Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, senior pastor, and Bob Crass, of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, 5th Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Middleton was born in Gladewater. Her family then moved to Tyler. After a few years they moved to Amarillo where she could begin school with her "Auntie" who was a schoolteacher. She graduated from Amarillo High School and one year later on Nov. 28, 1952, she married the loved of her life. She and Jerry were married for 52 years. She was a homemaker and kept books for their family business. She loved to garden, read the sports page, spend time at their cabin in Eagle Nest and care for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing bridge for many years. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Teresa Griffin and husband, Gary, of Amarillo; a son, Miles Middleton and wife, Kayla, of Mansfield; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 9, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dwight Ford Galyon Dwight Ford Galyon, 79, of Amarillo died Friday, Feb. 7, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Loran Harper and Jerry Klein, ministers, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Galyon was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Denison, TX. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1943. He attained rank of staff sergeant, was a tail gunner on a B-24 and was shot down on Sept. 27, 1944, over Germany during World War II. He was held as a prisoner for 7 months. He was discharged in Sept. 1945 and married Margie Ann Tipton on Sept. 26, 1945. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. in Borger for 37 years, retiring in 1985. The couple moved to Amarillo in 1993. He was a member of Comanche Trail Church of Chirst. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diana Fern Cary and husband, Joby, of Amarillo; two sons, Dwight Keith Galyon and wife, Bobbie, of Amarillo and Phillip Linn Galyon and wife, Debbie, of Tualatin, Ore.; two sisters, Nita J. Mayo of Sheridan, Ark., and Melba J. Shipman of Coleman, Okla.; six grandchildren, Amy D. Garcia, Kimberly A. Reynolds, Jerrod H. Galyon, Crystal D. Chotkowski, Jennifer K. Galyon and W. Sage Galyon; nine great-grandchildren; eight nieces; and six nephews. Mrs. Hanson was born April 12, 1908, in North Dakota. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1980. Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Hanson Jr. of Dumas; a sister, Vivian Campbell of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Stratton was born in Swisher County. He had been a control specialist in electric motor repair. He had been president and CEO of G.E. Jones Electric Co. from 1976 to 1998. He was a member of the Southwestern Chapter and EASA president from 1972 to 1973. He was a former member of REACT. He was also a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. He married Norma Vivian Jones on Sept. 16, 1949, in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, George Stratton and wife, Linda, of Amarillo; two daughters, Mary Wands and husband, Sam, of Amarillo and Lori Sizemore and husband, Bobby, of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Genevia Dunn and husband, Eddy, of Amarillo; a brother, Tommy Stratton and wife, Cleta, of Tulia; 10 grandchildren, Christina Stratton, Kimberly Clifton, Shannon Meier, Melinda Wands, David Wands, Jonathan Wands, Keith Kincaid, Trey McCulloch, Dustin Sizemore and Tasha Sizemore; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Ramirez married Hermila Navarrete on Oct. 13, 1959. He had been a resident of Cactus for 26 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Manuel Ramirez Jr. of Dumas and Juan R. Ramirez of Cactus; two brothers, Teodoro Ramirez of Dumas and Ramon Ramirez of Chihuahua, Mexico; a sister, Luz Franco of Hobbs, N.M.; and seven grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in San Jon Cemetery with C.L. Bowe officiating. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Reed was born Aug. 19, 1951, in Tucumcari. He was an accomplished mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Belinda; three sons, Lenny D. Reed of San Jon, J. Corey Reed of McCord Air Force Base in Washington and R. Allen Reed of Clarksville, Tenn.; a grandson; three sisters, Ona Bailey of Tijeras, Ann Chacon of San Jon and Margaret Romero of California; two brothers Jessie "Shorty" Reed of San Jon and Robert Reed of North Carolina. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 9, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Ray Whittington IRVING - Ray Whittington, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, in Hereford. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in South MacArthur Church of Christ with Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Ada Memorial Park in Ada, Okla., by Brown's Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Whittington was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Francis, Okla. He married Phyllis Watson, his high school sweetheart, in 1941. His life experiences were varied. He worked in the oil industry in the late 1940s and '50s. He was an avid golfer and maintained private and instructors pilot licenses. He built and owned bowling establishments in Bowie and Ennis. He also served as sergeant in the Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged in 1945. He and his wife moved to Irving in 1963 and he was a mechanical engineer with VANEC Industries from 1963 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of South MacArthur Church of Christ. He moved to Hereford several weeks before his death. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Phyllis Whittington, in 1999; and a sister, Doris, and brother, Lorenze Whittington. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Jansa and husband, Jerry, of Dimmitt; two sisters, Shirley Joplin of Irving and Verna Nance of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother, Gene Whittington of Ennis; three grandchildren, Michael Sean Wilson, Todd Jansa, Amy Shanan Ford; and two great-grandchildren, Forest Waggoner and Morgan Ford. The family suggests memorials be to South MacArthur Church of Christ, American Cancer Society or Hereford Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
