"Jim" Alcorn James R. "Jim" Alcorn, 69, of Amarillo died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Family Worship Center with the Rev. Mike Linney, pastor, and the Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Alcorn was born in Duncan, Okla., and was a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God High School in Waxahachie and also attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie as well. He married Vera Porter in 1959 in Crowell. They moved to Amarillo in 1977 from Wichita Falls. He taught music and owned and operated Jimmy Alcorn Recording Services. He played the organ and was a member of Family Worship Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Carl Alcorn and Arcie Wright Alcorn; and by a sister, Jeanie Vee Clattenburg; Survivors include his wife; a brother, Jerry Alcorn of Grand Prairie; a sister, Jacquelyn Guinn of Arlington; four nieces; one great-nephew; and three great- nieces. The family suggests memorials be to Family Worship Center, 11901 Interstate 27, Amarillo, TX 79119. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Gussie was born at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Pampa Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her mother; her father; her maternal grandparents, Donna Hunnicutt of Pampa and Willie Hall of New Jersey; and her paternal grandfather, Bobby Dorsey Sr. of Pampa. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Hinds married Fern Butcher on Dec. 12, 1941, in Borger. He owned and operated Hinds R.V. Park. Survivors include three daughters, LaJohna Newbould of Livingston, Donna Hinds Scarimbolo of Kent, Wash., and Bonnie Davis of Amarillo; two brothers, John Hinds and Bob Hinds, both of Borger; eight grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Benjamin D. Seller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Starr was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Las Marias, Puerto Rico. She had been a Dumas resident since 1953. She married John J. Starr on May 24, 1947, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a nurse and a teacher of English and Spanish. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a longtime member of the Moore County Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kayla. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Paul Starr of Dallas, Russell "Bart" Starr and wife, Jackie, of Lubbock, and Manuel Franco and wife, Risa, of Dumas; a daughter, Linda Ballard of Canyon; a sister, Delia Morgan of Plattsburg, N.Y.; three brothers, Gregorio Alayon of Orlando, Fla., Nicatol Alayon of Puerto Rico and Arturo Alayon of Mount Dora, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Shawn, Laurie, Kasey, Jon-Michael, Shannon, Derek, Grant and Jackson; and six great- grandchildren. "Bobbi" Brown Albin, 54, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of McLean United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Albin had lived most of her life in the Shamrock area. She married J.C. Albin in 1989 in Shamrock. Survivors include her husband; a son, Quinton Brown of Shamrock; a daughter, Robin Luna of Shamrock; three stepdaughters, Debbie Shilling of McAllister, Okla., Kim McAdoo of Wichita Falls and Robin Warren of Chickasha, Okla.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Curtis "Peanut" Davis of Shamrock; and three sisters, Francis Cook Clay of Reydon, Okla., Cledith "Ned" Burrell of Wheeler and Martha Salem of Fort Worth. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Calvin Burrow, pastor of Jesus Name Apostolic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mr. Booth was born March 2, 1942, in Lesley in Hall County and had been a Clarendon resident most of his life. He married Shirley Marie Holman on Feb. 6, 1959, in Clarendon. He was a mechanic at Chamberlain Motor Co. for 32 years and had been employed in the maintenance department at Clarendon College since 1994. He attended Clarendon Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 19, 2002; a son Bobby Dale Booth on May 14, 1994; his father, B.B. Booth; and by two infant sons, Dale Ray Booth and Terry Booth. Survivors include a daughter, Sheryl Carter of Erick, Okla.; his mother, Eula Booth of Memphis; four brothers, Don Booth of Childress, Bobby Booth and Jimmy Booth, both of Memphis, and Alan Booth of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Middleton; a special friend, Tina Johnson; grandchildren, Tony and Randi Carter, Kim and Gary Carter, Kyle Carter, Mary and Kenny Booth and Josh Allred; and great- grandchildren, Caleb Carter, Emberlynn Carter and Dylan Booth. Mr. Endriss married Debra Shields on Jan. 24, 2000, in Clovis. He was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Evan Shields and Christopher Shields, both of Clovis; a daughter, Lamesia Shields of Baker, La.; and two grandchildren. Mr. Aragon married Paublita Salas on July 1, 1953, in Guymon, Okla. He was a horse trainer and loved to tell stories about horses. Survivors include three sons, Leroy Aragon of Canyon, Texas, Leon Aragon of Amarillo and Paul Aragon of Clovis; three daughters, Mary Lou Lopez and Betty Aragon, both of Amarillo, and Chana Vega of Clovis; a brother, Christian Aragon of Clovis; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Boise City Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Keyes United Methodist Church in Keyes with Bea Kilborn, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Elms married Mattie Letha Sanders on June 12, 1943, in Boise City. He was a farmer in Cimarron County and took great pride in his work. Survivors include two sons, Erwin Elms of Boise City and Mark Elms of Pampa, Texas; a daughter, Shirley Boyd of Turpin; a sister, Dicy Stephenson of Stratford, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 1, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Major William Harvey Craig LUBBOCK - Major William Harvey Craig, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ford Memorial Chapel of First Baptist Church with the Rev. John H. Ballard officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Rix Funeral Directors. Major Craig was born May 23, 1917, in Alanreed to Willard and Harriett Craig. He graduated from Alanreed High School and later enlisted in the Armed Services. He married Norma Jean Pieper on Oct. 17, 1961, in Alamogordo, N.M. During his military career, he served in Burma, Germany, Formosa and Pakistan. While in Pakistan, he was assigned to the diplomatic corps. Upon retirement in 1965, he and his wife moved to Lubbock. He was employed by the Paul Graham Co. and was a founding member of the Men's Downtown Bible Class. He was also involved in various volunteer organizations, primarily Meals on Wheels and the Lakeside Auxiliary. Together, he and his wife contributed more than 50 years of volunteer service. He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 7, 2002; two brothers, Ned B. Craig and Billy James Craig; and his parents. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Maselle Craig of Lubbock and Georgia Craig of Mount Vernon, Mo.; two nieces, Donna Barry of Denver and Jean Murph of Euless; a nephew, Kent Craig of Lubbock; and neighbors, Dottie and Charlie Lusher and Tom, Patsy, Krisha and Caprice Tabor.
