Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. John Duncan, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Tubb was born Feb. 1, 1923, to Charles and Laura Dorsey Tubb. Dorsey was born of a true pioneer family and had the same roaming spirit. His dream of seeing more of the world than the South Pacific was very deep. He served with the 863rd Engineers Avaition Battalion of the Army. Dorsey loved ranching and had purchased a small herd of cattle with money sent home while he was overseas during World War II. When he returned from the war, he began ranching and farming with his father. He was married to Virginia Kelley on Jan. 27, 1951. She also shared the love of the land and joined Dorsey in farming and ranching. They made a team with Dorsey ranching and Gena farming. Together they dreamed of traveling and in 1974, made the first trip out of the United States to Australia. For the next 25 years they traveled many, many countries and all but five of the United States. They both retired from ranching in 1978 and from farming in 1981. Dorsey and Gena continued traveling until July 1998, when traveling became too much for health reasons. Dorsey resided at Abraham Memorial Home from November 2002 until his death. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Tubb and wife, Cindy Bailey, of Amarillo; a daughter, Teresa Abbott and husband, Jay, of Katy; and two grandchildren, Robert Reid Abbott and Julie Ann Abbott, both of Katy. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 26, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harry Charles "Charlie" McLaurin Jr. PLAINVIEW - Harry Charles "Charlie" McLaurin Jr., 49, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery with Jimmy Fikes of Plainview officiating. Arrangements are by Wood- Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. McLaurin was born May 23, 1954, in Plainview. He married Sammi Louene Drew in 1977. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bess Havens of Lubbock; a sister, Connie Davis of Plainview; and two grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bulin officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Foster was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Montague County the daughter of David and Sarah Parkhill. She married Jodie Foster in 1926 at Ford City. Mrs. Foster had lived in Hereford since 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of the Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Jodie Wayne Foster of Ponca City, Okla., and Troy Foster of Hereford; three daughters, Christene Petree, Alilene Alexander and Jane Duggan, all of Hereford; a brother, Odell Parkhill of Thatcher, Ariz.; a sister, Muggie Gallager of Corpus Christi; 15 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Harrol Waterbury and the Rev. Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born in Newton County, Mo., on Jan. 4, 1919. She had lived in the area since 1946, moving from Granby, Mo. She married Wick Brown on Sept. 16, 1938, in Granby. She was a clerk and was a member of Full Gospel Church of Perryton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, and her parents, Thomas and Pochahontas (Gold) Johnson. Survivors include a son, Ron Brown of Perryton; a daughter, Kay Stamps of Perryton; two brothers, Billy Johnson of Perryton and LaVaughn Johnson of Carl Junction, Mo.; two sisters, Joyce Chapman and Rose Cole, both of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Walter Reed, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mitts was born Dec. 14, 1913, in Hutchinson County. She was a Stratford resident since 1952, moving from Spearman. She was a homemaker. She married M.L. Mitts on Oct. 9, 1933, in Spearman. She was a member of First Christian Church in Stratford. She was a member of Stratford Ladies Golf Association, Sherman County Older Texans and was a Sherman County Museum volunteer. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988. Survivors include three daughters, Yvonne Prichard and husband, Jim, of Greeley, Colo., and LeRayne Donelson and husband, B.A., and Linda Quinn, all of Stratford; a son, Melvin Mitts and wife, Martha, of Stratford; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Johnson, 85, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with the Rev. Robert Field, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. (MST) Saturday in Baca County Park in Springfield, Colo. Mr. Johnson moved to Amarillo in 1952 from Springfield. He retired from Colorado Interstate Gas after 31 years as a dispatcher. He was a life member of NRA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norene Johnson in 1990. Survivors include three daughters, Jettith Codene Johnson and Judy Johnson, both of Amarillo, and Novita Morton of Fulton, Mo.; a granddaughter, Zelpha Jeter of Amarillo; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Sanford, serving in the Army, Steven Sanford of Edmond, Okla., and Amanda Morton and Michael Morton, both of Fulton, Mo.; two sisters, Mozell Mickey of Lamar, Colo., and Yvonda Miller of Tyler; and a brother, Louie Johnson of Pueblo, Colo. He served in the Air Corps during World War II in Alaska. He moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Borger. He married Vera Sanford on June 12, 1979, in Amarillo. He retired from Sears as a repairman. He was a deacon at San Jacinto Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; six children; two stepchildren; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters. Burial will be in Willard Cemetery by Myatt Seeger Funeral Home. Mrs. Waugh was born July 9, 1917, on the family farm north of Buffalo. She married George T. Waugh on Aug. 6, 1940, in Buffalo. Survivors include six sons, Gorey Waugh of Guymon, Glen Waugh, Bryce Waugh, Leland Waugh and Dale Waugh, all of Buffalo, and Leroy Waugh of Laverne; six daughters, Lavena Chastine of Guymon, Estella Beesley of Hutchinson, Kan., Elva Bentley of Rosston, Eva Lile of Amarillo, Texas, Cora Carlile of Hennessey and Glenda Cochran of Goodland, Kan.; 29 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 26, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Art lover, philanthropist dies on 85th birthday The Associated Press HOUSTON - Caroline Wiess Law, a longtime art collector and philanthropist, died in her sleep on her 85th birthday. "She was a major collector and one of the most important trustees in the history of the museum," said Peter C. Marzio, director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Law, who died Wednesday, was the second of three daughters born to Harry and Olga Wiess. Her father co-founded Humble Oil Co., which eventually became Irving-based Exxon Mobil.
