Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clark Williams and the Rev. Donna Johnston officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dalhart Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart with Dr. Richard Bales, Big Spring district supervisor, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Putnam was born Sept. 9, 1911, in Range, Okla., to Harley and Kittie Rose Grimm. She married Thomas Roach Putnam on Aug. 11, 1928 in Guymon. She was a nurse's aide for 15 years at Coon Memorial Hospital in Dalhart. She had been a resident of Canyon since 1992. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in Crusaders Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; and three sisters, Marie Weatherford, Elsie Feese and Katheryn Lee Anderson. Survivors include a daughter, Noreen Bales of Big Spring; two sons, Thomas Putnam of El Paso, and Julian Putnam of Amarillo; a sister, Iris Wilkinson of Boise City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Amarillo with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Weise was born Feb. 13, 1981 in Amarillo to Gary and Brenda Dietz Barrett. She was a lifetime resident of Canyon and graduated from Canyon High School in 1999. She married Geoffery Weise in Amarillo in 2002. She graduated from West Texas A&M University with a BSN in nursing in 2003, and was employed at Northwest Texas Hospital in the emergency room. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jaci Barrett in 1984. Survivors include her husband; her parents; two sisters, Jenny Barrett and Joli Barrett, both of Canyon; her grandparents, Jimmy and Caroline Dietz and Joyce Patching, all of Happy; her mother- and father-in-law, Glen and Joell Weise of Danbury; her brother- and sister-in-law, Chris and Shonda Weise of Canyon; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Weise of Danbury; and two special nephews, Jack and Owen Weise of Canyon. Williams, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with Jim West, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Stinnett Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Williams was a carpenter. He was a church board member and former city commissioner. Survivors include his wife, Annabeth; a son, Mike Williams of Trinidad, Colo.; a daughter, Pam Smith of Borger; and four grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in North Fariview Cemetery with the Rev. Al Mixon, pastor of Dodson Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Ford was born Aug. 10, 1949 to Raymond and Virginia Williams Ford in Wellington. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1967 and received his degree in mechanical engineering from Universtiy of Texas at Arlington. Survivors include two daughters, Mauri Hayden Ford of College Station and Kelsey Anne Ford of Wellington; his mother; a sister, Ramona Hightower of Dodson; and a brother, Dan Ford of Overland Park, Kan. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 23, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ernest "Dutch" Pierce DUMAS -- Ernest "Dutch" Pierce, 92, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 in McKinney. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Pierce was born June 6, 1911, in Cross Plains. He was a Dumas resident since August 1943, before moving to McKinney in March 2002. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Geneva Patterson on Nov. 5, 1938, in Abilene. He was employed by Diamond Shamrock for nine years. He retired in 1976 from Potash Co. of America in Dumas. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lloyd Pierce of Cocoa, Fla. and Herman Pierce and his wife, Grace, of Las Vegas; three daughters, Lynda Peugh of Dallas, Etta Jean Witcofsky and husband, John, of Nesquehoning, Pa., and Oma Conn and husband, George, of Cedar Hill; nine grandchildren, Norman and Tiffany Lyles, Sylvia and Jerry Hall, Mendy Peugh, Heather Peugh, Jennifer Drake, Alesha and Kelly Crowell, Amy Conn, Stephanie and Jason Taylor, and Robin and Nick Crockett; five great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Armstrong married Juanita Hough on Jan. 7, 1939, in Paducah. He owned and operated Childress Lumber Co. for many years. Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Kathryn Hall of Dalhart. Mr. Tucker was in the Army and Air Corps during World War II. He was an electrician for Canadian River Municipal Water Authority. Survivors include his wife, Billie; a son, Buddy Tucker of Denison; two daughters, Tammy Farmer of Borger, and Alice Hillerby of Arlington; a brother, Charles Tucker of Amarillo; two sisters, Wilma Jean Fisk and Mary Nell Sullivan, both of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Sturgess was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Muleshoe. He was raised in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from West Texas State University. He married Kay Campbell in December 1982 in Tulia. He was a farmer and owner/operator of Red Barn Cattle Co. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 15, 2003. Survivors included a daughter, Cheryl Sturgess of Tulia; a son, Brian Sturgess of Tulia; a brother, Timmy Sturgess and wife, Toni, of Lubbock; and a sister- in-law, Valerie Sturgess of Tulia. Burial and Masonic services will be in Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Hollis married Lula Belle Wyatt on Nov. 30, 1940, in Texhoma. He was a farmer and rancher and was active throughout the community. Survivors include a son, Mike Hollis of Texhoma; a brother, Marvin Glenn of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
