Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Randy Srader officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Lockhart was born Oct. 18, 1931, in Wellington and attended school in Samnorwood and Wellington. He joined the service in 1952, serving in Korea, and earned several medals and honors in the service of his country. He moved to Amarillo in 1955. He was employed by Santa Fe Freight and Yellow Freight companies and retired from both. He married Bernita Mae in April 1980. He and his wife retired, sold their home and moved to Saint's Roost Addition in Donley County. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glen Storm; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Fern Stout of Amarillo; four sons, James Lockhart, Jerry Lockhart and Donald Strom, all of Amarillo, and Charles Strom of Gretna, Neb.; a brother, Travis Lockhart of Wellington; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 22, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joseph Mitchell Joseph Mitchell, 76, of Amarillo died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Billy Jones, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will be in Jericho Cemetery in Jericho. Mr. Mitchell was raised in Panhandle. He served in the Army at the end of World War II. He married Lee Ann Brown in 1950 in Amarillo. They were happily married for 53 years. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986 after 36 years of service. He was an avid knife and gun collector and a member of Pioneer Gun Collectors. He was a dedicated sportsman who loved to fish and hunt. He also was a Master Mason. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry, in 2001. He is survived by his wife; a son, Danny Mitchell and wife, Molly, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Jennifer York of Little Elm; six brothers, Jim Mitchell, Donald Gregory, Doug Galbraith, John Galbraith and Harold Galbraith, all of California, and Herb Mitchell of Ohio; and three sisters, Barbara Lindman of Florida, Cordy Short of California and Paula Wilson of Amarillo. She graduated as valedictorian from Vernon Northside High School in 1945. She married Glen Taylor on May 18, 1946, in Crowell. They lived in Crowell from 1946 until they moved to Wellington in 1960. She was a teacher's aide at Wellington Junior High for 17 years. She retired in 1993. She was a member of Retired Teachers and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ross Allen Taylor and Roger Dale Taylor. Mr. Martin was born Jan. 11, 1914, in Stamford to Victor and Hattie Martin. He married Betty Jo Simpson on June 10, 1939, in Matador, and they lived in Hereford since 1946. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Stamford High School and received his bachelor of science degree from East Texas State University in Denton. He also received a master's degree from West Texas A&M University in Canyon. He was a coach, high school principal, a junior high principal and a counselor. He worked for the Hereford Independent School District for 29 years. He also sold crop hail insurance for many years. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. She was a 1930 graduate of Friona High School and was valedictorian of her class. She married Claude Blackburn on Dec. 10, 1932, in Clovis, N.M. She was a homemaker and a mother. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville by Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home. Mrs. Tam was born Raquel Yvette Rodriguez on Oct. 6, 1966, in Hereford. She was raised in Amarillo, graduating from Caprock High School in 1985. She moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in math in 1990. On June 27, 1998, she married the man she loved, Collin Edward Tam of San Francisco, in the city she loved, Austin. She was an Austin Motorola employee for more than 12 years and a member of Unity Church of the Hills. She was preceded in death by her beloved infant daughter, Carisa Renée Tam. She had lived in Monahans for 10 years and was a member of Monahans Christian Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 22, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marshall Wayne Wilson Sr. SANTEE, CALIF. - Marshall Wayne Wilson Sr., 67, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003. Services will be at noon Friday in Foothills Christian Fellowship with his sons, the Rev. Wayne Wilson and Dan Wilson, officiating. Arrangements are by Featheringill Mortuary in San Diego. Mr. Wilson was born Aug. 21, 1937, to Marshall and Mary Ruth Wilson in Borger, Texas. He attended Borger Senior High School until entering the Navy on Sept. 14, 1954. While in the Navy, he earned a Ph.D. in biblical counseling and organizational development. He received two Navy Achievement Awards for development of the human relations program used throughout the Navy. He retired from active duty Sept. 14, 1973, as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He served as Director of Organization Development and Training for Foodmaker in San Diego, Internorth in Omaha, Neb., and El Paso Products Co. in Odessa and Houston. He served as vice president and general manager of Maric College. He conducted seminars and spoke at universities throughout the United States. He also retired from CalTrans on Aug. 21, 2002. Dr. Wilson was an ordained Baptist minister and pastor of churches in the San Diego area. In the 1970s he served on the board of Christian Heritage College. In the 1980s he directed a counseling ministry in Houston. He served as Director of Operation Rescue in San Diego in 1990. He was a member of the Santee School Board from 1990 to 1994. His proudest accomplishment was his family. He will be remembered by his ready smile, keen intellect, generosity, love for family and devotion to Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold Lloyd Wilson and Willie Dee Wilson; and a daughter, Rebecca Loree Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Sondra; five sons, Marshall Wayne Wilson and wife, Arlene, Martin Duane Wilson and wife, Paula, Daniel Ray Wilson and wife, Leslie, Timothy Dee Wilson and wife, Colette, and David Kent Wilson and wife, Kimberly; a daughter, Cheryl Michele Jones and husband, Michael; a sister, Betty Jo Warren of Houston; a brother, Milton Wilson of Taylorville, N.C.; 25 grandchildren; and countless lives that he has touched.
