Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Friona United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Rockey was a Friona resident since 1930, moving from Quinlan, Okla. She was a member of Friona United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women. She was a member of Black Study Club. She married Richard V. "Dick" Rockey on Feb. 10, 1934, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 21, 1978; a son, Howard V. Rockey on March 12, 1969; and two brothers, Porter Elmore in 1954 and Bud Elmore in 1996. Survivors include two nieces, Dolores Elmore Spivey of Comanche and Candy Ferrell of Houston; and two nephews, Larry Elmore of Levelland and Tim Elmore of Kemp. The family suggests memorials be to Prairie Acres Nursing Home or Friona United Methodist Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 7, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doyle Ramsey WHEELER - Doyle Ramsey, 76, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wheeler Church of Christ with Dr. Shawn Johnson, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Ramsey was born June 5, 1927, to Robert Lee and Bernice Ramsey in Wheeler. He married Mildred Holcomb Shackelford on Feb. 15, 1962, in Shamrock. Doyle was a Wheeler County Deputy for 161/2 years. He later held the office of sheriff of Wheeler County from 1977 to 1984. He was elected justice of the peace in 1987 and remained in that position until his retired in 1998. Doyle was a member of the Church of Christ in Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 12, 1990; and a sister, Patsy Britting of Amarillo. Survivors include three stepsons, David Shackelford of Indio, Calif., John Shackelford of Buda and Tommy Shackelford of Krum; and a brother, Leon Ramsey of Brownwood. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Harry Williams, Doyle Anderson, elder, the Rev. Virgil Brown and the Rev. Ralph Hughes officiating. A second service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Jenkins-Garmon Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Henderson. Local arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Brown was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Laneyville. She married Roy Sanford Brown in Borger in 1961. Survivors include her husband; four sons, Sanford Brown Jr. of Killeen, Michael Brown of Lake Jackson, Kent Brown of Fritch and Randy Brown of Borger; four daughters, Pamela Damian and Tina Harrison, both of Lake Jackson, Karen Powell of Seattle and Angela Biski of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; five brothers, Leroy Horton of Arp, Henry Horton of Bay City, Frank Horton Jr. of Angleton, Larry Horton of Sweeny and Claudell Matkins of Greenville; six sisters, Novella Walker and Myra Davis, both of Tyler, Frances Wilson and Delores Morgan, both of Los Angeles, and Dorothy Anderson and Marlene Wyche, both of Sweeny; and 20 grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church, officiating. Mr. Percival was born June 10, 1942, in Clarendon and had been a resident of Clarendon most of his life. He served as a captain in the Marine Corps in Vietnam and was a recipient of an honor medal and a Purple Heart. He was an electrical engineer, having worked for Continental Can Co. and Pantex most of his life before retirement. He was an Episcopalian. Survivors include two daughters, Theresa P. Meier of Clarendon and Krista D. Percival of Lubbock; and a grandson, Christopher Meier of Clarendon. He married Sonja Anthony on July 18, 1958, in Aspermont. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randall Wynn of Wellington; a daughter, Toni Helton of Memphis; his mother, Dixie Wynn of Memphis; a brother, Terry Wynn of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Abernathy. He married LaVerna Mayrand Ballard on Aug. 14, 1945, in Bend, Ore. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis with the Rev. Douglas Brooks and the Rev. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery in Bovina, Texas, by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was born June 22, 1920, in Floydada, Texas. He married Dora Blalock in August 1940. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wayne Brown of Roswell and Gene Brown of Portales; a daughter, Lynda Hand of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Joe Brown of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Lofton of Carmichael, Calif., and Ysleta Kittrell of Farwell, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
