Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Edwards, pastor, and Dr. Roger A. Hubbard, pastor of Lake Tanglewood Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Reck was born July 25, 1938, in Claude and had lived in Armstrong County most of his life. He graduated from Claude High School and attended Sul Ross University. He married Colleen Mathus DeVore of Pampa on June 30, 2000, in Tucumcari, N.M. He was employed in various positions with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. throughout his 32-year career. He was based out of Pampa and then Amarillo before his retirement. Throughout his career he maintained his involvement in the family farming and cattle ranching business in Armstrong County. After his retirement, he continued full-time in the farming and ranching business as a third generation owner of land in Armstrong County, holding land that was homesteaded and has always been owned by the Reck family. He was preceded in death by his father, John P. Reck. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Frances Chauveaux Reck of Claude; two daughters, Cheri Reck Mann and husband, Gary, of Lake Tanglewood and D'Lene Reck Sandleback and husband, Brian, of Coppell; three grandchildren, Preston Mann of Lake Tanglewood, and Beau Sandleback and Cody Sandleback, both of Coppell; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Amarillo Globe-News, March 2, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barbara Ann Brackeen Pitcock MIAMI - Barbara Ann Brackeen Pitcock, 68, died Monday, March 1, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of the United Methodist Church of McLean, and the Rev. Don Kinder, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Pitcock was born July 26, 1935, in Panhandle to Henry Lee and Josie Ladonia Malone Brackeen. She lived in Amarillo most of her life. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary No. 5606 in Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Ladonia Annette Collins in 1951; a grandson, Kenneth Wayne Mims in 1998; her parents; and three sisters, Lucille West, Ruby Grider and Christine Karlin; and a brother, Omer L. Brackeen. Survivors include three daughters, Kay Mims and husband, Larry, of Tyler, Stephanie Early and husband, Rusty, of Miami and Charlene Matthews and friend, Jim Mitchell, of Amarillo; a foster daughter, Janet Webb and husband, Jack, of Jacksonville; four stepdaughters, Nancy Hemmingway, Debbie Helton, Cecelia Harsen and Brenda Herbert; a stepson, Charlie Muecke; her companion of 11 years, John Muecke; two sisters, Kay Dixon of Amarillo and Audrey King of Ruidoso, N.M.; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; and a very special longtime friend of 55 years, Faye Polvadore of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, March 2, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Roy Brunson CLAUDE - William Roy Brunson, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Brunson was born in Armstrong County on Aug. 9, 1909, to George John Brunson and Elizabeth Griffin Brunson. He married Laura Mae Hukill in Claude on Nov. 25, 1928. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Brunson farmed until 1940 and then moved to Claude, where he lived until 1964. Then, he moved to Red River, N.M., for 16 years and retired to Kingsland. In 1992, he and Mae returned to Claude. Mr. Brunson has worn many hats during his 94 years, but was probably best known as sheriff of Armstrong County. He always had many stories to tell during the years. One story he always told was that as a small boy he attended the last buffalo hunt at Colonel Goodnight's Ranch. He and Mae were busy as extras during the filming of the movie "Hud" in Claude. Their hobby was fishing and they spent many hours on Red River and Kingsland lakes and streams. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996. Survivors include four children, Ruth Robison and husband, Bill, of Amarillo, Norma Lambert and Johnny Brunson and wife, Judy, all of Red River, and Jimmy Brunson and wife, Marilyn, of Midland; eight grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 136, Claude, TX 79019; Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174; or a favorite charity. "Bob" Wilson, 72, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Shamrock Cemetery with Cottie Tarbet officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Wilson had lived in the Wheeler County area for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Shamrock. Survivors include many friends. Mr. Minter was born Dec. 9, 1983, in Guymon, Okla. He moved to Dalhart in 1999 from Guymon. Survivors include his wife, Shasta; a daughter, Mia Lynn Minter of Dalhart; his mother, Terry Minter of Guymon; two stepfathers, Steve Ratzlaff of Guymon and Dale Brandner of Hooker, Okla.; a brother, John Slatten of Collens, Mo.; three sisters, Samantha Hudson of Collens, Hope Espinoza of Amarillo and Sara Minter of Guymon; and his grandmother, Norma Minter of Hooker. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver, Okla. Mrs. Thomas was a waitress at Nu-Way Cafe for many years. She was born Sept. 6, 1911, in Beaver and was a longtime Borger resident. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Martin of Kimball, Neb.; two brothers, Forrest Woolery and Ted Woolery, both of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Key was born April 25, 1939, in Home Creek, Va., to Taylor and Jessie Francis. She married Tommy L. Key of Amarillo on Aug. 14, 1960. She was a resident of Amarillo for 20 years. She was a social worker with the Texas Department of Human Resources for 19 years, having worked in Amarillo, Lubbock and El Paso, retiring as a supervisor in 1993. She graduated from Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., with a BA in English and received an MA in English from Louisiana State University, where she was a teaching assistant. She was an accomplished artist, having won several awards in El Paso. She was an avid reader and maintained an interest in genealogy, photography and travel. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Faye Williamson of Canada, Ky. Survivors include her husband; a sister, Peggy Tredway of Amarillo; two brothers, Gerald Francis of Statesboro, Ga., and Floyd Reed Francis of Canada, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Connie Key Green and husband, Mike, of Athens; and her beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Rodger Johnson of Northside United Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fulton Cemetery in Walnut Springs with the Rev. Travis Starnes officiating. Mr. Rhodes was born in Walnut Springs to Robert Lee and Sarah Rhodes. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He married Dorothy Robinson in Brownfield in 1966. He worked for Phillips Petroleum for 39 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Northside United Pentecostal Church. The family wishes to thank BSA Hospice for thier loving care and compassion. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Clark Funeral Service Chapel with Jim Sutherland officiating. Burial will be in Forgan Cemetery. Mr. Gordon was born May 15, 1964, in Beaver. He worked in the oilfield as a roughneck. Survivors include four sons, Victor Gordon Jr. and Aaron Owens, both of Dodge City, Sam Martin of Mooreland and Ian Martin of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Lacrisha Gordon of Woodward and Chelsey Gordon of Dodge City; a brother, Philip Sutton of Forgan; and a granddaughter.
