McBrayer DUMAS - J.C. McBrayer, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. McBrayer was born March 21, 1922, in McGregor. He was a Dumas resident since 1941. He married Norene Mixon on Sept. 9, 1941, in Memphis. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas. He was a member of Dumas Noon Lions Club. He was a natural gas specialist for 37 years at Diamond Shamrock. He served in the Air Force. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary McBrayer of Denton and Gayle McBrayer of Miami, N.M.; a daughter, Judy Moore of North Richland Hills; a sister, Toni Samaniego of Mansfield; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. Mrs. Lane was a home healthcare worker at Borger Healthcare Center. She was a native of Clarendon and was a Borger resident for 17 years. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 15, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lola Eloise Wade Walker DUMAS - Lola Eloise Wade Walker, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Darrell Wait officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Walker was born March 1, 1917, in Stephenville to John Wade and Eva Metsgar Wade Oldaker. Mrs. Walker married William Claude Walker in Tucumcari, N.M. Mrs. Walker was affectionately known to her family and all her friends as "Nannie." She had been a Moore County resident for 60 years. Mrs. Walker and her mother owned and operated the fabric store known as The Trading Post. After that business was sold, she went back to work at the children's store known as The Toggery. Following the sale of that business, she went back to the thing she liked most, selling fabric at TG&Y. When TG&Y was sold, she went to work at Wal-Mart selling fabric. Wal-Mart continued to be her place of employment until her death. She worked there about 20 years. The last few years her position was a greeter for Wal- Mart. To the small children who came through the doors she was known as the "sticker lady." Mrs. Walker was a longtime member of Hunt United Memorial Methodist Church. Prior to that she was a member of First United Methodist, where she taught the Sunday school classes for 3- and 4-year-olds. She received her 50-year Eastern Star pin several years ago. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 653 of Dumas. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; husband; and stepfather, Lee Oldaker. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonnie Mayer and husband, Charles "Chuck"; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Mike and Marsha Campbell of Dumas, their children, Bryan and Carrah Sparks of Amarillo and their children, Zane and Zoey; Melanie and Kenny Poole of Amarillo and their children, Ashley, Kaleb and Dakota; Brent and Kari Campbell of Dumas and their children, Eric and Shaynie; and Pam and Bryan Terry of Amarillo and their children, Willie and Bobby; and a host of friends along with her Wal- Mart family. He married Eunice Goffinett on Nov. 23, 1939, in Memphis. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dwayne Floyd and Dwight Floyd, both of Memphis; two daughters, Carolyn Davis of Memphis and Betty Butcher of Canadian; a sister, Linnie Martin of Memphis; 14 grandchildren; and 34 great- grandchildren. "Jiggs" Cooke, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Cooke retired from the City of Pampa in 1983 after more than 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Izlon "Cookie"; a daughter, Paulette Hinkle Kirksey of Pampa; a son, Harold L. Cooke of Sugarland; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with Dick Brooks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery in Darrouzett by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Altmiller was born in Helena, Okla., to Chet and Letha Henness Roberts and graduated from Lavern High School in 1945. She married Alfred Altmiller on Jan. 4, 1948. Their early years of marriage was spent farming, where Beth worked faithfully alongside her husband, even driving loaded grain trucks during harvest. Beth also worked as a secretary for Booker High School in Booker. The couple had made their home in Dalhart for the last 40 years. She was a full partner with her husband in multiple businesses, serving as the accounting officer until their retirement. She was a volunteer pink lady for Coon Memorial Home, and a deacon and session member of First Presbyterian Church, active in all church projects. Her family will remember her as a devoted mother and loving wife. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kenda Josselet of Perryton and Tricia Twombly and husband, Teddy, of Denton; and four grandchildren, Chris and Kari Josselet and Jacob and Caleb Twombly. Mrs. McWilliams was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Morgan Mill. She was a Dumas resident since 1953. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Street Church of Christ in Dumas. She married O.C. McWilliams on Nov. 26, 1937, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 24, 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Arleta Fisher and husband, John, of Amarillo and Beverlee Melban and husband, Charlie, of Dumas; four sons, Arlon McWilliams and wife, Jalane, and Wayne McWilliams, all of Dumas, Marlon McWilliams and wife, Cheryl, of Mayhill, N.M., and Malcom McWilliams of Cumby; a brother, Raymond Vandever of Baldwyn, Miss.; two sisters, Irma Farris of Montgomery and Donna Shannon of Victoria; 16 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 5, 1979; and her daughter, JoAnn Smith, in 1995.
