Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Roger Orr, administrative assistant at Grace Thru Fellowship of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. Hall was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Cainsville, Mo. She was a Dumas resident since 1968. She married Chester E. Hall on Sept. 27, 1938, in Corydon, Iowa. She worked as a waitress at Keeney's Cafe and Zona's for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 8, 1997; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Survivors include two sons, Richard Hall and wife, Mary, of Dumas and Tommy Hall and wife, Mary Jo, of Fritch; two daughters, Marjorie Dupus and husband, Bob, of Belton, Mo., and Ellen Schollenbarger and husband, Roy, of Dumas; a brother, Lester "Johnny" Eastin of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters, Pauline Baldwin of Laredo, Mo., and Marie McBroom of Decatur, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Spangler officiating. Burial will be in Goodlett Cemetery in Goodlett by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. McGuire was born May 19, 1923, on the Ross Ranch near Goodlett. She married Juddy Menco McGuire on June 4, 1941, in Altus, Okla. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Dow of Mountain Home; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 17, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Jennings "Jay" Bryan DALHART - William Jennings "Jay" Bryan, 78, died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Texline First Baptist Church in Texline with the Rev. Billy Rammage of First Baptist Church in Clayton, N.M., and Dr. Clifford Dane, minister of senior adults at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Bryan was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Charleston, Ark., to Rolan and Veta (Kizer) Bryan. He moved to Texas with his family when he was 3 years old. He graduated from Samnorwood High School, and in 1950 received his degree in ag education from Texas Tech University. Jay was in the 3rd Army with General Patton during World War II and received many decorations including the Purple Heart. On June 22, 1952, he married Novilla Hill in Shamrock. Mr. Bryan managed the Shamberger ranch from 1956 to 2003 and was an active member of the Texline Community. He had served 25 years on the Texline School Board and was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Texline. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Harold Bryan; and a son, Ronald Jay Bryan. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, LaNell Scott of Oak Island, N.C.; his mother of Amarillo; a brother, E.W. Bryan of Amarillo; and the two other children he and his wife raised, Colleene Howell of Texline and Bobby Hill of Spearman. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Texline. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Huseman of Nazareth; three sons, Hubert Backus of Nazareth, Edmund Backus of Dumas and Fritz Backus of Hereford; 23 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Hester of Fritch; a sister, Betty Hawkins of Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Vonda Maddox and husband, Monty, of Amarillo; and two grandsons, Lance Maddox of Dallas and Lyle Maddox of Houston. Mr. Paradowski was born in Houston and lived in Amarillo since 1959. He graduated from Amarillo High School and served in the Navy. He worked for Nunn Manufacturing for more than 20 years. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Walker was born in Montrose, Colo. She lived in Conway until 1989 before moving to Amarillo. She married Cecil Walker in 1931. She was a wonderful mother and "Gran." Mrs. Walker was the Carson County Extension Office Woman of the Year in 1977. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, a member of the board of directors of Conway Community Church, a member of Conway Community Extension Homemakers Club and a past member of Carson County Tuberculosis Association, now called the American Lung Association. She taught Sunday school in Conway and Panhandle and was a member of Trinity Baptist Silver Notes Choir and Martha's Class. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; and a daughter, Donna Long in 1983. Survivors include two daughters, Nanette Provence of Amarillo and Cecilia Lopez of Weatherford; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 17, 2004 Manuel Aponte Fox Manuel Aponte Fox, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, in Viequez, Puerto Rico. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Fox was born and raised in Viequez. He joined the Army, served during World War II and was discharged in 1947. He married Mary Martinez in 1946. They moved to Amarillo where he was one of the founding members of GI Forum. He was a mechanic for Ryder Truck for more than 30 years before retiring in 1984. After retirement he worked for Dallas ISD as a bus monitor for handicapped children. Mr. Fox was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 24, 1980. Survivors include two sons, Tony Fox of Murphy and Leo Fox Sr. of Seagoville; a daughter, Emma Romero of Amarillo; two sisters, Juanita Fox of Aquadilla, Puerto Rico, and Aracelis Fox of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Sandoval of Amarillo, Leo Fox Jr., Hugo Carillo and Alex Carillo, all of Dallas, Manuel Fox II, Randy Fox and Daniela Fox, all of Seagoville, and Trevor Laswell of Murphy; a companion, Dora Luna of Amarillo; and her children, Glen Kirk, Tony Sustaita, Bobby Sustaita, Joe Sustaita and Anna Martinez, all of Amarillo. He was a veteran, serving in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; and his mother, Irma. Survivors include a sister, Lillie Underwood of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, W.R. Mrs. Fouts was born in Childress on Feb. 14, 1939, to Charles and Nora Helmstetler. She graduated from Childress High School in 1957. She moved to Amarillo in 1958 where she worked for Dr. Aubry Smith. She was a member of the Junior League of Amarillo and the First Christian Church. She moved to Lubbock in 1972, where she became a Realtor with Don Harris Realty. She married Linville Fouts on Sept. 28, 1990. Her life was enriched by her wonderful sense of humor. She was devoted to her children, her many friends, and she was a wonderful "Grany" to her granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a stepson, Gregg Fouts. Survivors include her husband; a son, Winn Fuqua and wife, Debbie, of Dallas; a daughter, Michelle Fuqua Bryson and husband, Neil, of Tulia; a stepdaughter, Carla Fouts; a sister, Wilma Shelton of Childress; three bothers, George, Holbert and Wayne Helmstetler; and four granddaughters, Tiffany, Blair, Emily and Alyson. She was a public school teacher in Texas. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Domingo of St. Petersburg and Mary DeShan of Atlanta; three sisters, Charlie Mae Browning of Fort Worth, Texas, and Chloe Loukas and Billie June Monroe, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
