Mrs. Scott was born Aug. 5, 1910, to James L. and Elizabeth Snodgrass Willis in Wewoka, Okla. She married Roy Pinkney "Pink" Scott on Jan. 1, 1943, in Wellington. Survivors include a son, Jimmie E. Scott of Dallas; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Witt was born to Joe and Doll Raymond at Union Hill in Swisher County on Sept. 23, 1921. She attended Happy schools, where she participated actively in basketball and later coached girls basketball in Happy. She married Pete Peterson in 1944 in Amarillo, where he was stationed in World War II. She moved to Perryton in 1951, where she was elected the first district clerk in Perryton. She married Willard Witt on Nov. 22, 1963, in Perryton. They retired to Amarillo in 1974 to be close to grandchildren. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress and avid duplicate bridge player. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; three sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Sandy Peterson-Baker and husband, Eddie, and Pam Chaney, all of Amarillo, Kay McPherson of Mt. Vigil service was at 7 p.m. Monday in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the church with the Rev. Patrick Carathers, Bishop Emeritus Leroy T. Matthiesen, Monsignor Francis Smyer and Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Bourg was born in Napoleonville, La. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He moved to the Amarillo Air Force Base in 1942. He married Barbara Motch in Amarillo on April 11, 1945. Mr. Bourg was a carpenter and retired from Star Lumber after 32 years of employment. He was a charter member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church and a member of the Senior Citizens Association. He volunteered for many fund-raisers at St. Mary's Catholic School from 1952 until 1971 and served on the board of St. Mary's Credit Union. Mr. Bourg was a respected member of the community who enjoyed helping others. He and his wife enjoyed dancing to the Big Band music of the 1940s. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Weaver, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, March 1, 2004, in Snohomish, Wash. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Weaver was born July 11, 1917, in Petty, the eldest daughter of Melvin Clifton Lindsey and Myrtle May Morris Lindsey, both longtime residents of Amarillo. Arah was know to her grandchildren and loved ones as Mama Rene, and her husband, Joseph Clementine Weaver, whom she married on Sept. 5, 1936, was known as Papa Joe. She was fond of gardening and garage sales, and was an excellent cook and family storyteller. Along with her husband, Joseph, she operated several popular flea markets in Amarillo for many years. Arah worked during the 1960s at Maynard Sash and Door Co. in Amarillo, and later worked for several years at Amarillo Quarter Horse Association. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 13, 2002; and her son, David Leon Weaver in December 1944. She married Edward Dow Stevens in Clovis, N.M., on April 26, 1941. She was an avid dog lover and had several prize show dogs. Mr. Fillingim was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Wheeler County to Irving Gillis and Laura Fillingim. He had been a farmer for most of his life. Mr. Fillingim graduated from Canadian High School in 1942 and attended Watch Makers School in Amarillo. He married Juanita Boren on Sept. 19, 1954, in Olney Springs, Colo. After marrying, they moved to the Allison Community from Colorado in 1967. Mr. Fillingim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy and was a member of Allison United Methodist Church in Allison. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy; his parents; a sister, Leola Root; and four brothers, Leon, E.G., William and Hugh Fillingim. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Sims was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Comanche, Okla. He married Betty Jo Lang on March 15, 1941. Mr. Sims proudly served as a Merchant Marine in the Coast Guard during World War II. Then Betty and he moved to Amarillo in 1948, where he operated Jerry's Cleaners until 1977. In 1978, Mr. Sims became an employee with Amarillo National Bank, where he worked for 14 years. Following his retirement in 1991, he soon returned to the bank to become a part-time greeter, where he enjoyed interacting with and assisting the clients and guests of the bank. Mr. Sims truly loved working at the bank. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years in October 2002; and a son, Mike Sims in 1988. Georgia St. Mrs. Curtis was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947 and attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo. She married George L. Curtis on Dec. 27, 1948. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last December. Barbara lived her life as a devout Christian. She placed God first in her life and was deeply committed to her family. She was generous with her love and time, always going the extra mile to help others. Barbara's main joys in life were family activities, especially the family vacations in Colorado, and watching her children and grandchildren in all of their activities and taking pride in their achievements. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, having served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was a past chairman of Presbyterian Women's Association and also a member of Sarah Perkins Circle at Westminster. Barbara was a member and past recording secretary for PEO Chapter AN, Amarillo, and was a sustaining member of Junior League of Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with David Bell officiating. Mrs. Beal was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Groom to Joe and Nora Smith Paetzold. She was a Hereford High School graduate and a 1938 graduate of St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing. She entered the Army Nurse Corps in 1941, serving in World War II in the Philippines, New Guinea and Australia. She later served in Japan after the war with the 49th U.S. Army General Hospital. She received several medals as well as a Bronze Star for bravery. She was discharged as a captain. She lived most of her life in Los Angeles before returing to the Panhandle in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Beal in 1973; a son, Jimmy Beal in 1986; and a brother, Herman Paetzold in 1984. Taliaferro, 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 7, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Dan Bouchelle of the church and Paul Sneed also of the church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Taliaferro was born and raised in Denton. He graduated from Denton High School in 1930. He attended college at North Texas State University and graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1942 with a law degree. He worked for Red River Ordinance Department in 1943 as chief locator. Mr. Taliaferro served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, and was assigned to the Judge Advocate General's Office, South District Headquarters in Salisbury, England, in 1945 through February 1946. He was assigned as chief clerk to the Provost Marshal's Office in Batangas, P.I. In 1946 he worked for the Veterans Administration in Dallas, Denver, Muskogee, Manilla, Los Angeles, and then to Washington as a member of the board of veterans appeals. He then moved to the General Counsel's Office for four years and retired in 1973, receiving a commendation for more than 30 years of service. He moved to Lake Texhoma in July 1973. Mr. Taliaferro was a member of the Board of Veteran Appeals in Washington, D.C., and an investigator, adjudicator and field attorney for the Veterans Administration. He was also a member of Central Church of Christ. He married Doris Jones in 1996 and they moved to Amarillo in 1998. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Barringer in 1993, after being married more than 50 years; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Becky Behunin Holliday of Alabama; a grandson, Romie Behunin of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Julie Jones of El Paso and Tracy Jones of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, having served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
