Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Shamrock Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Ladd was born June 27, 1925, in Kelton. He married Margaret Helen Flowers on March 22, 1947, in Wheeler. Survivors include two sons, David Wayne Ladd of Canyon and Freddie Joe Ladd of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a daughter, Connie Jean Stephenson of Fort Worth; a brother, Glenn Ladd of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Ken Keller of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Mrs. Marnell was born March 12, 1915, in Rhineland. She married Ike Marnell on Jan. 18, 1954, in Hereford. Survivors include a son, Gerald Marnell of Hereford; two brothers, Bud Stengel of Hereford and Bill Stengel of Canyon; a sister, Clara Reinart of Hereford; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Fines Marchman, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Stephenson was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Borger. He married Billie Jo Willoughby on Aug. 30, 1952, in Denver. He had been a resident of Skellytown since 1959. He retired from Pantex as a supervisor after 35 years of service. He was a member of Skellytown Lions Club and First Baptist Church of Skellytown. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 6, 2003; two sons, David Stephenson and Randy Stephenson; his parents, George Franklin and Julia Augusta Stephenson; three sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Lynda Truelove of The Colony; a son, Danny Stephenson of Florence, Colo.; a sister, Frances Richardson of Amarillo; a brother, J.E. Stephenson of New Hall, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in North Fairview Cemetery with Tom Anderson, minister of Memphis Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Coleman was born Oct. 21, 1950, to Frank and Barabra Wilson Coleman in Groom. He started school in Pecos and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1969. Jimmy loved athletics, playing basketball and football from the six grade on at Dimmitt. He played little league and pony league, making all-stars every year. He started farming with his dad after attending West Texas State University. He helped with all the family farming wherever the family lived, but he loved to cowboy most of all. Jimmy will always be remembered as friendly and having a smile on his face. He loved his many good friends and always enjoyed visiting. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Tommy Frank Coleman and wife, Karen, of Wellington and Jody Coleman of Cleburne; three nieces, Taylor Coleman, Sarah Coleman and Jamie Strickland; and a nephew, Rusty Strickland and wife, Allison. Hughes St. Mrs. Bassett was born in Paris and was an Amarillo resident for 59 years. She was a former employee of the Amarillo and Herring hotels. She worked for United Pharmacy in Yukon. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in New Covenant Methodist Church in Edmond, Okla., with the Rev. Adrian Cole officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home of Enid, Okla. Mrs. Fowlkes was born to Gerald H. and Betty (Herring) Orr on Dec. 8, 1938, in Fort Collins, Colo. "Judee" Graduated from high school in Powell, Wyo., and then later attended University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. She married Dale Fowlkes on Oct. 19, 1956, in Denver. They made their home in Amarillo, where she worked for Texas Highway Department. In 1972, they moved to Oklahoma and she became the data security manager for Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She was active with Edmond Elks Ladies Klub, Camp 124 activities of Sons of the Confederate Veterans in Tyler and Chapter 261 of the Military Order of Stars and Bars in Tyler. An avid Civil War buff, she belonged to Museum of the Confederacy, Blue and Gray Education Society, Civil War Preservation Trust and Friends of the Carter House Museum. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cynthia G. Jones of Edmond and Dr. Alicia J. Vanhooser of Enid; five grandchildren; a brother, Gary Orr of Yuma, Ariz.; and two sisters, Roberta Skovgard of Canadian Lakes, Mich., and Terri Christensen of Casper, Wyo. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 20, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gordon Wood BROWNWOOD - Gordon Wood, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Abilene. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mims Auditorium on the campus of Howard Payne University with the Rev. Joan Gaines officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to the memorial service. Arrangements are by Davis- Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood. Mr. Wood was born May 25, 1914, in Abilene to Avery and Katherine Wood. He attended and graduated from Wylie schools outside of Abilene. He later graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene with his bachelor's and master's degrees in education. He served his country in the Navy in World War II. He married Katherine Boyd in January 1944 in San Diego while in the Navy. He was a loving husband and father. Gordon's coaching career included stints in Spur, Rule, Roscoe, Seminole, Winters, Stamford, Victoria, and ultimately Brownwood where he served 26 years as athletic director. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pat Wood of San Antonio; a son, Jim Wood and wife, Jan, of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Ty and Erin, both of Amarillo; a brother, Troy Wood of Abilene; a number of nieces and nephews; and a huge extended family of former players and coaching colleagues across the nation. Lacy, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Graham's Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Lacy was born in Delta County, Texas, in 1913. He was a farmer, a taxi driver, a mechanic, an aircraft builder, a gold miner, owner of a trucking firm, and lastly, owner and operator of BD Lacy and Sons Drilling Co. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Marie; eight children, Joe, Julie, Michael, Steve, Greg, Richard, Kathy and Doug; and siblings, Edrie, Lanny and Wilma.
