Miss Moon was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Lawson to Richard and Bessie Moon. She retired in 1975 from Furr Foods, Inc., after 25 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching figure skating, reading, family gatherings, and bargain-hunting. He served with the Marine Corps from 1935 to 1939. He owned and operated P&M Machine Shop for 20 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and received the Beaver Award in 1973. He was past president of the Knife & Fork Club and served on the board of directors at the Amarillo State Center and Amarillo Alcohol Board. He was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he worked as an administrative assistant for two years. He served as Randall County Judge from 1979 until 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alice Purcell; a brother, Gilbert Purcell; and a sister, Rosella Craghead.
