Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Mark Rector, pastor of Church Alive, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Harris was born in Como in 1932. He moved to the Panhandle area in 1950 and married Vicky Wood in 1978. He was employed by the Big Texan Steak Ranch for more than 32 years as the head musician and fiddler. He enjoyed entertaining people from all over the world and pulling the Big Texan bull to many area parades and functions. His trademark was his big smile and his fiddle. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Martha Cox and husband, Curtis, and Linda Farrow-Applegate, all of Amarillo, and Eva Damiano and husband, David, of Anson; two sons, Gary Harris and wife, Missy, and Johnny Harris and wife, Keziah, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Fred Harris and Donald Harris, both of Amarillo, and Johnny Harris and wife, Betty, of Garland; three sisters, Ann Harlan and husband, Tommy, of Amarillo, Ruby Ivy and husband, Danny, of Mansfield and Dorothy Puttman of Pickens, S.C.; numerous dear nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 14, 2004 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Agnes Angela Homer Agnes Angela Homer, 83, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. Kevin Hand and the Rev. John Valdez officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Groom by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Homer was born Feb. 5, 1920, to Rosa and Goswin Koetting in St. Thomas, Mo. The family moved to Groom in the late 1920s. She graduated from Groom High School in 1937. She married Alfred Anton Homer on Nov. 28, 1939. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Groom and Christian Mothers Altar Society. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In 1970, she went to nursing school, earning a licensed vocational nurse degree. She worked at Groom Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1977. She loved nursing as well as crocheting and quilting. She made more than 800 lap cover quilts that were donated to area nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Bernard Koetting; and two sisters, Sophia Leven and Katie Kempf. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Rose Mary Eakin and husband, Jim, of Pampa, Ruth Helen Williams and husband, Don, of Amarillo and Rita Agnes Lister and husband, Mike, of Cedar Hill; four sons, James Alfred Homer and wife, Jeannie, of Clarendon, John Edward Homer and wife, Doris, and Joseph Louis Homer and wife, Barbara, all of Groom, and Jerome Donald Homer of Portland, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great- grandchild; and hundreds of nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family members. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Mott was born in Spearman and lived most of his life in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961 and attended Amarillo College. He worked in management for Furr's Foods Grocery for 18 years and in management at Mr. Burger for 15 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Wayne Mott, in 1976 and his ex- wife, Georgene Mott in 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Michele Rupe and Melinda Chance, both of Amarillo; a son, Robert Mott of Amarillo; two sisters, Margaret Russell of Amarillo and Martha Lou Cooper of Fort Smith, Ark.; a brother, James D. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Kirkendoll. Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn "Kathy" Kirkendoll of Hereford; and two sons, William Patrick "Pat" Kirkendoll of Wright, Wyo., and Donald Flatt of Amarillo. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mrs. Routh lived most of her life in Amarillo. She retired from Northwest Texas Hospital as a registered associate in science. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Routh, on Aug. 23, 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Chandra Routh of Amarillo; a son, Jeff Routh of Amarillo; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Routh and Marrisa Routh, both of Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the East Cooper Cemetery, East Cooper, Okla. Mrs. Coleman was born July 28, 1932, in Shattuck, Okla. A graduate of West Texas State University, she was an elementary school teacher at Sanborn Elementary and Amarillo Adventist Academy. Survivors include a son, Craig Coleman and wife, LaJuana, of Placitas, N.M.; a brother, John Baker and wife, Vicki, of Norman, Okla.; and numerous other family and friends who will miss her. The family will be at 6103 Palmetto St. