Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Petty, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Allen had lived in Lubbock for the past 25 years, moving from Friona. He married Karen Agee on May 1, 1999, in Lubbock. He was a master electrician. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his natural mother, Betty Robertson in 1970; a brother, Louis Parsons in 2002; and a sister, Janie Allen in 1947. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tony Allen and Michael Allen, both of Lubbock; a stepson, Brian Barnwell of Shreveport, La.; a stepdaughter, Tonya Purvine of Abilene; his parents, John and Elsie Allen of Friona; three brothers, John Lee Allen of Carlsbad, N.M., Tommy Frank Allen of San Antonio and David Parsons of Houston; and seven grandchildren. Plumlee Jr. CANADIAN - Charlie H. Plumlee Jr., 77, died Monday, March 1, 2004. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Timmons, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Nubbin Ridge Cemetery in Granbury by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Plumlee was born June 3, 1926, in Knox City. He moved to the Texas Panhandle at the age of 15, and entered the Army at the age of 17. Charlie served with the Army Airborne as a paratrooper in Europe during World War II. Following the service he worked in the oilfield and was vice president of E.T. Smith and Associate Oil Co. He married Alta Mae Vaughn in Canadian in 1976. Charlie was a past city councilman in Canadian. He raised Paso Fino horses and showed a Grand National Champion. Charlie was a member of Central Baptist Church, Paso Fino Horse Association and American Petroleum Institute. He enjoyed square dancing and calling square dances. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Plumlee. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Connie Elmore of Amarillo, Linda Brawner of Canadian and Tina Chumbley of Marlow, Okla.; a son, James Buckley of Granbury; a brother, George Plumlee of Satellite Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leyba was a Friona resident for the past 10 years. She moved to Friona from Ojinago, Mexico. Survivors include her husband, Jesus; four daughters, Miroslava Torres, Marissa Garcia and Magaly Leyva, all of Friona, and Marisela Hinojos of Odessa; a sister, Marta Mata of Mexico; a brother, Rojelio Leyva of Eunice, N.M.; and six grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 3, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Juanita L. Brillhart PERRYTON - Juanita L. Brillhart, 83, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brillhart was born July 10, 1920, in Oklahoma City. She had lived in the area since 1936, moving from Alva, Okla. She graduated from Perryton High School in 1938 and from Wichita Business College in 1940. She married Gene Brillhart on March 2, 1941, in Perryton and they were married for 61 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Skyview Sunday school class. She was a life member of Xi Lamba Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Juanita joined the First National Bank of Perryton in 1940. She retired as assistant vice president and executive secretary in 1990, after serving in the bank for 50 years. She continued to assist her husband in farming southeast of Perryton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar O. and Elsie Cox; and her husband on Oct. 16, 2002. Survivors include a son, Randy Brillhart and wife, Theresa, of Perryton; a daughter, Rosalind Shinn and husband, Rusty, of Lubbock; a brother, Joe Cox and wife, Carol, of Stinnett; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jess Little and the Rev. Jeff Addison officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cobb was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Howard County, Ark. When she was 3 months old, she and her family moved to the Quitaque area. A few years later Florene married William Orval Cobb on Aug. 3, 1940, in the Briscoe County courthouse in Silverton. Survivors include a daughter, Janice McBee and husband, Butch, of Quitaque; a son, Melvin Cobb of Georgetown; a brother, Hubert Gene Dyer of Whitehouse; a sister-in-law, Merle Dyer of Umpire, Ark.; her grandchildren, Laura Kemp of Arlington, Michael Cobb of Tulsa, Okla., and Randa McBee and Christopher McBee, both of Quitaque; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Danielle Kemp, both of Arlington. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Puckett was born in Amarillo. She worked for Doche Cleaners and in later years, did domestic housework. She married Ralph Puckett in February 1960. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 19, 1987; a son, Sonny Belcher; a daughter, Delores Belcher; and a grandson, Robert Belcher. Survivors include two daughters, Nikki Anglin of Dallas and Pat Miracle of Amarillo; a sister, Evelyn Gann of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Debra Hass, Tracy Burns, Joey Miracle, Danny Dee Miracle, Misty Shea Matteson, Stacy Presley, Shelly Belcher and James Belcher; and 13 great-grandchildren. Hughes St. Mr. Miller was a former Amarillo resident and a 1959 Carver High School graduate. He retired with Greyhound Bus Lines in Oklahoma City after 35 years of service. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Steiner was born June 15, 1927, in New York City to Louise and Rudolph Reinisch. She married James R. Steiner on Nov. 28, 1946, in New York City. She was a homemaker and volunteered at Northwest Texas Hospital auxiliary. She retired from Sears after working many years. Mrs. Steiner was a member of VFW Auxiliary and St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock with the Rev. Matt Woffington officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Alexander was born Charlotte Marie Berry in Nocona on Aug. 28, 1913. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1929. She married Kenneth Y. Alexander in Amarillo in 1931. They were married for 48 years. Charlotte was a department store salesperson in Amarillo and Lubbock for more than 30 years. She worked at Hemphillwells and Dunlap's in Lubbock and for Blackburns, Sakowitz and Dunlap's in Amarillo. She could always remember and call all her customers by name. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; a younger sister in 1965; and a daughter, Anne Zimmerman in 1998. Survivors include a son, Kenneth L. Alexander and wife of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; a son-in-law, John L. Zimmerman and wife of Amarillo; six grandchildren and spouses, some of whom live in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Amarillo; and 19 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Callis was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Sedan. He married Alta Faye Robinson Callis on Aug. 21, 1949, in Sedan. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathy Johnston of Clayton; two sons, Darrell Callis of Amarillo, Texas, and Quint Callis of Sedan; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merle Callis and Andy Callis, both of Sedan; and three sisters, Pauline Nelson of Cushing, Texas, Ora Phelps of Byers, Colo., and Myrtle Murphy of Clayton. Clarence Calvin "C.C." Dillow, 96, died Sunday, February 29, 2004, in Grapevine. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Riley Funeral Home. The Rev. Dillow lived at Dam B for more than 20 years before moving to Grapevine in 1997. He was born May 4, 1907, in Lehigh in the Oklahoma Indian Territory. He worked throughout Texas and Oklahoma in the oil and gas business for more than 20 years before surrendering to full-time Christian ministry. He served in the First Baptist churches of Dumas and Galveston and later in his ministry, the Associational Missionary for the Galveston Baptist Association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Loretta Stanton Dillow; and two sons, Jerry of Nederland and Ramon of Dumas. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Beverly Dillow DeGarmo of Nederland; eight grandchildren, David Dillow of Grapevine, Russell Dillow of Bridge City, Carol Dillow Davis of Beaumont, Paul Dillow and Kent Dillow, both of Nederland, Janette Dillow Clubb of Hamshire, Chuck Dillow of Giddings and Lori Dillow Milam of San Antonio; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Mrs. Mangum was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Posey and graduated from Slaton High School in 1940. Lorene married Everett Mangum on Feb. 22, 1941, in Slaton. She had lived most of her life in Slaton. She retired as chief clerk in 1982 from the Lubbock ASCS office after 30 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church, TEL Sunday school class and Billy Sims Travel Club. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 24, 1998; and two sons, Wayne Mangum on Feb. 16, 1997, and Jimmy Mangum on Jan. 27, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Ron Mangum of Slaton and John Mangum of Lefors; a brother, Charles Gentry of Lubbock; two sisters, Laverne Karon and Annabel Phillips, both of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
