Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Mescalero Baptist Church with Kevin Oakley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Todd was born on a farm near Bushland on Dec. 4, 1932, to Mary Eleanor Brice Williams and Clay Gecovey Williams. She and her family moved to the Spurlock community in Sherman County in 1938. She attended Spurlock schools in grades one, three and four. In 1942, schools in Sherman County consolidated and she attended Stratford schools and graduated in 1950. She married Roy Harvey "Bud" Coffman on Nov. 4, 1950. They moved to Highmore, S.D., in 1951 and then moved back to Stratford in 1954. She moved to Amarillo in 1972 and was employed by Kmart and then worked at Pantex until her retirement in 1996. She married Charles Todd on May 16, 1980. She was a 4-H Gold Star Girl, a member of Retired Pantexans and Mescalero Baptist Church. She participated in singing groups from First Free Will Baptist, Bethel Assembly Church, Grace Fellowship, Tradewind Assembly of God Church and HOOTS (Harmonica Organization of Texas). She was preceded in death by her first husband; her second husband on July 21, 1999; a brother, Clay Gecovey "Sonny" Williams; and a sister, Cynthia Miley. Survivors include her best friend and companion, Ernie Collins; two daughters, Sallie Deon Coffman of Amarillo and Karen Marie Lake and husband, Nathan, of Texas City; a son, William Hardy Coffman and wife, Keva, of Canyon; a sister, Christine Claughton and husband, J.C., of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Lois "Teen" Cooper; seven grandchildren, Brandon Roberts and wife, Krisy, and Erin Nemoede and husband, Jason, all of Amarillo, and Hubbal Coffman, Gecovey Coffman, Hunter Coffman, Keevan Coffman and Thea Coffman, all of Canyon; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Nemoede, Cutter Roberts and Jordan Morris; three stepdaughters, Barbara Jean Stark, Karen Lee Smith and Sharon Rae Carter; and a stepson, Eddie Wayne Todd. Mrs. Baker was born in Amarillo. She married David Baker in the original chapel of First Baptist Church on Jan. 1, 1970. She received a business management degree from Wayland Baptist University. She was employed as an office manager for Drs. Kennedy and Stroud until her illness prevented her from working. She was a loving wife, sister and mother. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by three wives, Modell, who he married in 1937 and died in 1974, Sylvia, who he married in 1974 and died in 1988, and Lee, who he married in 1988 and died in 2003. She served in the Army WACs during World War II. She met her future husband, Frank Oppelt, while she was in the Army and he was in the Navy. Mr. Oppelt retired from the Navy after 22 years of service. They were married in San Bernardino, Calif., on Dec. 28, 1946. Mrs. Oppelt was a homemaker and a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She loved to read, and watch movies and sports. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Manning was born June 12, 1931, in Henrietta, Okla. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in Topeka, Kan. He was a 40-year Mason and belonged to Claude Lodge No. 719. He was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Korean conflict and in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart with three Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon. He retired from the service in 1969. He married Barbara Lumpkin-Rodgers on Aug. 17, 1973, in Clovis, N.M. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 18, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Mary Antoinette Smith BURLINGTON, Iowa - Mary Antoinette Smith, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick J. Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Burlington. She married Orval C. Smith on Feb. 28, 1948, in Burlington. Survivors include six sons, Donald Smith and Daniel Smith, both of Burlington, David Smith of Mount Pleasant, Duane Smith of Sperry, Doug Smith of Mediapolis and Dennis Smith of Carman, Ill.; four daughters, Donna Ballard, Dionne Burns and Deb Martin, of Amarillo, Texas, and Deana Newby of Denmark; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Kibling of Charlotte, N.C.; and two sisters, Loretta Mellinger of Washington and Virginia Overburg of West Point.