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 14, 2004 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Roy Jack Holmes Roy Jack Holmes, 74, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock with Joe G. Jernigan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Shamrock. Local arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Holmes was born and raised in Sanford and was a 1950 graduate of Texas Tech University. Mr. Holmes was a veteran of the Army in the Korean conflict and served 35 years in the Army Reserves. He retired from the Army as a colonel. He received the Bronze Star. He married Joyce Taylor in 1947 in Borger. She passed away in 1977. He married Vickie Parrish in 1979 and enjoyed a full life that included traveling across the country and spending time with their friends and family. He retired in 1994 from Southwestern Public Service Co. in Lubbock, where he was division manager. A 45-year employee with SPS, Mr. Holmes served the company in Amarillo before moving to Lubbock in 1978. Mr. Holmes was dedicated to his employees, the satisfaction of his customers and was an extremely active leader in the community. Mr. Holmes successfully chaired the Lubbock United Way Campaign in 1983, was chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, a strong advocate for economic development in the city and active in a variety of other civic committees. Mr. Holmes effectively balanced this activity with his proven success at running SPS Lubbock Division. The cornerstone of his professional career centered around an extraordinary and award-winning safety and customer service performance of the division. Beyond this, Mr. Holmes was very dedicated to his church in Lubbock, Lubbockview Christian Church, and Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock. He had fought a courageous battle against the side effects of Inclusion Body Myositis, life-threatening injuries suffered in a car accident in 1997 and cancer. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tami Holmes of Amarillo; a son, Gregg Holmes and wife, Lisa, of Arizona; two grandchildren, Jordan Holmes and Jackson Holmes, both of Arizona; a sister, Bonita "Butch" Dalton and husband, R.C., of Austin; three sisters-in-law, Carol Sloss and husband, Sterling, and Ann Brown and husband, J.D., all of Shamrock, and Polly Perry and husband, John, of California; and his special friends, Charlie and Caytie Cox of Amarillo. She was a homemaker. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Scarborough was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Haskell County. He was a Moore County resident for 54 years. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas. He married Rosa Lee Chadwick on June 7, 1949, in Wheeler. He retired as a plumber from American Zinc in 1971. He was a shop foreman for Bennett Tire from 1971 to 1992. He served in the Army. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994; and a brother, V.L. "Leo" Scarborough in 1987. Survivors include a son, Billy Scarborough and wife, Tonya, of Dumas; two daughters, Linda S. Kelley and husband, Steve, of Mooreland, Okla., and Patsy Long and husband, Johnny Ray, of Dumas; a brother, R.D. Urbanczyk, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, in Pampa. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor Kevin Hand, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Urbanczyk was born March 29, 1917, in White Deer, where he had been a lifelong resident. He married Collene Heying on Aug. 19, 1950. He was a longtime farmer and rancher in Carson County and owned a boat and marine store in White Deer for several years. His brother, Henry, and he were co-owners of Grand Petroleum in Pampa for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant, and serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 12, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Jaqueta Urbanczyk of Amarillo; a son, Rocky Urbanczyk and wife, Brenda, of Plano; two brothers, Henry Urbanczyk of Groom and Will Urbanczyk of White Deer; and a grandson, Layne Urbanczyk of Plano. Mr. Brewer was born May 20, 1922, in Liberal, Kan. He served in the Army during World War II. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in McKinney with Dr. Jeff Warren officiating. Burial was in Ridgeview Memorial Park by Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Mrs. Swanner was born July 2, 1906, in Farmersville to the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Rowe Gotcher. She married Franklin Earl Swanner on Oct. 14, 1931, in McKinney. Mrs. Swanner graduated from McKinney High School. She also graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor University in 1927. Mrs. Swanner taught public school in Plainview, Kress and Lockney. She taught at Wayland Baptist University, where she was chairman of the science department. Mrs. Swanner was active at the Heard Museum in McKinney. She was a member of Wednesday Book Club and En Avant Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Patterson and husband, Bill, of Star Harbor, Dr. Rebekah Noel and husband, Jim, of San Antonio and Brenda Kate Brown of Amarillo; her grandchildren, Will Patterson, Jeff Patterson, Matt Patterson, Jay McGahey, Andrew McGahey, Cynthia McGahey Trowell, Aimee Brown and Les Brown; 16 great-grandchildren; a nephew, James Melvin "Jim" Gotcher; and many other loving relatives and friends.
