Services will be Friday at the family ranch. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Early was born Dec. 28, 1916, in Hereford. She had worked for Sakowitz as a buyer in the bridal and cosmetics departments. Survivors include a son, Wendell Wilson of Wildorado; a brother, Wayne Higgins; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Ledbetter was born Jan. 3, 1912, in Dallas. He was a 1930 graduate of Oak Cliff High School in Dallas and received a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University in 1934. He married Elaine Walker on June 26, 1942, in Tonkawa, Okla. He coached football and taught math and science at high schools in Milford, Canton, St. Jo, and Blackwell, Okla. He was a high school football and basketball official. He worked for Skelly Oil from 1942 until 1977, retiring as personnel administrator. He was very active in First United Methodist Church, having served as chairman of the finance committee and administrative board. He was chairman of the house and grounds committee for 16 years. He was a member of WinSome Sunday school class for several years and was a member of the Men's Fellowship Class. He was a member and past president of Pampa Rotary Club and Knife and Fork Club. He was a volunteer for Pampa Meals on Wheels. He organized Skel-Tex Credit Union. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 8, 2002. Survivors include a cousin, Leonard Sullivan of Waxahachie; and his caregivers, Maria Vasquez, Emma Trejo and Kelly Collins, all of Pampa. Mrs. Berner was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Magnolia, Ark., to Erman Weldon and Cladys Ward Dickson. She was raised in southwestern Arkansas. She was a graduate of Apostolic Faith Bible College. She married Wallace Dean Berner in 1955. She lived in Pasadena for five years before moving to the Spearman area in 1957, where her family had a farming operation. In 1998, they retired to Mills, N.M. Mrs. Berner was the office manager for Jarvis Law Firm for 14 years in Spearman before moving to New Mexico. In New Mexico, she worked for Harding County Soil and Water Conservation District. She was a member of Mosquero Community Church, where she served as a pianist and coordinated weekly Sunday church dinners. She was also a member of Holt Community Extension Club and Gladiola Flower Club. She was preceded in death by her parents. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Todd was born on a farm near Bushland on Dec. 4, 1932, to Mary Eleanor Brice Williams and Clay Gecovey Williams. She and her family moved to the Spurlock community in Sherman County in 1938. She attended Spurlock schools in grades one, three and four. In 1942, schools in Sherman County consolidated and she attended Stratford schools and graduated in 1950. She married Roy Harvey "Bud" Coffman on Nov. 4, 1950. They moved to Highmore, S.D., in 1951 and then moved back to Stratford in 1954. She moved to Amarillo in 1972 and was employed by Kmart and then worked at Pantex until her retirement in 1996. She married Charles Todd on May 16, 1980. She was a 4-H Gold Star Girl, a member of Retired Pantexans and Mescalero Baptist Church. She participated in singing groups from First Free Will Baptist, Bethel Assembly Church, Grace Fellowship, Tradewind Assembly of God Church and HOOTS (Harmonica Organization of Texas). She was preceded in death by her first husband; her second husband on July 21, 1999; a brother, Clay Gecovey "Sonny" Williams; and a sister, Cynthia Miley. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by DAV Chapter 26. Mr. Pitts volunteered for the draft in February 1941 and was due to be released in December 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He was in the first boat of troops to land in North Africa and was involved in the battle of Kasserine Pass. He was a veteran of Anzio, wounded in Italy and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from civil service from the Amarillo Air Force Base in 1969 as superintendent of maintenace for the entire base. He retired as plumbing shop foreman and from AISD in 1986. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a life member of Military Order of the Purple Heart and Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Walls Pitts on April 18, 1970. Survivors include three children, Iris Ellison and husband, Don, of Edgewood, Thomas M. Pitts and wife, Sharon, of Baytown and Travis K. Pitts and wife, Susan, of Amarillo; a longtime friend, Mardy Watkins of Amarillo; two brothers- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Mr. Campbell was born in Amarillo on Aug. 12, 1926. He accepted the Lord as his savior when he was a boy. A graduate of Amarillo College and West Texas State University, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a radioman in the Philippines and earned the middleweight boxing title of the South Pacific. In 1947, he joined his parents in establishing Camel Candy Co. in a converted garage. The business grew to become one of the largest producers of hard candies in the nation. He served as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon at West Amarillo Christian Church. He was a Boy Scout leader, and a Little League baseball and football coach. He received the Luther Gulick award from Campfire Girls. He moved to El Paso in 1982, where he joined First Baptist Church. After retiring from the candy business, he began working with Coldwell Bankers de Wetter Hovious Real Estate Co. In 1989, he married Lorita McNiece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cassie Campbell; a sister, Katie; and a son, Patrick. Mr. Stone was born March 3, 1918, in Wayland, Iowa. He was a member of Waterville United Methodist Church and Waterville Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Thomas J. Mrs. Barclay was born April 6, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., to John Bennett Woodward and Grace Baker Woodward. She married Arthur Hugh Barclay on May 19, 1938, in Ferguson, Mo. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Amarillo and Daughters of the King P.E.O. She was the past chapter national and international delegate to the P.E.O. conventions. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Myatt of Denton; a son, Don Barclay of Allen; a sister, Martha Elizabeth Smith of Adrian, Mich.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was a former employee of American Land Title Co. for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmo Whisenhunt; and two brothers, Lloyd Eppler and Archie Eppler. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Merkel of Mesa; a brother, Clifford Eppler of Globe; four sisters, Florence Langford and Lois Cutler, both of Mesa, Cladys Stinebaugh of Phoenix and Lorene Currence of Kingswood, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Raintree Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Carmen and the Rev. Lanny Hemmings officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens in Woodrow by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Frentress was born July 7, 1925, into the family of John and Flora in Athens. He married Kathryn Morris on May 10, 1947. John was a member of Raintree Christian Church, where he was a deacon for many years and a member of Ambassador Sunday School Class. John served our country in the Army as a sergeant in World War II from 1943 to 1946, where he fought on Luzon, Leyte, Samar and New Guinea. He served in the liberation forces of Santa Tomos POW camp and in the occupation forces of Japan. He worked for Pioneer Natural Gas Co./Westar/Cabot Corp. for 39 years before retiring in 1985. John was a past master of Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge 841 and a past patron of Lubbock 76 OES. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janett Frentress of Odessa and Judy Tartt of Midland; a son, John Thomas Frentress of Lubbock; a brother, Verdie Lee Frentress of Denver; two sisters, Mildred Henderson and Joyce Tyson, both of Oklahoma City; five granddaughters, Christine Haskell, Angela Metcalf, Erica Frentress, Staci Frentress and Candi Moates; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Haskell. The family suggests memorials be to Raintree Christian Church or Scottish Rite Learning Center of Lubbock. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
