Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor, and the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Johnson was born June 29, 1919, in Burnside, Ky., and had been a resident of Hedley all of his life. He married Jo Anne Reeves on June 24, 1960, in Donley County. He was employed in the water utility department of the City of Hedley and as a caretaker at Rowe Cemetery. He had farmed several years before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Grover and Eva Neeley Johnson; two brothers, Ruben and Willie Johnson; and two sisters, Laura Britton and Etta Moss. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Britten and husband, Jimmy, of Groom and Beckie Torres and husband, Frank, of Amarillo; three sons, Jesse Reynolds and wife, Dianne, of Shamrock, Johnny Reynolds and wife, Sharon, of Graford and Bobby Johnson of Hedley; a sister, Dorothy Christensen of Lyons, Kan.; four grandchildren, Jesse Reynolds, Susan Clendennen, Cindy Lambert and Joshua Reynolds; and five great-grandchildren, Samantha Clendennen, Kenlee Lambert, Jayden Lambert, Emma Lambert and Cara Lambert. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Benjamin Seller, minister, officiating. A second service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Odebolt United Methodist Church in Odebolt, Iowa, with the Rev. Al Milligan officiating. Burial will be in Odebolt Cemetery. Local arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Story was born May 2, 1904, in Odebolt. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Odebolt United Methodist Church. She was a Dumas resident since 1985, moving from Odebolt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Story; a son, Robert Story; three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Jeannine Atkisson of Dumas; a grandson, James R. Atkisson of Dumas; a granddaughter, Julie Ann Randle of Dallas; two great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Riverview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Gillmore, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stinnett Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Jones was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Vinson, Okla. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co., retiring after 45 years in instrumentation. Survivors include a daughter, Paula Jones of Lubbock; a brother, Wayne Jones of Hollis, Okla.; and two sisters, Jo Carter of Wellington and Fern Niles of Brownfield. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Culbreath was born Sept. 5, 1908, in Brentwood, Ark., and moved to Eva, Okla., as a child. She attended high school in Manchester, N.H. As a married adult she resided in Kansas and Colorado. Our mother followed the following philosophy that helped to make her the unique person she was: "If you can't do anything about it, forget it and move on." Survivors include three sons, Eldon Olinger of Longmont, Colo., and Melvin Olinger and David Culbreath, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Marilyn Baland of Amarillo and Carole Ann Finnigan of Garden Valley, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Maxey was born July 27, 1950, to James and Clara Maxey. Services will be private. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Clark was born Oct. 4, 1923, to William Harry and Ella Adkins McHugh in El Dorado, Kan. She married Clinton E. Clark on April 5, 1948. Mr. Clark was an architect in Amarillo. Mrs. Clark was one of the early antique dealers on Sixth Avenue. She was owner of Rusty & Dusty Antiques and Victoriana, which was featured in a national travel magazine. She had many friends in the antique business and on Sixth Street. She continued to open her store daily throughout her illness. Mrs. Clark will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 29, 1985; and a daughter-in- law, Diana Clark on Nov. 5, 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Billie Smith and husband, Charles, and Sandy Easley and husband, Tom, all of Amarillo; two sons, Cliff Clark and wife, Donna, of Bethany, Okla., and Byron Clark of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Buddhist monks officiating. Mr. Phommyvong moved to Amarillo in 1979 from Laos. He had worked at IBP and retired from West Texas A&M University as a custodian after six years. Survivors include his wife, Jom; two sons, Kurt Phommyvong and Somsanith Phommyvong, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Robert Phommyvong and Paul Phommyvong, both of Amarillo; and a sister, Lamoun Phommyvong of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Mr. Wright was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Tucumcari. He had been a member of the Amarillo Police Department and the SWAT team. Survivors include three daughters, Stephanie of Austin, Texas, and Bethany and Tiffany, both of College Station, Texas; a son, Sean Wright of Amarillo, Texas; and two brothers, Jack Wright and Kerry Wright. Amarillo Globe-News, March 27, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Edwin Alfred Mann AUSTIN - Edwin Alfred Mann, 87, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in The Worship Place in Georgetown. Arrangements are by All Faiths Funeral Service North. Mr. Mann was born in Oklahoma City on Feb. 7, 1917, to Joseph David Mann and Florence Hill Mann. He attended Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, Okla. In 1940, he enlisted in the Army Cavalry and was later transferred to a new unit that General George S. Patton was leading, the 2nd Armored Division, also known as "Hell on Wheels." He attained the rank of major and served with the 2nd Armored throughout World War II, participating in the invasions of Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, including the landing at Omaha Beach and Battle of the Bulge. Among his decorations were the Bronze Star with two Oak Clusters and the Silver Star. At the end of the war he was offered the rank of lieutenant colonel if he would stay on, but he chose to be honorably discharged and return to his family. He was manager/owner of J.C. Hamilton Co. in Amarillo. He was a director of Amarillo Country Club and Bill Mullins Foundation. He was president of Amateur Radio Club in Amarillo and volunteered in the Navy MARS Program. He was a Mason and a member of Khiva Shrine and the Lions Club in Amarillo. He was well respected in his industry and was well known for his work ethic, sense of fairness and humor. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his hunting, fishing, golf and bocce friends. In February 2000, he moved to Sun City Texas in Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sara Hamilton; and a daughter, Marsha Mann Blakemore. Survivors include a sister, Betty Mann Carroon, 92, of Richardson; two sons, Edwin A. Mann Jr. and wife, Marilyn Boyd, of Summerfield, Fla., and James D. Mann and wife, Lynn Ficke, of Georgetown; eight grandchildren, Becky Mann, Mike Mann, David Mann, Helen Hagan, Paige TeBeest, Melissa Mann, Liz Thomas and Austin Dowell; and nine great-grandchildren, Corey Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Christopher Mann, Mitchell TeBeest, Daniel Hagan, Hutson Thomas, Will Hagan, Summer TeBeest and Autumn TeBeest.
