Mrs. Cooper was a member of McLean Church of Christ. She was a very talented woman who loved to golf and adored children and animals. Mallory Jr. on July 9, 1943, in Quanah, she moved to Dumas in 1945. In 1950 she moved to Sunray where she resided and raised her family until moving back to Dumas in 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of 6th and Meredith Church of Christ. He then was associated with the Atomic Energy Commission and retired May 6, 1978. William married Ellen Kisselburg on Aug. 30, 1947, in Plainview, and they were married 56 years. He was in the Army and worked as an electrician. He was active with Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always there for his family. He enjoyed life and his work. We will miss him dearly and will always remember his laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents Monroe Alvin Fields and Mettie Opal Russell and his brother Monroe Alvin Fields, all of Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerald, pastor of San Jacinto United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Dell was born Aug. 18, 1912 in Stephenville to J. Wirt Rogers and Tina Wells. They moved to Amarillo when she was in the first grade. She graduated from high school in Memphis. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and a master's degree in education from West Texas State University. One summer while she was a student at Tech, she and some other students took a train to New York City to attend Columbia University. She took art classes and in later life became very proficient at oil painting. She loved teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married W.F. Fletcher in 1936 and was widowed in 1947. She married Alvin Dell in 1949 and was widowed again in 1979. She taught arithmetic in Amarillo elementary schools for 4 years, then became the secretary/receptionist for Southwestern Life Insurance Co. until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with the Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary for 10 years. She served as president and also received the honor of being Woman of the Year. She served as president of the American Business Women's Association and received Woman of the Year from the Amarillo charter chapter. She served as secretary for the Life Underwriter's Association, treasurer of the Amarillo College Faculty Wives Association and was State Executive Committee Woman in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary with regular participation in the auxiliary's work at the Veterans Hospital. She struck a blow for women's rights when she began serving as secretary of the Amarillo Knife and Fork Club, which sponsored monthly dinner meetings featuring nationally known speakers. Only men were allowed to join the club at that time, so she demanded that women be allowed to join before she would continue serving as secretary. The deed was done and Knife and Fork Club became coed. It also became the second largest club in the nation. Besides oil painting, she spent time knitting, flower gardening, rock collecting, studying Texas wildflowers and handwriting analysis. Her best friend was always a puppy to love and take care of. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Richardson and husband, Wayne, of Vega; three grandsons, Chick Slutz of Middleton, Idaho, Joe Slutz of Amarillo and James Slutz of San Jon, N.M.; a granddaugher, Sue Slutz of Lubbock; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild on the way. He enjoyed dancing at the Senior Citizen Center and belonged to the singing group called the Melody Makers. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. He moved to Amarillo in 1952. He worked as an auto salesman for 40 years and served in the ministry for 27 years. He married Daphine Harrison on April 26, 1945, at Poteau. He was preceded in death by a brother James Harold Gullick in 2003. Survivors include her husband of Lubbock; seven daughters, Juanita Davila of Scroggins, Beatrice Ramirez, Hizaura Gardenes, Elizabeth Lozano and Rosa DeAnda, all of Amarillo, and Herlinda Marmolejo and Heloiza Lozano of Lubbock; two sons, Jose Luis Lozano and Servando Lozano and wife, Nancy, all of Shallowater; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
