Borger and Linda Ballard of Clayton, N.M.; a son, Robert F. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1962 and served in the Navy for 13 years from 1962 to 1974. He was stationed in Nashville, Amarillo and Vietnam. He married Ruby Futch in 1994 and had been a resident of Amarillo for many years. He worked for John Chandler Ford and was in the restaurant business for five years at Mother Futch's on East Interstate 40. He served his last four years in the Navy as a recruiter in the Amarillo area. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Sailors. Herbel, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Houston. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Church of the Nazarene with Dr. David Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Herbel was born July 18, 1942, in Hooker. He married Sharon Renfro on Nov. 15, 1969. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Timothy Herbel and Jeffery Herbel, both of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; a brother, George Herbel of San Antonio; a sister, Pauline Spohn of Liberal, Kan.; and a stepsister, Ruth Jane Lees of Hooker.
