Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery in Wichita Falls. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. White was born in Walters, Okla., to Ina Miller Blevins and Ralph Blevins on Jan. 13, 1921. They were migrant farm workers therefore, moving a lot and living in different states during her younger years. On June 29, 1940, she married J.R. "Jake" White at Walters. After their children were born, they later moved to Wichita Falls, living on Lake Wichita, a place they dearly loved. She worked for Whites Auto Stores, Singer Sewing Machine Co. and sold real estate. After her husband's death, she moved to San Antonio, where she owned her own business for several years. She then worked part time for Sears. Since her retirement, she spent most of her time making quilts, which she both pieced and hand quilted. Researching her family tree, she published a Blevins Family Tree in 1994. As long as she was able, she loved to dance, preferring country music. She was an avid dog lover and won many awards with her show dogs. She was a member of the Baptist church and lived in Keene and Tahlequah, Okla., before moving to Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother; a sister; and a grandchild. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Shearer of Hulbert, Okla.; a son, Carl White of Amarillo; a sister, Shirley Thumm of Scroggins; a brother, Roe Douglas Blevins of Hulbert; six grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; two great- grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great- granchildren. Mr. Burson was preceded in death by his parents, Bland and Frances Burson; and two brothers, Joe Burson and Vance Burson. King, 96, of Amarillo died Friday, March 12, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park Mortuary Little Country Chapel in North Hollywood, Calif. Burial will be in Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park. Local arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. King was born in Albany, N.Y., but lived most of her life in Glendale, Calif. She had lived in Amarillo that last few years with her grandson, Rick McClain. She belonged to the Lockheed Retirement Group of Los Angeles. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Alan Rae King in 1965 and Alice Ruth Hall in 1983. Survivors include two sons, Bill King of Fort Worth and Bob King of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Gloria McBroom of San Fernando Valley, Calif., and Shirley McClain of Troy Grove, Ill.; and a large family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Suttle, pastor of San Jacinto Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Teakell was born in a tent on the Pecos River and was raised in Wellington. He attended school in Amarillo and Dumas. He had been a commercial truck driver in Amarillo for many years. He drove for Affiliated Foods, Bob Blair Transport and Plains Livestock, where he retired from in 1991. He married Mary Burchett in 1986 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Billy Glenn Teakell of Plano; two sisters, Dorothy Sharp of Claude and Dolores Phelan of Hewitt; three brothers, Raymond Sasser of Dumas, Joe Dean Sasser of Lenora and Melvin Sasser of Cheyenne, Okla.; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 15, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area James "Jim" Lee Gilbert TURKEY - James "Jim" Lee Gilbert, 82, died Friday, March 12, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Turkey. Mr. Gilbert was born Aug. 6, 1921, to John H. and Susie Gilbert in Turkey. He was a lifelong resident of Turkey and was a farmer. He served in the Navy during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He participated in the assault on Iwo Jima. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dorothy, Doshie and Nell; and three brothers-in-law, Basil Collins, Lois Jones and Cecil Smith. Survivors include his nephew and caregiver, Van Allen Collins of Canyon; 19 nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces and nephews and great-great- nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, March 15, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Evelyn Mainiero DALHART - Evelyn Mainiero, 84, died Friday, March 12, 2004. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Mainiero was born Dec. 15, 1919, in New York City to Augustus and Lena Burghardt Schuck. She was raised in Lee, Mass., and on Sept. 30, 1939, she married John Mainiero. They moved to California in 1952. She was a Methodist and lived in Hemet, Calif., before moving to Dalhart in February 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother; and a son, John "Skip: Mainiero. Survivors include a daughter, Sally Hampton of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Mainiero of Laverne, Calif.; four grandchildren, Cheryll Kuper and husband, J. Kuper, of Dalhart, Jon Harruff of Moreno Valley, Calif., Andrew Mainiero and wife, Michele, of Laverne and Ric Mainiero and wife, Lisa, of Montrose, Colo.; and six great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Cassidy and Colton Kuper, Geoffrey Harruff and Allie and Anthony Mainiero. Amarillo Globe-News, March 15, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark Stringer SUNRAY - Mark Stringer, 42, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in California. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Stringer was born April 24, 1961, in Dumas. He lived in Moore County most of his life. He was a 1979 graduate of Dumas High School. He attended Baylor University. He was a member of Sunray Baptist Church and was very active in all aspects of the church. He was a member of the Dumas Noon Lions and was active in Emmaus Community. He married Brenda Hicks on March 13, 1999, in Dumas. He was a lifetime farmer before opening Stringers Appliance and Automotive Store in Dumas in July 2003. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dallas Stringer and wife, Heather, of Amarillo, Brock Stringer of Dumas and Austin Hicks of Sunray; two daughters, Alyssa Hicks and Madison Hicks, both of Sunray; his parents, Berkley and Charlotte Stringer of Dumas; two brothers, Reid Stringer of Tallahassee, Fla., and Blake Stringer of Dumas; and a sister, Kendra Beene of Greenville. Mrs. Barjenbruch was born July 29, 1927, to James and Violet Slagar Potter in Stillwater, Okla. She married Robert Barjenbruch on June 2, 1962, in Petersburg. Survivors include a stepson, Mike Barjenbruch of Kingwood; two sisters, Ruth Helen Simmons of Houston and Virginia Loe Tackett of Johnson City, Tenn.; two brothers, James G. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Duncan City Cemetery in Duncan, Okla. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Fox was a carpenter for Phillips Petroleum. He married Naomi Mooney on Jan. 14, 1949, in Wichita Falls. He resided in Plainview for 20 years before moving to Waco in 1997. Mr. Williams was a retired Baptist minister. He married LaFaun Karber on Jan. 2, 2001.
